To put Washington as a playoff team, and above a team that won 12 games last year with the MVP runner up and made virtually 0 roster changes, it really does feel like he just picked a random team to get excited about lol. Defense is bottom 3, O-Line is bottom 3, and gave up the most sacks in the NFL last year, and their new rookie QB is an undersized dual threat qb, it’s begging to get him hurt. McLaurin is great, and Robinson is a very serviceable RB, but that’s not enough to carry a bottom 3 overall roster in the NFL.

As a Commanders fan I love Cowherd's take. I am more optimistic about the Commanders roster than Mitch. Do I think they will finish 2nd in the NFC East? I would say the odds are against it, but the NFL is unpredictable. In terms of the roster: QB: I am hopeful about Jayden Daniels but all fanbases are hopeful about rookie QB's at this point of the year. If Daniels is good as a rookie that really increases the margin of error in other departments for the team (maybe you can survive having an O-Line that is say in the mid-to late 20's in terms of productive. RB: I see this group as mid much like Mitch. Brian Robinson was productive with the carries he got, but the Commanders just didn't run much last year (lowest running attempts in the NFL). Ekeler is a decent third down option. This group won't hold back an offense, but they won't elevate. WR's: McLaurin is a borderline top 10 WR. Hes in that difficult to evaluate category because he hasn't played in a productive offense, the QB's who have thrown him the ball are Case Keenum, Dwayne Haskins, Taylor Heincke, Carson Wentz, and Sam Howell. Despite that McLaurin has put together 4 straight 1000 yard seasons. Dotson looked relatively good as a rookie then had a disappointing year 2. I am still hopeful. We will see about the depth. TE's: Zach Ertz is a crafty route runner who can get open against zone, but is not much of an athlete at this point and is a weak blocker. Ben Sinnott could develop into a decent versatile player in a couple years, but as a rookie, I think he'll have a steep learning curve. O-Line: The Washington fanbase hated this O-Line and the raw stats said this O-Line sucked, but there were advanced metrics and also PFF grading which said this O-Line which said the O-Line was just a little bit below average (like in the 20-23 range last year). Things looked worse than they actually were because Sam Howell lacked Pocket awareness and took a lot of sacks and Bieniemy's playcalling did a poor job at protecting the O-Line. Bringing in Biadscz probably upgrades the interior of the O-Line, but losing Charles Leno may have downgraded the tackles. If Washington is going to succeed they need this O-Line to say be the 20th best. D-Line: On the edge Washington has a much of mid to low level 2's. Guy who are okay as the number 2 DE on a team, but are not even high levels two. On the interior, I think Washington has two of the top 15 or so DT's (64 starting DT's). Jonathan Allen battled plantar facitis in his foot all last year so they need him to have healed up and be his best self because the Allen from last year was not the same as he was in the previous years. Johnny Newton improves the depth. LB: Its a good group. Bobby Wagner is still a great run defender leading the NFL in tackles last year (third time in career he lead league in tackles) and finishing with an elite 91.5 run defense grade from PFF, but just serviceable in pass coverage (60 coverage grade). Luvu is another good run defender and is a great blitzing LB, but is probably just average in coverage. Jamin Davis is average run defender who is also average in pass coverage, but has the opposite pass coverage strengths and weakenesses of Wagner and to some extent Luvu as Davis is 6'3 with decent length, solid agility and ran a 4.47 at the combine so he is a solid man coverage guy against TE's and rb's but is lost in zone, whereas Wagner understands zone, but lacks the athleticism in man coverage, and Luvu is average in both but strong in neither. CB's: Lots of unknowns. Emmanuel Forbes is the biggest variable. He had a rough rookie year. Lots of corners have rough rookie years. Benjamin regressed last year after a promising second year in the NFL. Going into last year people talked about Mike Davis of the Chargers as an underrated player. He was the lengthy press man corner who had a 73 PFF grade the previous season as the Chargers starter. That regressed to a 56 PFF last year. Now nobody is talking about him as underrated, but its corner when variance is heavier so that is not that surprising of a result. Mike Sansitril should be the starting slot corner. He was a terrific college player, the best slot corner in the college football, but he lacks the elite physical traits at 5'9 187 pounds and 4.5 speed. Can his game translate from college to the NFL with the physical tools? Safety: The Commanders have at least three nice pieces at safety in my opinion. Quan Martin had a solid enough rookie year playing 365 snaps and finishing with a 65.4 PFF grade. However, I think he is the player most likely to break out. He was the only player Dan Quinn named when asked by reporters which player impressed him during OTA's and mini-camp. I think he will be a Kam Curl level player. Maybe not as good against the run as Kam Curl, but more dynamic in coverage. Derrick Forrest got hurt last year and missed half the year and was mediocre when in there with a 61 PFF grade, but had a solid 68 PFF grade and 4 interceptions the previous year as the starter. I think last year was on the lower end of his variance. I think Jeremy Chinn can be a good big box safety. Carolina used him as a post safety the past couple years and he is meh in that role. But when used near the line of scrimmage he is a solid player. Washington had another safety who was similar in Landon Collins. Collins was great with the NY Giants and then the Commanders signed him in 2019 to a big deal and changed his role from a near the LOS safety to one who had to player deep. And he was below average. Midway through his third and final year in Washington (2021) they changed his role to hybrid safety linebacker and let him play near the LOS and he was so much better.

