The most underrated Doctor, played by he second best actor reading a script from the most underrated episode and the greatest Doctor. I love this video so much.
Okay, this is silly but I'm crying. Just the legacy of all these Doctors, and the fluidity of these big speeches. No matter which Doctor's mouth they come out of, they sound.. right. Idk
The same, yet different. At his heart the Doctor is the same moral character, no matter his face. What I love about this reading, with the sixth Doctor spin is that when that inner morality and passion is released, the sixth doctor spits out as a scathing browbeating!
I really wish they wouldn't have botched his stories and outfit so badly. Him as this type of Doctor in a black velvet suit would have made him a fucking favourite, hands down. He carried his era entirely on his own acting and nothing else.
As I understand it, they were deliberately trying to scupper the show. It's such a shame, because Baker is such a brilliant talent. Thank god for Big Finish.
I agree Colin Baker is way way underrated. He is in my top five favorite doctors and its truly a shame nah! a crime that he did not get more time on the show. The producers at the time messed up bad and deserve to watch reality tv forever. However I disagree about the outfit I would love to rock that suit.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. There has never been a bad actor to play the Doctor. Colin Baker is severely underrated, and I am so thankful to Big Finish for giving him a fair chance.
I really respect and enjoy the work of all of the actors who have played the Doctor, I wish there was some way to have these greats back for a few even just a few moments in a current day script :-/
Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor is my favorite... *my* Doctor... and he always has been. :) (Mind you, some people used to question my sanity when they learned that fun fact... lol)
@@harmonicajay91 Grade is an arsehole a;ways has been always will be if you shot him and he regenerated he would just regenerate as an arsehole. He's lived on his Uncles (Sir Lew) Rep for years even tries to impersonate him.
we were robbed of a great Doctor by the BBC and Michael Grade. I urge you to listen to his Doctors continuing adventures on the Big Finish Audio Dramas. I've met Colin and he really was a nice genuine man
Colin Baker brings such a great performance with this speech. I do like Matt Smith best, but I can easily imagine the Sixth Doctor in this scene shouting at Akhaten, defying a superior force in it's face. Also, Colin Baker, if you're reading this, I admire your taste in Doctors.
what most fans don't understand is that the way the Doctor is written has never changed it is a formula that has been set since Hartnells last season of his Era annd continued on from Troughtons first ( why don't people request the Modern Doctors ( and some of the Classics) to do Hartnell Troughton Pertwee and even Baker speeches? They do exist its just that they don't have a million quids worth of FX and soundtrack all over them. RTD And Moffat have stated that the Doctor has always been written the same way so if any doctor was to read the lines no matter who it was playing him or her now it would be the Doctor. The proof of that is here. The only problem with the modern Series at present is that Chibnall has avoided doing this even though it's in the writing guidelines if he doesn't get his head out of his arse soon he will kill the show!
It says something about how awesome Eleven's speeches are that they are getting the previous Doctors like McCoy and Baker here to do them to see if they can top him.
the Doctor has been written exactly the same since Hartnells last Season and continued with Troughtons they all have these speeches but I suppose the difference is loud dramatic Hollywood style music and FX but The Doctor is usually written to formula so any actor picked to play the part will be the Doctor ( which is more than proven here) a lot of TV shows have a formula for characters especially leading ones this is why really the Doctor never develops as a character and in recent years there has been more attention paid to the companions because there has to be development of character for something to continue. All you really need to play the Doctor is a good actor to read the lines but Capaldi should be able to read William Hartnells speech to Susan when he leaves her or Tom Bakers Homosapiens Speech and it will be the Doctor that you hear not the actor that is how good they are and that is why the Formula works. RTD and Moffat have both stated this often
Aha thanks, but I meant his speech to Amelia when he's rewinding in The Big Bang, not The Pandorica Opens. Great delivery from Sylvester McCoy though :)
I know how you feel. Part of the reason I'm not a huge fan of the Tenth Doctor anymore is because his fans will bring him up whenever and wherever they can just so they can criticize other Doctors, especially Matt Smith.
"In all my travellings throughout the universe, I have battled against evil! Against power-mad conspirators! I should have stayed here! The oldest civilization: decadent, degenerate, and rotten to the core! Ha! Power-mad conspirators! Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen! They're still in the nursery compared to us! Ten million years of absolute power! That's what it takes to be really corrupt!"
because they were trying to kill the show a Doctor needs time to develop he is that Kind Doctor on the Big Finish audios his is the best Doctor on them
I've got to laugh at people who run intricate comparisons, especially those who try to 'defend' Matt Smith as if he's under fire or something. This is a man reading a script at a convention. He's not 'acting', so stop with the nonsensical "Matt's was better" drivel when you're comparing a reading to a televised, scripted scene acted out with extra-takes, editing and all the bells and whistles used to 'get it right'. Appreciate it for what it is - a method for conventions to blend the old with the new and appease both fans, not a "Hurr hurr X did it better than Y, coz dey mah fave Ducktor".
"Colin: ... now which Doctor was that? Crowd: 11!!! Colin:Oh Matt! I like Matt! Audience Member: You don't like 10?" UGH!!! Typical Tennant fan, this isn't even about him and you're still bringing him up.
Really can't agree with the most overrated Doctor at all. I prefer Smith to Tennant, myself. I like Tennant a lot, but I just really love the spin that Smith put on him. *Especially* in times like this speech.
look man all i'm saying is that the speech to him was made far less emotional, and the entire point of the speech was to be emotional. Whether it was his acting or the writing the sixth doctor just, wasn't that good. And JasonJD48, it isn't fake hate for the sixth doctor
Tennat was not the best, but was great. Smith however is shit. His episodes are good because of the supporting cast, plot, story, and writers.. But frankly put, BBC killing Smith is the single best thing I could ever ask for for Christmas.
I'm not a fan of Smith but calling him shit was a bit much as for his supporting cast Rory oh dear I'm dead again this week Amy oh dear I'm crying over Rory being dead again this week and River Song the most annoying character since -- well Rory and Amy. When Smith began I thought he was too young to play the Doctor and I really don't like the whole pretty boy Doctor thing any way but by his final episodes he'd won me over. I liked him nt as much as Eccleston or Tennant but I liked him
