Kevin, I subbed to your channel and find your knife reviews some of the best out there. To the point without the extra pomp that we don’t need. Cold Steel has been killing it lately with these Demko designs. Can’t wait to see what he comes out with next!
Choosing an EDC is dependent on the clothing you wear. I'm in the middle of winter in the Adirondacks just south of Canada. I wear big pocket coats. The 4 Max goes with me. I carry backup knives in other pockets. When it warms up, I carry Recon 1 blades.
That AD10 is one very fine folder. Cold Steel has defeated many knives 2,3, and 4 x the price. I've got a $40 CS Talwar that defeated a $250 Benchmade Bedlam.
@@Kevinclearysharpstuff I've got to start saveing my money and get me a cold steel knife .witch cold steel knife should I get frist because it's going to be a while be fore I can get me another one .great video.
Alright Mr Kevin Cleary, I would love to see a comparison review video on the Cold Steel SR1, AD10, Bush Ranger, and Ultimate Hunter and any other bushcrafty style knives from Cold Steel or other manufacturers that you consider strong and tanky, but still very comfortable and usable in hand. Maybe cutting tests, sharpness, edge retention, blade steels, strength and so on. I really look forward to seeing your video. Top banana dude. Cheers
Guys, like Kevin said, they are both great. if u have to have one , buy the 4 max. It is not a lot bigger than ad10, very comfy in the hand, better steel and slightly stronger. If u don't have the money , buy the ad 10, ur missing almost nothing, great knife , cuts like a dream. If you have the money, buy both, I bet they will be the benchmark for future folder strengths and usability
I agreed with everything you said regarding the AD10 and hollow grinds. Something you didn't mention is that the AD10 has that fun factor, it sounds great and you can finger flick it! I wouldn't be surprised if the second batch goes faster than the first! The AD10 is my early favorite for knife of the year.
The AD10, usually sell for $190.00 dollars but, you can find them on ebay between $143.00 to $200.00, got mine for $146.00, and I’m very happy with the price, outstanding knife/ tool, you said it all in the video good job, I will subscribe too your channel.
I bought the AD10. Liked it so much I gave one to my friend for Christmas gift. You can beat that knife and still skin an animal if you wanted. The pocket clip is about the only thing that kinda gets on the nerves with it’s shape. It’s super stiff and super wide.
People saying the 4Max has tiny hardware. The handle screws screw into steel cylinders and those are mechanicly strong the way they are designed. There isnt shering force on the screws like you think.
I carry knives to see how they carry ! I tried the 4max scout ( the 4 max was a grail knife and I carried the buck 110 religiously )but if I carried the 4 max I would have to have a shoulder strap to hold my belt up !
DBK tested the AD10 as they test fixed blades. Batoning and all. Check it out! They even hammered it true a brick... Result, in their words: Unbreakable.
Kevin I love the music in the opening of your videos .were did you find that music at . And bythe way those are some cool cold steel knifes you have their.
Hey Kevin. I have heard you mention DLT Trading in reference to shipping from US to Canada. Would you buy folders through DLT with confidence? I’m in Nova Scotia.
Thanks for the video! I have the 4Max. Hey, it's really nice, but daaaamn it's big enough that it mostly has novelty value. Now, how about Rat-1 vs AD10?
I just referenced the Cold Steel AD 10. It is currently $179.00 USD and the Cold Steel 4Max is $359.00 USD. I looked up prices at Knifecenter.com, which generally has good prices and great service. No, I'm not affiliated with them, but have dropped a chunck of change with them over the years.
I am not disliking it by any means but As much as I like big folders, the 4-Max is beyond a folder and it will never be a fixed blade like a Becker BK-2. I want to like it but I just don’t get it other than wanting it. I may still end up buying it but won’t ever use it.
@@zero2three1 to me he is. To each his own right? I don't know about going onto someone's channel and telling someone their vids are not as good as someone else's tho... But I guess to each his own right?
@@bettss4597 How old are you betts? Just curious. I'm 47. Anyhow, I wasn't being mean spirited at all. Quite the contrary. Although my statement, on the surface, reads as if I'm saying one reviewer is better than the other, but it wasn't meant to be taken literally. I think Kevin, and Jimislash, would understand this.
Kevin, These knife production people Andrew Demco or who ever are out of their gourd charging 850+ for a knife…. Like I told Metal Complex…. The materials that the knife is made of , doesn’t justify the marked up price. I know MC got a little offended when I said that , but it’s common sense. Just because someone puts their name on it , doesn’t make the end justify the means. Yes the cost of an AD 10 , 4max scout or bench made griptillion can be justified, but not 900+!
@@Kevinclearysharpstuff Oh... My sorry. I missed the pin. I would've thought they'd be Stainless. I'm glad I found out after I bought it because I really like it and might not have pulled the trigger knowing that it has aluminum liners. Thank you for the reply.
just got the 4max scout for $95.00 !! the liners are not required ! just pur a think piece of G10 ! 10"of knife with a 4 " blade ! ridiculous ! I want the 6max with the same size handle ! and G10 handle with no ueless liners ! super steel is all hype !
I have the cold steel SR1, I think it’s FAR superior than these knives. No disrespect, I just think the SR1 is a masterpiece, not perfect but incredible. :)
The 4 Max is over twice the price in the UK, to the AD10. Same scales and the liners, just a extra 1mm in the thickness of steel. And slightly bigger. £375.00 compared to 173.00! Total rip off! You can buy 2 AD 10 and get change! I know what I bought! 3× Recon 1!
Actually, 4max liners are Titanium so is the big chunk backspacer, it’s titanium as well. Blade is also 20CV for the discontinued version and S35VN for new version. Triad lock is much thicker and can withstand 800+ lbs of strain before failure. The AD is a superb knife, but it is not a 4max. $400 for 4 max is a bargain.
The weight of the 4max will make you leave it home ass well ass the price ! What was the price for the ad10 ? See that isn't custom stupid high priced !!
