That's because the gearing is so bad. If I wanted to street ride with a straight chain like this I would build an engine capable of 7K RPM and use a 72 tooth sprocket. It would then have decent low end, cruise nicely at 35 mph and capable of 50 mph. A 72 tooth sprocket would work with a stock engine but you just wouldn't have as high a top speed. My Colemans are used for trail riding only. The torque converter is the way to go for off road.
