The song, to me, was about the daughter. Even after so many years, she always kept in touch with Jeffries, always trying to understand what happened to her mother. The last thing her mother told her was that she was the love of her life. More than the men that she was worrying about, more than her loneliness, her daughter was her true love, and while at the time the daughter didn't get it, once she lost her mother, she understood. But it was too late - her true love, the mother that came to treasure her died, and she was left broken hearted forever. No time was able to heal that.
I just saw this recently, very underrated episode. In addition to Helen's heartbreak, I can't help but feel like Jed must be equally heartbroken over having killed Libby. His body language here makes it seem like he is racked with guilt over killing her. Even though she didn't reciprocate his feelings for obvious reasons, the two of them had a very special friendship. Jed ended up killing a dear friend in the heat of the moment and chose to suffer alone with that tremendous guilt for 27 years. He tried to forget that painful memory and bury it in his past, but now, as Anne Murray sings: time will never heal his guilt.
This is one of my favorite episodes, but my all-time favorite is "Fireflies", when we find out the victim was still alive and reunited with her childhood friend...
Loved everything about this show very poignant and heart felt yah learn yah must let go and move on yet since most of the victims were young the living went on with their lives but the dead are forever young even if parents or older siblings or friends who never got to grow up and old like their peers and friends so loved this show.
One of the few episodes where I felt so sorry for the murderer as for the victim. I think the final song is dedicated to the victim, her daughter and the young murderer. They are all broken hearted people...
Annie Wersching who played the mother (victim) in this episode is an amazing actress who was equally excellent on season 7 of "24" - and she'll be back in season 8, too! :)
You should use, more, because when you write it's important, how else do you want to, really, comunicate? Otherwise, only God may know what you want to say! God bless you!
The show was incredible maybe too quirky for its time plus the last 2 years weren't as nostalgic period shows can be costly the last 2 years they sometimes went back only a decade or less not 15,20,30,40 like the 1st years plus its not on DVD because of copyright issues of this great music they showcased I haven't looked for the DVD in about 10 years the show did end in 2010 same happened with wonders years copyright issues delayed its DVD release by many years.
I agree! They need to bring back Cold Case for a few more stories and to clear the cliffhangers Season 7 left. We should have a revival set in 2011 (the year when the show was cancelled)
This episode is okay. Like alot of C.C. episodes, the other people/survivors don't reflect on the victims or see their loved ones as suspects in the end. I like the music, some of the fashion, and the victim's hairdo here. I don't really blame her for being lost into this shitty party and they see her as the bad guy, as if the party goers weren't to blame. Will looked good as a young cop in this one.
This might sound mean but I actually found Jed to be more sympathetic than Libby. His parents barely acknowledged his existence except when he was made to cater to their 'key parties'. His only friend was his fathers mistress and even she used him when she started bumping and grinding against him (she's in her thirties and he was fifteen, eww!) and then she's surprised that he got the wrong idea! He didn't even mean to kill her and yet the detectives look at him like he's a scumbag.
There is no argument there. Members of the law enforcement community see things in black and white. Did he commit the murder? Yes. He committed the crime he must suffer the consequences. Prosecutors will say he had a choice. He could have respected Libby's boundaries and not try to push his point. How much time he serves and what kind of charges he faces are contingent on what kind of deal the DA gives. For all we know he could have served 5 years for criminally negligent homicide
Where can I watch full episodes? I used to watch on a Japanese site but it gave my laptop a virus so now idk where to go to see the full episodes. Cold Case really needs to be on Netflix.
I like that the supporting actors of Cold Case get good screentime and development as well as the main. Jeffries, Miller and Vera all had many cases and episodes in which they were the main focus among the team. I do have a fondness for Jeffries-focused episodes though (this one, Strange Fruit and Death Penalty: Final Appeal)
I love the show, but this is probably probably my least favorite episode. I still can't believe they had the boy be the doer. On top of that, his parents are shown just going on with their lives, like their son just hadn't been arrested for murder. Yeesh! I do like the actress who plays the victim though. She just joined the cast of "24" this season (as did the guy who played the doer in "Hubris").
This was one of my favorite CC episodes, but as with most of them, I found the ending implausible. There's no way that kid had any motive to kill, or even force himself upon Libby. He came across as too nice in the earlier scenes.
