Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington during the second season of Bridgerton, episode 8. In episode 8, Colin explains to Penelope the fraudulent plans of Lord Featherington. #polin
I love how they change the frame to him and Penelope when he says “how dare you take advantage of these ladies without a father or a HUSBAND (cue to the frame when they are both together) to protect them?” Foreshadowing Polin! & I’m all into it 💙💛🐝
He may have said “these ladies” but we all know he only meant Penelope!!! Otherwise he would have confronted the man publicly instead of pulling Penelope aside
How did Portia miss this opportunity to make a big scandal of finding her daughter unchaperonned with a man, and a Bridgerton nonetheless?! She must really want to keep her daughter unmarried to make her a slave when she'll be old 😅😅😅
In the show it makes sense. A. Colin’s family is wrapped up in a scandal because of season 2 events. And then B. She’s trying to avoid bringing more attention to what the new Lord Featherington is doing.
I think it's cause she's always looking down on Penelope. It's obvious she's different from the rest of her family. Portia holds no hope over her, so seeing pen with Colin she cannot even fathom him being interested in Pen, or any man for that matter. That's why she's quickly able to figure out that he wasn't here as a caller but rather to see Jack for business
I love how he used Cressida and Pen thinking that he is flirting with her when the reality is that he defended her and her family, it's Cressida's karma for treating Pen badly I love Polin so much and I can't wait for s3.
Cressida has been getting karma since season 1. She lost a potential marriage to a Prince. She lost a potential marriage to the new Lord Featherington. She’ll probably lose a potential marriage to someone else in season 3 too. Probably for being cruel and vile.
It speaks a great deal about Colin's fondness and closeness for Pen to just blatantly grab hert hand where everyone can see. Sure, anyone who knows both of them would just explain it away as a gesture of concerned friendship. But lets be real here, Mr. Bridgeton. You are BEYOND blind to your feelings, sir! Like..come oooonn😂❤❤
the way he looks at Pen during the dance. Its almost as if he's apologizing for dancing with Cressida (who we have seen being unkind to Penelope once in se1). I love that looks even more than when he returns from his travels and sees (his) Pen 😂😂 But yes!! howbhe holds her hand, wants to protect her and her family!!! Loved this.
The heartbreaking part of all this is when Penelope sees her mom was trying to con Colin AGAIN after the Marina of it all in season 1. It’s no wonder she’s trying so hard to get away.😔
I feel bad for Pen for multiple reasons here the first is that she has no idea what Colin plans when he takes her to a room and closes the door The second when Colin reveals what Jack is up to, because Pen genuinely likes her cousin and thought he was a good guy, unaware what him and her mother where planning. The third is when Jack and Portia burst into the room to find them (maybe they wanted to use the room themselves 🥴) and Portia just looks at Pen like what are you doing after Pen and Colin discretely move away from each other. Finally when Colin says without a father or husband to protect them, and Pen is just stunned she doesn’t know what to think
@@Floyzl I hope that happen that because in the books she doesn't have suitors. So I hope that it will be different in the serie. I need so bad Colin jealous.
I love how he had a little plan dance with Cressida make her think in her stupid mind that he's flirting with her take her necklace and take penelope somewhere private then show her as proof that the necklace is fake and confront her cousin Jack and then seeing how upset penelope was seeing him dance with Cressida he stright away took her on the floor for a dance and told her that she is special to him
What is with these cousins always being scheming backstabbers? First, Marina betrays Penelope by trapping the man she loves into a sham marriage for her own selfish desires when she could’ve chosen anyone else(She had many suitors beforehand who attempted to court her). Second, cousin Jack scams just about the entire ton, saying that there are more rubies in America. And he was one of the only people in the family who Pen genuinely liked. I can see why Penelope is Lady Whistledown now: Her family is horrible to her.
Portia, at first, she was like, Leave the Bridgerton's out of it, then once the story got out about Eloise, she was like, "Get Colin involved." She knew they were already facing shame of the ton because of Anthony's faiIed wedding and Eloise. Like she didn't care if they also suffered if the truth about the fake rubies came out. As long as she had money to cover up her dead husband's failures.I know she's a mother trying to find a way to not only avoid another scandal but also get by on enough until her daughters to marry, I still didn't think it was right.
What I find interesting in this scene is the fireplace. There has been a theme of wild professions of love between our brigertons and their counterpart whilst together alone in a room a fireplace burns. I believe it signifies the flame of love. Such as the Duke and Daphne sharing how they mutually burn for one another.in the next season Kate describes her feelings of vexation for Anthony which he too in turn shares. Then they are interrupted unlike our earlier couple who were sharing their wedding night. Now these in this scene here with Colin and Penelope they are interrupted entirely before anything of true substantial feeling can be exclaimed. I am curious to see if in part two Colin and Penelope find themselves once again in a room alone together with a fire burning between them. Other perhaps things end with the interruption and the fireplace baton gets passed to the next Bridgerton to be in a rather wedding bouquet like fashion. Also interesting to note that when he does say husband the fire is framed between the two of them.
Like their father who I hope we get a prequel to their parents love story was a honorable gentlemen who taught his sons how to address such things in private and to protect the ones they care about if not love. He only did this because he loved Pen and was warned about the possibility or him and money others with money losing out.
I’m sorry but this is so sad. When he took her hand you can see she expected a dance or at least a romantic conversation and all she gets is serious family shenanigans… He sees her as the brain and it’s very rightfully so, but it’s still saddens me that he doesn’t see past through it
Well he did in private to protect pen. And he has at least friendly feelings for her (smiling when he sees her, dancing, their conversations and he holds her opinion in high regard) he is oblivious lol
