I plan on taking profits legally so I’m not worried how centralized my exchange is. There is no ‘free’ economy when government money rules, fight this all you want but I choose to use my energy on things I can change paying taxes where necessary for peace of mind. The USA is still a great country to live in
I’d rather pay my correct U.S. taxes and sleep well at night. I don’t have an ideological axe to grind. Whatever income and capital gains tax rates are set are simply something to plan for.
Coinbase is not forcing anyone to do anything. They offer a service, and include a SELF-CUSTODY wallet option. That is it. Coinbase is not stopping anyone from buying crypto from anyone.
that's fine but I stopped using coinbase in 2013 because they were filling my orders at significantly different prices than quoted and with serious delays, like up to a week to fill an order. They have been a shady business since day one, and their success is completely predicated on having a slick interface and regulatory compliance.
Coinbase would not let me have my crypto and would not give a date when I could withdraw it. I cashed out and moved to Kraken. No problem with Kraken so far. Coinbase is not trustworthy from my personal experience.

Cex’es are becoming a problem because not everyone is on every exchange allowed, so a part of the liquidity sitting in these columns. We need a cex on icp which can connect to alle dex’es!
I was told by my CPA that only off ramping crypto to fiat is a taxable event. Crypto is property. A lot more to it but he said people are volunteering their trades when they don’t legally have to.
When you self custody, you eliminate coin bases possibility of buying the coins later for much cheaper than you paid for them. And this would result in never having an all-time high again.
they need it. coinbase's liquidity is getting worse and worse. wouldn't be surprised if they go bankrupt soon. no one wants to use an exchange that always stops withdrawals. 🙄
Coinbase has pulled it off once more. How many palms did they grease for this to unfold? Their skill at influencing politicians to turn a blind eye seems to be improving.
If Coinbase was hacked, by for example, a certain country. Given the vast number of 'unhappy' customers it would create 2 potential excuses.......1 people might accept action against the hacker and 2 it could be used to 'prove' that 'crypto' is BAD, but Gov Coin is good....just guessing of course!

Coinbase isn't just a simple exchange, they are trying to create a 21st century financial platform. You can bash it all you want but it is completely unavoidable. And if you want the baby boomer generation and old Gen xers to jump in to the cryptocurrency space then you need to have a platform that somewhat resembles the legacy financial system to bring them and all their old money into crypto. My advice to millennials and Gen zeers is to get your assets off the exchanges and into cold storage. Let the older generations cling to antiquated models and take all the risks that come with it.
@@CryptoTips maybe you guys should do a refresher on this? There are a bunch of folks new to the game that seem to confuse holding, and trading. It amazes me that there are people who would not leave all their money in a Chase account, but would leave it on Coinbase. (For anyone reading this - if you don't hold the keys, you don't own the coins. same for cash. same for gold.)

Those of us who have to pay taxes buy Bitcoin ETFs in tax-free and retirement accounts for the tax benefits; however, I also hold an equal amount of 'physical' Bitcoin for insurance.
@@littlered7820 I'd expect to pay some tax, but the gov't spends too much and therefore takes too much. If we paid no taxes, the country would look worse than a bombed out Bangladeshi suburb. Plus, we'd have to shop Road Warrior style due to no police. I doubt we'll ever have fair taxation. And I have no choice to move due to caring for my ageing parents.
@@1967MGC Actually, that's a fallacy that's been indoctrinated into us - in short, majority of all state contracts are executed by private sector anyway, not government....with only about 5% of all tax actually returning back to the citizens in a net effect [ the so called 'roads', 'security', 'schools' and all the lame excuses they give us ]
I had my btc wrapped up in Robinhood where I created a RH wallet, then sent it to my hardware wallet. Have I done this the wrong way if I wanted to be anonymous?
Personally I would have created a throw away wallet, such as Electrum or Sparrow to receive the bitcoin from the exchange, then transfer it from the throw away wallet to your hardware wallet. Electrum and Sparrow allow you to create wallets at the press of a button so if you make a fresh one for every time you want to receive or move crypto from your hardware wallet it adds an extra layer of seperation

Get out of the US, get a new citizenship. Renounce your US citizenship. If they audit your taxes you're screwed. Comply with all your tax laws and stay out of jail until you can get to a friendly or inept jurisdiction.
