Highlights include Caufield's goals, assists, shots & passes during the 2018 IIHF U18 Championship in Russia. Caufield and Team USA won the silver medal. Look out for #22. Caufield is 2019 NHL Draft eligible.
With the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NHL draft the Vancouver Canucks select Cole Caufield. Can you imagine a PP with Pettersson, Boeser, Horvat, Caufield, Q Hughes.
Completely agree. If anything, I think he has a more dynamic set of hands on him so he's gonna be an absolute stud for whoever drafts him. I think he's gonna be one of those "surprise" top 5 picks cause he's a pure goal scorer
Great pick by the habs, the goalies aren't even going to be able to see him on the ice, especially when the habs wear white. Can't stop what you can't see.
Jerk Mehoff I disagree McDavid played with Eberle for a bit and they scored tons of goals together despite Eberle being 5’11... + the NHL is transitioning into a fast paced and skilled game he’ll fit in perfectly. Cole can be arguably better than Puljujarvi, Yamamoto and Rattie right now but at same time anybody could score tons of goals with McDavid but Cole already has a trait in his game where he always wants to score the puck
The only issue I have is...if he gets tackled many times by heavy guys, will he have the energy for a playoff. Haven't seen small teams win the cup, but maybe since the style of game changes...we will see many small teams in NHL in the near future.
Smaller teams are the future of NHL. With a great PP, the big teams will be afraid to be physical... now that refs are having scandals for not calling plays... watch it nect year.
Thanks! I think its possible, but unlikely. Even though the NHL has changed a lot towards smaller players, i still think size is something scouts will take into account. But you never know!
Just a question; The USNDP play against who? Like if they play against high school it’s understandable that he scores 72 goals with Jack Hughes but is he playing against good player?
The NTDP U18 team plays against 4 different leagues/levels; NCAA Div 1, NCAA Div 3, USHL, and at International Events (5 Nations, U18s). The goal count is the sum across all of them.
@UC0uBMEoDJSJ1rQr-7YivVAw I can almost assure you that St. Louis is not actually 5'8. He's more like 5'6 1/2. Guys give themselves inches all of the time in team programs. His weight though I believe, he is a beast. Besides that, I see the concern, but look at 5'7 DeBrincat or 5'9 Keller right now. They are both scoring at will. Caufield could easily be a similar player in a league where speed is now just as important as size.
Of course but he was 5'8". I get it's only 2 inches but when you are talking about being on the small side of forwards, then to go smaller? St. Louis was also 180 and this kid is 150-260 right now. Not the biggest of deals but definitely something to think about for a team who will draft around his ranking
Leave it to the Flyers to not even lose properly. I'm happy Hart has confidence after showing well in the NHL. I'm happy Coots, Patrick, Konecny, JvR and Lindblom all had great second-halves to hopefully make them come out of the gate in the 2019-20 season with a vengeance. But they're gonna have the worst: just missing the playoffs, while getting the worst lottery pick possible. We had a real chance of getting an elite difference maker in Jack Hughes, and obviously would've settled for Kaapo. Now, I think and agree with you that Caulfield is our best shot where we draft in 2019, aside from maybe Suzuki. Only because his brother had elite chemistry with Isaac Ratcliffe.
Imagine the following, if the Flyers continued to lose at that rate. Bad this year, amazing long-term. If we won the lottery, our lines within a year or two following the conclusion of this season would've been: LW Giroux C Coots RW Konecny, LW JvR C Hughes RW Voracek, LW Ratcliffe C Patrick RW Frost, LW Lindblom C Free Agent signing with their cap space to make four #1 lines, if you will/Laughton RW: Hartman. That's as elite and deep of a forward as we could possibly ask. Our defensive corps is young and highly talented with a goalie who will at least stabilize the Flyers goaltending situation for the first time in decades, if not perform better. Ugh. Still, if we could get Duchene, we'd have an elite squad. The same people all around, just substituting Duchene for Hughes. Also, Wade Allison and Joel Farabee will be amazing depth at RW and LW, respectively. In three years, I hope G and V are still performing top notch because the following would be just as good as the above: LW1: G 1C: Coots RW1: Konecny LW2: Farabee 2C: Duchene RW2: Voracek LW3: JvR 3C: Patrick RW3: Frost/Allison/Ratcliffe LW4: Lindblom 4C: Laughton RW4: Allison/Hartman Sanheim, Myers #1D Provy, Ghost #2D Morin, Hagg/Gudas/one of the 2016, '17 or '18 draftees Goalie: Carter Hart That's not just a contender; that's a legit Stanley Cup contender. From my POV, I'd sign Duchene if he would be willing to play here -- just give him his 8-year max, so we can have 2-5 years of prime contention for a Cup. When your third-line is as good or better than most first-lines, you have a great team. Same with our D and goalie situations. All of them excelled wherever they played beforehand, so it's not exactly a leap of faith. And who knows with the ultimate wildcard: Jay O'Brien.
The only thing he is lacking is speed and maybe a little bit of agility.. He has to work on them, otherwise he's gonna get killed in the NHL. Other than that, he's an amazing player.
