I agree with what's been said already. Cold Case used a sensitive and stigmatized subject and treated it with such tenderness respect. It showed that love is love.
Amen! There were SO many well-written, LBGT-friendly episodes or episodes with some element of it (this one, Best Friends, A Time to Hate, It's Raining Men, Forever Blue, Lonely Hearts, etc.) This show was revolutionary and I'm sorry it's no longer airing.
PrincessofPower84 it would have devolved into marxist propaganda (if you can call it marxist) like Law and Order SVU a.k.a The Benson show, or The Olivia Benson Menagerie of Crap, better it stays like it is, untainted.
@@lolosmith8446 Agreed. I'm still angry that it lasted longer than the original (and superior) L&O. I guess people prefer sensationalism over substance.
I am a make, not trans, but my first great love was a young man with whom I went to high school. In those days, such feelings were not permitted to be expressed unless surreptitiously and covertly, and I was too much a coward to give any expression to them,. Now, in my old age, I regret having never told him.
This is the most beautiful episode. Talking about the transgender issue whit the appropriate care and explaining the sadness and soul pain of transexual person due to the judgement and prejudice of other person. But this episode also show that most people, as the guys - boyfriend could understand that there is nothing wrong in sex or gender change. The guy's smile is something of lovely that the transgender person could deserve
15 years ago I watched this episode and I cried. And in 2022 on this day I watched this clip again and tears still roll down my cheeks. One of the best episode of Cold Case. 💖
I'm 28 now but back in 2008 I fell in love with a girl who looks strikingly similar to Daniela. Her name was Erika , I wanted to shout our love from the highest mountain but Erika wanted to wait because she was too ashamed to meet my family. I told her they'd love her even if she wasn't born a female.. she died in 2009 , she hung herself in our apartment .. she left me a note to this day, I can't open it but it's in my house safe.. my heart is still in a million pieces, even 8 years later she still affects me.. why the fuck did you leave me.. no signs of depression, were you hiding it? I was supposed to be home that day but was called in to work.. it was our 1 year anniversary a few days after she died, I was going to propose to her that weekend, I never tear up but even the thought of her makes me cry like a baby.. till we meet again my love.. Ill love u forever CC♡ER 2008-eternity
I have to agree with you. I ,too am a straight man and this episode almost made me cry. Forget it was about a boy falling in love with a transgender, it was a beautiful tragic love story. I love that they finally meet in the end and she is finally the "woman" she's always wanted to be. Then they dance the waltz.. Just so poignant and beautiful.
Straight man here too, but love is love, and if two people find it, hold it and cherish it...My heart breaks for those who never find it or those who find it but never get to embrace it...I'll admit , this episode had me wiping my eyes,
felt this too. straight as an escrima stick, but dealt with having to learn that Discipline of the Body and of the Mind because of my penchant for interracial dating during the 1970s & early 1980s. I never pursued anything with this wygirl for fear of being hurt or her being hurt. She ended up in an endogamous, but abusive marriage before she died. When I found out about her death, I tried to imagine her coming back to my house for one last dance, but I know that "the living know we're gonna die but the dead know nothing, their love, their hatred, their envy and their thoughts die with them and they have no part of anything under the sun and will remain in their graves until the end of time." Still, it was my way of closure.
@PS Gary Everyone has regrets in life....mine is letting go of my black girlfriend because of my Mexican family. she ended up passing away on Christmas years back from a overdose. I Can honestly say I still think about her every day ....ahhhh life right
*I am the original poster (MrsMac5) of these Cold Case Ends. RU-vid 'cited' me for too many Copyright breaches and blocked most of the videos. What you see on here is all that's left, yet I have made the end of every episode.*
I am 20 years old now. I was much younger when I saw this episode and I was kinda transphobic I guess? I didn’t really care for trans people and their issues. This episode made me cry a lot, it changed the way I saw these people completely and helped me to grow up. Thank you.
Man in the mirror no final.
Powerful and very moving episode. IF there is Best of Cold Case Listing this episode has to be in the top three. It's haunted me ever since I saw it. It challenged me to grow and change long held beliefs for the better. It left me in tears as well. That says alot about a television show that can do that in an hour.
i miss this show why in the hell cbs cancelled it,,, such a good show and man those powerful endings when the cases were solved, and the murder victim ghost would be in background with a sense of peace they're case was solved.
They should bring the show back, the only people I can think of who would cancel it are the killer who Lilly caught (not applicable to this clip I know)
They had MASH and All in the family on the air forever, but the breach of permission for music copyrights got them. I am sure that if they could they would have kept the show going!
I'm rewatching the entirety of Cold Case again with my parents and this episode + "A Time to Hate" were both so important to me. I cried a lot in both ending sequences, they were so respectful to the victims. I'm a trans person in a reasonably difficult country to be LGBT+, and seeing that the true culprit of this case was hatred was very touching. I love the way Cold Case handles these types of cases, it means a lot to me.