@@Trix897 Try again. If I remember this case correctly, she made a move too and he reciprocated sloppily(he was 17 or 18), she should have cut off cold turkey but I disagree that this case is implausible. The victim just made bad decision after bad decision and she got killed for going to meet him as this to the killer implied she was more okay with the move and then being shot down again ended in an argument kill. But to term this as incel means you are applying your own prejudices and terminology to a time period it did not apply(ep late 70s and show early 2000s)
@Despair Gumshoe it was about the parents ignoring the kids, I mean the fondue scene is so messed up. The problem was the boy looking to her to be his mother figure given how his real mother ignored him, just like the teen he was hurting inside to. Moral here is be a better parent and stop acting like kids.
She could be a good mom or bad mom. She had no right to use a person like that for her own devices particularly a young man like that. Using him to drive for her affairs and leading him on. Murder is wrong but this was more on aggravation than cold-blooded as you make it out to be. Showing the solar eclipse after using the boy as bait to his father. She wanted to cover up her guilt. In the end, the mother got what she deserved.
Yeah, season 5 has good episodes. I also think season 5 is superior in quality of episodes to that of season 4's. But I love season 4 because of the sad incident of youths(knuckle up, stand up and horrer etc) and the parents (black out, baby blues, save Sammy etc). And mostly I LOVE THE BGM OF THIS SEASON THE MOST.
let see the killer was only like fifteen at the time and the victim brought the murder weapon with that pin hole camer kit. Plus it was a heat of the moment killing. All this adds up to maybe unplanned manslaughter. no premeditaion involved. God Anne Murray has a beautiful voice.
No one ever deserves to die even if certain actions are wrong if I am not mistaken in most states this is usually 1st degree manslaughter which is punishable by up to a life sentence
I guess that makes sense. Doesn't answer how young Helen hardly looks like both of her parents only to grow up to resemble both of them and rather young for her age, though. Or how blonde-haired young Jed grew up to be a dark-haired guy.
Oh that's easy, it happens in my family with my siblings. They start off blonde but then have dark brown hair when they're older. It's how his genetics works, darkening at a certain age
I loved the episode and how touching it was, especially the final montage. Just some inconsistencies: - How does a 16 y/o girl with Mediterranean features come from parents with Anglo-Saxon features and then she grows up to be like her parents? And even then, Helen's grown-up self looks younger than 40. - How does a blonde-haired teen grow up to be a dark-haired man? - How was Libby able to go to the woods without her own car? I assume Jed went there by his lonesome.
I did not like this episode. Screwing other people's partners only wrecks lives. It caused a split in my extended family..... Things are never the same. Now they call in 'swingers', hey ppl let's be moral, come on !
@D22queen He mistuke common jestures as love signs. He got angry that there was nothing going to go on between them. He then stabbed her while he tried to make out with her and she was trying to get freed.
Does anybody know the name of the episode where a teen boy was killed by his teacher while his girlfriend gives birth in a closet in their high school. Then she abandons the baby after she thinks that her boyfriend leaves her?
Good gawd, I can't stand the way that D.A. looks, it's like she saw a ghost and her face was stuck that way permanently!! It's just as bad as that horse-toothed A/V-whatever-she-does. Scotty has crappy taste in women! I'd rather see him with Chris than Horsey or Ghost Witness! But I like him with Elisa most since she grew up with him.
Thanks so much for re editing this video because it was crappy and not the complete song because this song is just AWESOME!!! and beautiful 😍. Kudos 👏 💐 for the person who did it because never ever again people who watched will forget Ann Murray ❤️ and this episode from Cold Case God bless you 🙏
Some of the episodes were hard to watch sometimes 😢😢. They could be sad. I know the 70 is headed to vans, but swinging what is the most stupidest thing you could ever do no wonder some of the kids acted crazy by seeing how their parents were acting stupid
I disagree. She played him and he got her out for revenge using him as revenge bait for his cheating for (her lover). I have no sympathy for the "Mrs. Robinson's who deserve what they get. The only thing that the boy should have done is confessed immediately. That teacher knew she did him wrong and tried to heal matters with this bull of this "solar outing" hoping the boy will forgive.
I didn’t feel sorry for the victim the parents didn’t have the decency to at least not behave like swingers around the children but they couldn’t do it the killer as wrong as he was to kill her was a child abuse victim
I felt worse for the killer than for the victim, want to have the free love lifestyle? Ok, but keep the kids out of this, maturity is a thing and getting a teenager involved in this can mess up their mind.