When the Browns win the AFC North I will be asking for an apology for the disrespectful take, Somehow a playoff team is going to just get worse by getting it's starters back?! QB, RB, LT, RT x2, FS. Basically it's saying these starters coming back are going to somehow drag the team down. Year 2 of Schwartz's defense where you learn to protect your weaknesses and add wrinkles to your game. Like him or not Deshaun Watson last season went 5 - 1 in games he started and he went on a tear in Baltimore and ripped up their defense with a broken throwing shoulder but somehow him being healthy now is worse/unpredictable! I just feel like the media loves kicking around the Browns because for years they definitely had reasons too I'm realistic and we used to be BAD! But that's no longer the case here I see this team in depth, I watch everything they put out on the Browns and for someone to think the Bengals are hungry the same Bengals that haven't beaten the Browns in a meaningful game in years only when we pulled players did they get a win! Somehow they're hungry and this Browns team that keeps hearing you haven't won the division since 1989 isn't hungry?! The players hearing everyone putting them last which btw please keep that up it's good for driving these guys to silence all of you. I'm done ranting, All that's left is to get this season started already so Browns fans and players can quit getting kicked around everywhere in the media. Let's get it going, I can't wait!

Raiders have the best if not the second defense in the west. The second best wide receiver core in the west. AOC4 had 8tds and 0int in his last 4 games. The chargers have an injury prone roster but they have a cake walk schedule. Raiders will easily be 2nd in the west.

Bengals over Ravens is ludicrous. If Lamar is healthy the entire year, Burrow has no chance to supplant him as the best qb in the division.

I also think the raiders are a bit underrated, wouldn’t be shocked if raiders were second place in the division. Minshew is decent, good defense, can run the ball, good rookie TE, they can make some noise, maybe not playoffs but ok team

I personally think u are underestimating how good the ravens are. Yeah they lost a few players but not only are the ravens keeping all their key contributors, but they are also filling the missing pieces. Nate Wiggins replaces Ronald Darby, Trenton Simpson replaces Patrick queen, and Eddie Jackson replaces geno stone. Plus getting King Henry on offense is a huge upgrade. The ravens will dominate the run game again despite a questionable offensive line. Plus in the past, the ravens have been pretty successful at replacing an older offensive line with more young players.

As a commanders fan I can admit Colin had a hot take on the team, but saying they have the worst roster in the league is completely out of touch, the starting 11 on defense got so much better from last year, especially the linebackers and we are getting Derrick Forrest back who is a very under rated safety, offense undoubtedly got better, really don’t see how the receivers are over rated considering how little they are discussed even tho terry is coming off 4 straight 1000+ yard seasons with some of the worst qb play in the league, feel like you need to educate yourself a bit on this one

My man, the Steelers went 5-1 in the division last year with Pickett, Rudolph, and Trubisky at QB, and the team wasn’t nearly as good as it is now. Everybody got better, but Derrick Henry is average now. Burrow can’t even stay on the field, and Russ is still the most clutch QB in football. There isn’t a QB I trust more in the 4th quarter or OT, and he showed that he could still be trusted to come through in crucial situations even last year. What must be corrected are his quarter 1-3 performances. He needs a system that puts him into a consistent rhythm, just like any other QB. Steelers Ravens Bengals Browns

Normally agree with your takes Mitch, but Saleh's defense hasn't been the problem there. He almost seems like a coach hamstrung and caught off guard by decisions he has little to no say so in, like Reich last year. Macdonald's defensive scheme also seems to have good success against Shanahan based systems. That division is going to be interesting to watch.