The "Titanic" of the Cold Case franchise! On the ship, socio-economic differences could not keep Jack and Rose apart, and in disco-era Philadelphia, ignorance regarding transgenderism couldn't touch Chris and Daniela! There is one thing deeper than even the ocean - and that is the heart.
Well, I mean, it did though. Spoilers: Just saw this episode on TV yesterday. Chris' dad forced them to split up and Daniela took her own life. Chris may have changed his mind later at the dance but he was too late.
I know how hard it is for transgender women in this world. I hope this episode opens people's eyes. Especially in the 1970s before I was born, before transgender women had rights 💖💖
The lyrics really match the match the episode, especially at the beginning and when the boy "sees" Daniela again! "All your life you've waited for a love to come and stay and now that I found you you must not slip away" "You fight the love you feel for me Instead of giving in But I can wait forever for helping you to see that I was meant for you and you for me"
LGBTQ people have always had tragic endings in media. It's gotten better recently, thank god. But I remember at the time thinking that, despite a trans girl being the victim, this was a great portrayal. One ahead of its time in its insistence that she be referred to as 'she', and not deadnamed (which is what it's called when a trans person is called by their old/birth name - the one associated with the gender they were assigned at birth - rather than by their chosen name.)
We watch Cold Case regularly, this was one of the best episodes. It surprised me to hear this song at the end of this episode. It's one of my favourites, by David Gates/Bread, so much so I have had it in one of my vinyl jukeboxes for a long time. The song got a bit more exposure as a version was included as the final track on a CD by Rumer. Nowhere near as good as the David Gates version. Sad that he's the last one left alive of the original "Bread."
I don't care what race, type, prefer type , , If you are good to me , I will stand by you, as my friend ...4ever ...this a quality most do not have . just sayn
Very sad song, but to find out this song by David Gates was at the end of a Cold Case Episode, even more heartbreaking. What was indeed sad was that when I saw this, a friend of mine had suddenly passed away. Was only 44 years old, and very healthy, vibrant, intelligent gay man. He died of ongoing pancreatic issues. He'd struggled with his sexuality when he was younger, as his parents were super religious. But they finally accepted him. I had been a pretty shitty friend to him, and in the end apologized and told him, I hope to be better. I never got that chance to be better. We had our differences over a group he ran last year. And I was upset over a rejection in that group. Folks, be a good friend and let your resentments go! Not worth it, as we only have a short time on this earth to love each other.
I always love when the ghost appears but this time it feels more like is saying goodbye not just because the case is close but time change and now everything is ok
@charvelgtrs , Thank you. Your words are very moving and true, IMO. I am a 42 yr. old gay man and I'm so encouraged by people like you that see that Love is Love, period. The genders matters not, it's the emotion that is lasting and the most important. You are a special man, any woman would be lucky to be with you! TY again, Mark
Jezus, I was totally in panic for 20 minutes because I was watching Cold Case and I heard a song what looks like this song. I can sing a few lines and I can't found it. But now... FINALLY I FOUND IT. Thanks!!
Love this song, always have. And I LOVE "Cold Case" because it's constant excellence and representing diversity in all of its beauty, like "Daniela". I cannot believe that CBS has cancelled this amazing show, what are they thinking? A mystery-drama-sentimental show like "Cold Case" simply doesn't exist anywhere else, and their commitment to showing All human stories(as much as possible). Anyone who doesn't know TNT shows reruns everyday.
It's the title of a song that the world has been waiting for you to compose and record. (I'll do the album cover and design T-shirts for the 'Spilling Liquid' tour)!
Actually, it was just David Gates. He was asked to write and perform the song for the movie, "The Goodbye Girl." Even so, it sounds exactly like a song by Bread which really isn't surprising. The music was such an important part of Cold Case and this song provides the perfect background for the ending of this episode.
One of my favorites episodes... it's so so sad, when I think in Cold Case I think in this epi... the Daniela's history... I's sad for the guy... he really loved Daniela and now he is alone, OMG I criying again...
The part you want to see, is my by far my fav scene from Cold Case as a show. I've never cried so hard over anything tv related in my life until I saw this episode and it still has the same effect on me when I watch this clip.. The annoying thing for me is i've literally only seen this whole episode once!
This was, in the words of my brother in law, a "buy a Costco size box of Kleenex" episode. Cold Case, I've noticed, tends to be really focused on the idea that the "good old days" were anything but for those who could not fit into a certain society structure and mold. I wonder if the writing staff keeps copies of Howard Zinn and Stephanie Coontz near the episode bibles.
Cold Case has been and will be the only series that I may sentimental. 'Daniela', a great and unforgettable episode /*Sorry for my poor english, I'm latin girl fan of CC*
sarika love tracitay51 They may NEVER come out in DVD or Bluray because of all the different songs at the endings and the rights to those songs. It's been held up forever so I doubt it will happen at this point. Everyone still has to get paid every time it's aired or played (artist or their estates). Just how to accomplish this is a quagmire because you'd not only be buying a TV show you'd be buying soundtracks too which is expensive addition with royalties. Some songs are not in circulation anymore...just a handful. It may also be the reason they rarely air reruns nowadays too. Sad.
