Just came here to say that this episode is based off one of the most famous crimes in my small town of West Memphis. They’re called the West Memphis three and they were wrongly convicted and were released my freshman year in Highschool. The way they worked the case into the story is amazing, even down to the stepfather being the one who was actually guilty. Dad was friends with the cops-that’s how it goes in small towns. They were alternative kids in the Bible Belt during the satanic panic. It’s incredibly unfortunate.
I think it's interesting people in west Memphis still believe they did it, didn't help media lied big time and a small satanic panic was going on Town I came from had a murder in the 70s that was covered up, if it made it to national news it would have made laws protecting college students a thing earlier then it did
Fun fact: as the camera pulls away from Vera and Jeffries putting the case box away, above them on the next shelf you can see James Hoffman's case box from the Knuckle Up episode. I love little details like that
Trust me after the truth came out they’re both going to have a lot of explaining to do especially the cop he ruined both lives and now he’s going to suffer for it he makes me sick. As for the false witness a full apology or else she’ll be getting the same treatment.
I might be the only one who feels this way but The mom is just to blame as the police officer because she knew it was her husband and instead of turning him, she is said nothing and let two innocent teens sit in jail for a crime they didn't commit Even Lil calls her out on what she did
Not getting the Nirvana songs for 'Detention' really did this episode a favor. They worked a lot better here imo. It still blows my mind how good this episode is.
Yeah, and the guy playing the killer? He's better known for his voice acting roles. (Mass Effect, Republic Commando, Knights of the Old Republic). Oddly enough, played Jiminy Cricket in Once Upon a Time.
I really wish they would have shown the crooked detective and the lying witness at the end. They deserve to have their lives torn apart, since they effectively killers themselves, responsible for poor Teddy killing himself.
@mimato good episode but they should have shown footage of that girl who lied about the lads confessing being arrested, her lies lead to two wrongful arrests and a suicide
Don’t worry afterwards there’s going to be very serious explaining to do I do not care about detectives reputation or bloody rules because let’s just say they took everything for the actions of being freaks And now those people gonna suffer for it.
It's sad that they haven't found the person who killed the boys in the real case yet. (Es triste que no se haya encontrado a la persona que mato a los niños en el caso real)
She didn’t know about the full extended till only after her son’s death. Beside you seen what he’s like in the dark one bad shadow move and you’re done for.
Still would've been better though if there was some huge neo-Nazi hugging him from behind the dark with a look of malicious intent. Also missing, that d-bag detective who was originally on the case seeing his face in the local paper as he gets publicly discredited. That would've put him in line, for what it's worth.
What I don’t get is how Jack having the stuff animal led them to his dad? There was a clip earlier where he had it, when he mentioned it keeps the dragon away. Wouldn’t that mean anyone could’ve been the killer?
People thought they died in the pool. But because of the mud not being on the bicycles since it rained the night before, they realised they were brought there and not killed there. That means for them to have the stuffed animal, it would have been someone they had known. He probably had it with him at all times at home when it was time for bed rather than with him 24/7 so the only person who would put it in his arms specifically would be someone that knew him. It was in his arms not the friends so that’s also a big clue.
The montage would've been better if not only was the perp left in the dark but also with some big, burly neo-Nazi putting his hand on the perp's shoulder, giving him a knowingly malicious look. That perp deserved a lot more than what came at him.
