Pittsburgh Comic-Con 9/27/2014 Paul McGann (8th Doctor) reads Memories of the Doctor, from Rings of Akhaten. (Doctor Who) originally performed by Matt Smith
Spoilers unfortunately it's not him. Before John Hurt died I really wanted a series about the 8th and The Warrior not together but alternating every episode. Still think it would be great for him to truly get his time shine at The Doctor.
Hehehe yeah I Looked it up on line to make sure he hadn't done it before (at least that had been caught on the web) if he had I was going to throw the opening of "Listen" at him
I'm mad that we didn't get to really see him in action as the doctor I know he did a movie and a mini episode, but I wish he had a season or something.
Yes, he was criminally underutilized. Nothing against Christopher Eccleston, but if it was up to me in 2005 I would've brought him back for Series 1, and then brought him back again after Whittaker instead of Tennant.
I think McGann is the bridge between Classic and New Who. Too bad he didn’t get a series. Love his big finish stuff, made him my favorite. Hopefully he gets a spin-off show, since Russell’s back and has always wanted a good spin-off.
One of my favourite Who speeches...and Matt Smith took my breath away in that scene. He was absolutely brilliant. I loved watching Paul McGann perform it here. In fact I love all the clips I've seen of past Doctors performing speeches from recent episodes, like this one and the Pandorica speech.
Given Eight's adventures in the Divergent universe, some of this fits him really well, especially "I walked in universes where the laws of physics were devised by the mind of a madman"...
I'd love to see the classic Doctors attempt some of Tennant's speeches and probably Chris's speech in Bad Wolf at the end where he confronts the Daleks and tells them he's going to get Rose back no matter what it takes
That just cements to me something that, if you've seen any "Day Of The Doctor" videos with me commenting, I would've said with the subtlety of a 6 year old caffene addict with ADD but...he should've been The War Doctor!
if he had time to prepare for this speech...I think it would be better than matt smith...he could of been one of the best tv doctors (CHECK OUT HIS AUDIO DOCTOR WHO ADVENTURES!!)
A good chunk of this speech is about his doctors adventures in the Big Finnish stories, mostly to me it seems "universes where the rules of physics" is the Zagreus arc .
GoldBlaze, Yeah I would totally love to hear 9 read it, sadly that will probably never be, unless he does a Tom Baker, and eventually does come back to the role. But Ecc, doesn't seem like the kind to do that.
I agree. Tom and Christopher has not done any of the speeches and mostly likely will not. I'm wondering if anyone would ask Matt to recite his own speeches at conventions. That would be interesting to see. Just a thought.
Einez Crespo Actually i would love for Matt to try his hands at some of the speeches from Big Finish that the 6th og 7th Doctor made. Since all the classic doctors have done new who speeches perhaps it would be time for some of the new doctors to do some a few classic Doctor Who speeches. Personally i think it would be awesome if Matt could do his version of the first doctor´s one day i shall come back speech.
+TheSolarminiteBomb Christopher Eccleston really really loves playing villains, its why he didnt have fun playing The Doctor and probably why he won't reprise the role for a good long time.
Lord Christoff I've actually already done that for you, combined "The Long Song" (Wake up) With Paul's reading, check my channel feed.... your welcome lol
sure the fans didn't love Rings of Akhaten. But i did. And i love Luther. Neil Cross the writer of both would have been an excellent Who showrunner. Certainly better than Chibnall, writer (in my opinion) of the worst post 2005 doctor who episodes ever. I liked a total of 2 episodes this season. Maybe 3 at most if you include the recent new years special. Jodie is great, but her scripts are fucking awful. I blame Chibnall for the fact that her character is still undefined as anything other than "fun" or "kind". By the end of Series 5 you knew exactly who the eleventh doctor was. Hell you know who ten was by the end of his first episode. Jodie is forced to just be a mish-mash of previous doctors with no real identity of her own. I love her as an actor. And i look forward to more. A shame Chibnall had no fucking idea what he wants to do with the show and thus had postponed the next series till 2020. If you don't have any idea what to do with the show do the respectable/moral thing. Refuse the job and suggest someone who could actually do it justice. Maybe Paul Cornell, Neil Cross or hell, someone like Tony Jordan, creator of Hustle. (a brilliant stylish show. Someone like Jordan could have been perfect) Honestly, the reason the Beeb chose Moffat to takeover after Davies is because Moffat wrote frankly the best episodes of Davies' era. Chibnall wrote the WORST episodes of both Davies AND Moffats era.) The decision to choose him to take over is frankly laughable to me. Its like the BBC WANT Doctor Who to die again.
