I just purchased the 4 Max and the 4 Max Scout. They were at a price I couldn't pass up. I'm a knife collector, so I think these knifes will be a great addition. These knives are big, yes, but when you want a knife that will stand up without worrying you are going to break it, these are it. Thanks for the great review.
Mine arrived today, i have the same cut in almost the same place. All my folders till now are liner locks. Its not huge as i thought even in my small hands. But its hugely awesome!
I got news for you fella's. That plastic is actually very close to a "phenolic" and is as tough as plastic gets. It is stronger and will last longer than G10. CS G10 is awesome grippy when its new. Carry it in your pocket for a year and it is no longer grippy. G10 will wear out on you.
I wish Cold Steel would put the for Max Scout's handle texture on the voyagers FRN handle scales. Those giant raised Maltese crosses all over the handle are uncomfortably aggressive and shred your pockets. The 4Max Scout probably delivers the most bang for your buck in Knifedom right now. I'm so impressed with mine I just bought another in the FDE color.
I appreciate it. Think alot of it has to do with my reviewing style. Lots of folks don't like the long videos but that's just my style, I just like talking about knives. I contribute a lot of that to having been watching Nutnfancy for 10+ years now lol. But I'm still a young channel, only started posting about 2 months ago so we will see how it goes!
@@everydayknives496 lol well i told scab over at choirboyz cutlery about you he was the first person to shout me out and got me some subs idk if you know about him hes got a good channel tho
The top tier Cold Steel 4 Max has S35VN steel. I got my 4 Max Scout a couple weeks ago. It’s a bruiser! I like my AD-10 and my AD-15. But I keep reaching for the 4 Max Scout when I’m going out the door. Cold Steel’s AUS-10A is actually comparable in performance to CPM154. Cold Steel does a great job with their AUS10A.
Agreed on Cold Steel's AUS10A, they do a great job. And yea, out of the 10-15 knives I carry on a "normal" rotation, it's the 4Max about 50% of the time. I like the AD-15, but really thinking of picking up a Demko AD-20 here pretty soon!
Funny, I was really close to ordering one when they dropped the other day. But having to make reviews, decided I should be spending that money on something different than to buy a different version of something I already had.. May still get one down the road though!
@@everydayknives496 I know you’d like it! But I hear ya, it’s tough to decide what not to get, especially when thinking about reviews. If only they weren’t so expensive.....haha
Tell that to my buddy Craig who had to get a finger re-attached thanks to a Cold Steel Espada XL 🤣 True Story!! But yes lol, a little blood just means that us as the users had an oopsie and the knife is doing what it was meant to do!!
For the better steel I was going to spend the bigger bucks $ Now I'm glad I didn't because the Scout is Stout and very capable and I don't see any need for a super expensive Super Steel in that blade design. ⚔️😜
as a u.s. marine vet here 93' to 97' active, i am very proud to have this knife as my go to e.d.c knife for all situations or needs out there , would love to talk more bro, keep em coming , 1000% cool , thanks > tom !
That 4max is nice, it's going on my wishlist!! I bought 4 Big folders from SMKW in the early aughts, that are made in Pakistan, earth wood handles, and get a load of this, they are 16" full length, and only 10 bucks a piece!! I recall ordering a lot of knives from SMKW over many years, they carry a wide variety of brands. 🙏✌
I bent my clip so it would slip in and out the pocket with ease , because before that I could not get it in my pocket for carrying. They are very well made by Cold Steel and Andrew Demko. 💯💰💯
@@tomquirin4231 I have a video showing the clips bent , I may make a video showing exactly how I bent the clips on my Cold Steel Folder pocket clips ⚖️✨⚖️
@@powerplay4real174 ok, will sub to your channel and check it out, i am a u.s. marine vet here also 93' to 97' active and just started e.d.c.ing this knife , great carry for myself 1000% cool , thanks , > tom !
Wow I got my 4 max today. It is huge and I found that the blade release spring is very heavy and considerable pressure is required to push the release down. Well the first thing I did was too cut the crap out of my finger pretty bad. Its not a one hand flipper its two risky on cutting fingers. This is not a casual blade its dangerous. That being said I cant wait to take it to the steak house to slice my steak. LOL I love it if I can keep all my fingers.
LOL King, Well I have always carried a fixed blade everyday. Sometimes concealment is a good thing and This is what I was looking for. Ill have to practice more. Thanks for the advice.
I bought the ad10 though i could edc it but no way man, thing too big i cut myself way too much and that back lock solid but i just can get use to it, had to send that bad boy back, but its a solid ass knife like if you rambo lol
Hold your forefinger forward up tight in the belly of the handle grip, release the lock with the thumb of the same hand. Works great i do it with all my cold steel large and Xl folders. Give it a try.✌
@@King88_8 This is a big ass knife. I carry it in my pocket with no issues but I cant flicket. I use the thumb stud to push the blade out and use my other hand to open the blade. KEEP YOUR FINGERS AWAY FROM THE OPENED HANDLE WHEN CLOSING. IT WILL CUT YOU BAD IF YOUR FINGER GETS IN THE WAY. lol
@@heyoldtime8969 I know it's big. I own one but I can flick it. I use the thumb stud to flick. To flick tjr thumb movement is less than rotating out. Own many Cold Steels as I need working knives not pocket jewelry. But as I was joking, the shock of that blade snapping open might give you carpal tunnel syndrome... You know... Because it's so big.... There's also a way to close Cold Steel one handed. Holding as normal but with index forward, you disengage lock with the thumb(something Nick Shabazz can't do) , the blades ricsasso moves onto your index finger joint. Rotate knife while moving fingers out the way. With index finger, close blade towards you... Maybe I'll have to make a vid
Lol, yea still kicking.. life was slow when I was posting.. Has sped back up now. I should try to film again eventually, have bought/sold/traded probably 100+ knives since my last video..