Last 10 years I think it's been almost every year that 4 different division winners. Either 2 from each conference or 3 from 1 n just 1 from the other.

Bengals aren’t only going to win their division they will be the number 1 seed. Baltimore is going to regress big time this year. Let’s just go through what they have lost. They lost 3 starting offensive linemen 1 of them a Pro Bowler, they lost their RB1 and RB2 and replaced them with a 31 year old RB, they lost OBJ, they lost Clowney their top edge rusher, they lost an All Pro MLB in Patrick Queen, they lost a safety who pulled in 7 interceptions last year, and most importantly they lost their Defensive Coordinator who presided over the number 1 defense last year. I would be really surprised if the Ravens have a top 15 defense this year. And the Ravens are replacing 3 starting offensive linemen 1 of them a Pro Bowl player with rookies lol. They didn’t replace Queen they didn’t replace Clowney they didn’t replace Geno Stone with anyone and they didn’t replace OBJ with anyone. The Bengals upgraded big time at Right tackle, they upgraded big time at TE, they upgraded big time at safety, they upgraded at WR I would argue be sue Jermaine Burton is going to be better than Tyler Boyd. He is faster more explosive. And the Bengals downgraded a bit at DT by losing Reader but we replaced him with Sheldon Rankins, a 2nd round draft pick, and a 3rd round draft pick.

Jake Browning is the best backup QB in the NFL Colin. Jake Browning yes Jake Browing. In 2017 Jake Brownjng at the University of Washington threw 43 tds to 8 interceptions. Jake Browning holds the NATIONAL HIgh School record for TD passes in a season and career tds in HS and career yards in HS. And he went to a large 5A Hs in California not some C school in West Virginia. Yes that Jake Browning. Jake Briwning would be an upgrade at QB for the Giants, for the Vikings, for the Cammanders, for the Seahawks, for the Patriots, for the Panthers, for the Titans, the Broncos, and the Raiders.

Faiders DON’T have a great OL and won’t. They have trash QBs, a solid D front and an iffy secondary. Broncos were competitive and are more balanced but are rebuilding. They share the West cellar. The Chargers lost 8 one score games, seven of them three point games. That changes under Harbaugh win half of those. Coaching from top to bottom has been completely upgraded and your evaluation of the defense except safety is backwards. Chargers go 10-7 against an “easy” schedule, sneak in and MAYBE win a first round.

So do you really think the Bengals let their RB1 walk just to save 5 million dollar for 1 year??😂. Hell no we traded Mixon because he isn’t explosive anymore and he has NEVER been able to pass protect. He cannot be a pass protector. He is still great at catching the ball he doesn’t drop passes and he still has some speed. But watch Mixons tape from 2018 and 2019 and even 2021 and then watch it from 2022 and 2023 and you will see what I mean. The explosion is gone. The burst is not there. Mixon is still a dam good RB but he has always been a liability pass protecting and the Bengals right now in their evolution value pass protection and explosive runs more than anything else. We have a slue of people who can catch the ball. We have a second year RB Chase Brown who is perhaps the most explosive RB in football. See a game late last year where Chase Brown catches a screen pass from Jake Browning and then runs 52 yards for a TD outrunning the entire secondary from the opposing team and on that run next Gen Stats had him clocked at 22.05 mph which was and is the 2nd fastest of any ball carrier all season. DK Metcalf was the fastest.

As a Texans fan, respectfully, JAGS OVER COLTS?!? How exactly? The colts were a dropped pass from the playoffs with F-ing Gardner Minshew, Anthony Richardson makes them a significantly better team on skill set alone. Did no one see how the Jags Imploded after taking a game from the Texans by a fucking inch with multiple favorable calls bailing them out. The Texans straight do not lose that game if not for a fluke injury to their kicker, after they previously bitched the Jaguars in week 3. The AFC West is one of the weakest divisions in football. Good if you are a Chiefs fan. I don’t think Jim Harbaugh will be successful. His style of coaching and his style of play are antiquated big time. He believe is running the football running the football! That’s fine if you are the 49ers and have the best RB and the best FB and the best TE in the game. The rest of the league has evolved into a passing league. Jim Harbaugh missed that at Michigan where he got lucky and won a national championship last year. I believe that the Chargers will be lucky if they win 7 games this year.
