Stopped the video at the 3 min mark and grabbed my 4MaxScout because it did not make sense to me! WOW! You do have big hands! I kept saying, in my video, that probaly 99% of people do not need such a big knife! Well...you are that 1%. Man you look that thing seem small(regular sized)! :)) The reasons you mentioned about how you have to put your fixed blade away when going into town...that is also why i like to have a folder over a fixed blade. I did abuse mine, much harder than in my video, but i have not made a spear out of it. That I would not do! But I appreciate you doing that test! For chopping...may I recommend the "SpartanJohns Pinky Lanyard - Patent Pending". It gives you great grip and you can make an even better chopper out of the 4MaxScout. Plus it does not get in the way when you work with the knife so you can leave it on the knife. I liked your comment at the end about the "table views"! :)) I think "table tops" are ok...for seeing the knife, and maybe hearing some oppinions about it. But videos like yours and what Joe made...I like seeing this style of videos. I also test but you guys go a step further. I liked it! You got a new subscriber!
Joex is a different kind of tester for sure! Your tests were very good and logical. Great video. It’s a good knife when it makes you smile throughout the testing.
@@LXT43 He‘s testing every knife to its maximum with same conditions, so you can compare different knives and their behavior of the blade and handle material … so it can save some of your money, nothing wrong with that 🍻
Ahhh. You made me buy it. I also bought the cold steel SR1 Lite. I'm going to try to find a sheath big enough for it. That way, I won't lose it in the mountains.
21:00 Yeah, Andrew Demko mentions this story in one of the Cold Steel YT videos, where on the prototype (untested) of the AD-10 (I think) Lynn Thompson wanted to take and test the knife on a safari, so originally the hole was designed to accept a hardened steel pin to protect Lynn's fingers and then left as an aesthetic choice on production models. Great video and making me reconsider the 4-Max scout (I have the AD‐10 and Bush Ranger and a few fixed blades like the SRK and Kobun). In general the Cold Steel range around 40-150 USD is very high value.
I've been watching lots of videos lately about the 4 Max Scout but this is one of the very few I've watched all the way to the end! Very well done review of the 4 Max Scout. Thank you!
the big secret of cold steel is that their lesser expencive copies of more expencive are actually better knives for everyday use - the cheaper steel can be easily sharpened and less prone to chipping than the harder steels - it must be the heat treat they give the knifes with cheaper steel
Very thorough usage test for a woodland environment! Just picked this knife up as an impulse buy because it was 50% discounted. After seeing all that it can do it will probably find a home in a small emergency kit that I sometimes throw in a pack for day hikes or overnight camping.
Great video! I have one of these. Its a beast. Unbelievable quality at an amazing price. If I had to choose one folding knife to go out in the woods this is it!
Complimenti!
Awesome testing and awesome blade! I never see people standing on the folder they just hammered into a stump for three seconds, unreal. A testament to the Demko locking mechanism and design, and Cold Steel manufacturing.
There is actually the small hole in the handle where you can attach a pin that essentially does make it a fixed blade! You can thank Mr Andrew Demko for designing this beast I sure do love mine
Really good video. Cold steel makes some pretty good blades in my opinion. I own a few different ones and liked them all. Keep on with the great videos. 👍👍
Great knife, unbeatable for the price; i had a metal sign nailed to a tree i put the scout between the back of the sign and tree to pry the sign off worked perfect and no damage at all.
Long story (almost 1 hour long) short : YES Look for Joe X destruction test... So, no disrespect intended : if that blade withstood those insane tests - I guess it will be on par with majority of fixed blades 😊 It's the single folder (if I'm not mistaken) of that "crazy man" graduates 😊😊😊
Great review, I have that knife and have been known to beat my knives up, but you did some things with it that I don't plan on ever doing, but it's great to know that it can! God bless, and stay safe in this fallen world. ~dan
Awesome review. I also have the Cold Steel 4Max Scout and I can attest to how much of a beast this knife is, I use it for chopping, carving, batoning, and everything that a knife can be used for and some stuff that probably shouldn't be used for lol. The steel is great and really well heat treated and the lock has never failed on me. There is a 5" custom version of this knife called the 5Max that Andrew Demko made in a very limited run (only about 5 of them I think) but one youtuber that owns one is Jimislash. He has an amazing Cold Steel and Andrew Demko collection you should check him out. Thanks for the look see and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.
Good review mate and good tests. You were not afraid to really go out for it. Now it would have been great from a viewer’s perspective to see that in a more condensed way. I’m sure that you could have done all the tests and give the same informations in a 20 to 25 minutes video. That would likely help the channel to grow. Keep on the good work.
Recently got cold steel voyager drop point. Love it although it just sits in my drawer and I pick it up a couple of times per week just to feel that quality and beauty. But now I am getting obsesses with 4 max scout after watching many reviews, so maybe I will go mad at some point and get that one too. The shitty part is that cold steel knives are like 2-3 times more expensive in Europe than in US and that really pisses me
Although US deserves to be nuked by Russia considering how US promoting and wage wars every possible corner of the world, I can assure you, US will drop nuke first. Knowing the fact that my country, the US is in the pocket of the military industrial complex. God save our country. Back to the rewiev: excellent.
@@customvikingI only asked because more and more Americans are now into Vikings. I think if, like us, you don't have Germanic Celtic ancestors, you should keep your feet still
