Brings back memories from 75. I had this crush and relationship with this girl and this was her favorite. Every time I visited her she would play this Coke cut.
Love this song. Coke and Linda Tillery made it happen. This came from my favorite album by Coke , I couldn't stop playing and singing my heart out to it.
Loved this song as a 12-13 y.o kid Remember seeing him for the 1st time on Don (Kishners ?) Rock Concert, I believe came on NBC in the early 70's..somebody add some correction here, or fill in the blanks that I left out. But I''m sure that this is Shelia E's pappy
@@zebop - I stand corrected. Thanx for that info. I was just about positive Coke was her dad. I possibly just remembered my info incorrectly. I remember when George Duke's L.P "Reach For It" came out in 1978, and the first song; side A "We Give Our Love, Which actually made me buy the album to begin with aired on Detroits former jazz station WJZZ. And I think I recall the radio personality that played it stating that Coke was her dad, but made mention of the fact that Shelia Escoveto was the one playing the percussion, and speculated if she had played in a drumline in highschool or college, but doted on her playing ability. But trying to remember exact details of 1978 in 2022, my recall maybe isnt as precise as I like for it to be. Dukey Stick had yet to be played on the commercial R&B stations at the time, and not for about a week and a half at that point in time. So taking that trip back down memory lane, had the album before my "fusion jazz friends, and played "Dukey Stick" before the R&B stations were playing in in Detroit, so by the time it hit, I was way out in front of everyone I knew, who bought records like I did back then. But I beat people to a lot of stuff back then 😊.
