Can’t believe how much Samantha has grown up! But seeing Benjamin working the dumping duties was so fun to watch. Before long I can see him doing all the driving. 😆 As for the one “crop” of weeds being larger than the other, could it be because it gets water from both sides? You are such an inspiration. I am turning 67 next week and retired last year and I use (much smaller versions) things you plant and how you care for them and share those ideas with everyone. They think I’m so good but I always give you credit! Thanks for sharing!❤️🌺😎✌🏻

I appreciate Laura keeping it real about the humidity because for a while, I thought wow she just doesn't sweat at all, and here I am dripping with sweat in like 10 minutes! One video, she mentioned they had like 20% humidity, and I looked ours up, and we were at 100%, and it wasn't even raining. 😅😅 The coleus looks so beautiful already. Can't wait for that update later this summer. 💚💜

Finally you have weeds like those of us who have humidity and rain deal with!! That jungle-like overgrowth between the rows is what people are dealing with when they ask how you control weeds. I am sure that Aaron is aware of this. But here in Michigan, we plant our rows farther apart. The “weed” path is then mowed weekly and eventually becomes a nice grass path. Great for keeping the dust down and makes harvesting much easier. We never plant too close to our fences. The deer snack too much. We try to keep a large grass path next to our fences so mowing is maneuverable, quick and fast. Weeding those paths would be a nightmare in Michigan with all our rain and humidity. We try yo work smarter not harder BUT here in Michigan, Mother Nature sometimes still shows us that she has the upper hand. We have had a soggy early spring, late wet planting, three weeks of severe drought, hail three times and now flooding rain. The ground is so dry, the rain just runs off. Our Lake St. Lake is so low this year. Yet when it rain, our basements flood.

I am always so impressed Laura with your hard work ethic and how you see this kind of work as fun. I do too and envy you for your climate. It was 93 degrees and 80% humidity here in eastern NC today. I imagine most of the deep south is the same way. Its green as far as your eye can see with Carolina blue skies but oppressively HOT. A 15 minute casual walk with the dogs has one dripping wet. No way could I have done what you did unless it was 7 in the morning and then you are fighting mosquitoes. Plus we have such bad fire ants around here that we need to be always on our guard not to stumble into a nest while you're weeding. They are painful bites that will leave you itching for a week and unfortunately some folks are highly allergic to them. Oh and did I say we have allot of venomous snakes. Yep, the south east isn't for the faint of heart.

Thanks for sharing. I love to hear about how y'all do things together and he wants to help make things easier. The hose trick is simple but genius. The drift is gorgeous! I love Coleus but don't have much shade. I have a few nubs trying to sprout from a pot of them I once had. Other than that, it's 103 right now with 41 percent humidity. Ugh. Forecasters say that it makes the index 113. I'm in North TX. My cousin in San Angelo has been getting it even more. They've been breaking records with 110 temp and that's without the index. It feels like we're roasting in the pot with the garden, lol. Last year I had sun-dried tomatoes on the vine. I got shade cloth up on my tomatoes just in time for this week. Temp numbers for the week are 104, 106, 108 without the humidity. My family has been in TX for centuries, we're used to it, but then, unless you're floating the river or have a pool, not worth going out there. We're just praying the grid holds up.

Saw HIGHLIGHTS on Sunday and loved hearing the pond project is scheduled for July. How about replacing the swing with a four post arbor swing overlooking the pond? You could plant up the posts with vining plants and the swing could hide behind the foliage and allow you to meditate and stare at the pond in privacy. If you have the space, you could make the swing a daybed set up for napping 😴 💤 and do some slat sunshades (verticals beams) over the arbor. Just a thought.

Hi Laura and Aaron! The coleus and begonias look really pretty and the weeding made a huge difference. It was fun seeing Samantha Grace in her pretty little dress and Benjamin helping with the Gator. Thank you so much for sharing!

Getting rid of the seed heads will help with keeping weeds under control. Here in the southern United States, we retreat indoors during midday heat.

Michigan humidity is unreal! My daughter and I watch your videos and wonder how you can work in long sleeve blouses, then we say In unison she has very low humidity, that must be so nice!

My new Power Planter ROCKS! Kudos to them for coming out with the Laura edition! I've been watching you use those augers for several months now, and the lighter weight one got m,e to pull the trigger and order one. I went out this morning and used it in an area with damp ground but plenty of weeds, only had to push the setting to 5. Total game-changer. The 3" auger made holes for plugs, 4" pots, gallon pots, even a 3 gallon tree! The bigger expense was getting the right drill to power it -- to save anybody else the trouble of looking it up, that's the DeWalt 20 volt MAX hammer drill, currently on sale from Amazon in a combo kit with their impact driver, 2 batteries, charger, and bag for $299. Huge shout out to Laura and Power Planter!!!
