Notice these “journalists” are too timid to throw actual data at him. Like the number of black men killed by cops being a tiny fraction of the number of blacks killed by other blacks.
You will notice that white liberals quoting a small part of this interview in order to show his protest wasn’t anti-America will NEVER quote from same interview where he says Hillary broke the law and anyone else would be in jail yet she’s running for President.
@@Nflguy4949 also isn't it funny how the media is willing to photoshop Hitler to look like Trump and call right-wing people racist. Yet they wish to abolish the police and create their own? It sounds like the SS to me. you want to know what else the SS did? They humiliated the people they are "oppressed" by aka white people in public. They made jews kneel down and kiss their boots. While it isn't as bad in America it is getting there. African American people don't have the power to ask white people to kneel and apologize for being white.
The NFL is a WORKPLACE. He was free to do what he wanted to do OUTSIDE of the workplace...something he still doesn't understand to this very day is the fact that playing in the NFL is a PRIVILEGE.
@@RemmyRiffs Yeah that is true. This is what people do not understand, the NFL or the organizations apart of the NFL has no obligation to keep him on their team, even if they agree with his message completely or partially. These teams are trying to win a Super Bowl year in and year out and having a three ring circus of media attention and distractions is something that many teams (especially the winning teams) do not want. What the crazy part is, if Tom Brady said this what would the reaction be? Is it because he is white? Or is it because he is one of the GOATs.
He dude be aware of this whatever you do... Bow, stand, or kneel kneell....kneel? That is what you chose... Okay. knell....knell! KNEEL FOR USE.. BOY. And yeah by your action I do mean .... BOY!
Delphic Tableau last time a checked a football field was for football and not politics. Kaep can speak about that on his own time but what he did unexceptionable he shouldn’t be In the league. And when did I mention a Redskin QB
We elect a black president who hasn't changed what some people want changed so how is Colin going to change anything we live in a country with 300 million plus there is always going to be shit goin down
Your statement/ comment is accurate ... to me, Colin is a "public patriot" if anything, for standing up in his position to the injustices of this country, a country that actually disrespects what this country and our Constitution should stand for ... instead, a country of politically corporate controlled legislation and mass incarceration as well for corporate profiteering, and killing innocent citizens. - - Ranch Chimp Journal
He needs to grow the hell up! You make millions of dollars and you were given that freedom to get paid to PLAY A GAME!! These "people of color" being "targeted" by police are criminals who disrespect the law and don't listen to commands from an officer and get their asses shot for it! Stfu he can leave our country since he feels so disrespected! Bye bye!
@Eroz Ghost white folks use 2 wear the skin of blac folks as shoes. Shut yo bitch as up. We were taught violence and negativity. Our ancestors lived n harmony amongst themselves and yeah they battled like all siblings but they didnt cut children out the stomachs of children bcuz they felt like it
NM - 12OA - Port Credit SS (2272) if a protest doesn’t make you uncomfortable, it’s not doing it’s job. You’re intentionally missing the point. Nothing like this gets changed in a “respectful” way
@obey Amma it’s not that we don’t get it, it’s that he is still disrespecting the fallen troops that fought for his right to do that no matter if it was or was not his intentions.... he disrespected the troops that fight for us
This comment section is the dumbest thing I've ever read, someone is calling a veteran a brainwash old fag for defending his country? In what universe is that a bad thing if all these "brainwash old fags" decided to choose not to fight anymore for stupid teens like you what rights would you have left if we couldn't be able to defend our own country. Pay attention in school kid instead of just watching NFL all day.
Did anybody listen to what he said from 1:59-2:45. His protest isn't just for racial injustice, feeling opressed, police brutality etc. But it's for mistreatment of veterans too. Why isn't anybody talking about that??
What does stay in your lane, mean? Exactly how are you trying to control another person? And is it so simple for you that if one applauds the goals but questions the methodology one is a naysayer? Is nuance not possible?
Barring you conversing with me (which it seems you're not intending to do), I don't see how one day I'll find answers to those questions since they dealt with your comments specifically and what you as an individual meant by them. Which means that if you indeed don't want to converse with me, you are choosing to forgo an opportunity to increase understanding.
How can you NOT be behind this guy? He is standing up for equality, and standing up against police brutality. He has never once said he hates America or the flag. He is saying some things are not right, and he is correct. It baffles me the hate he gets. He's intelligent, balanced and well spoken, a real classy guy going about things in a calm, well thought way.
The Goat 'Cry baby prick'? He is complaining about black people getting unfairly treated by the police. You don't think that happens AT ALL? And if you do, do you think that's ok, and he shouldn't complain?
Streetwalkin Cheetah With A Heart Full Of Napalm LOL. What have I said that is prejudiced? You just sound like a child when you just repeat my accusation with "no, YOU are". What race he is, or who he was brought up by means nothing. You seem to just be suggesting that by being half white and being brought up by a white family he should be eternally grateful for that race and then deny his ancestry, and never stick up for issues that affect black people? Laughable. Anyone should stick up for the rights of certain groups if there are injustices, you don't have to be a member of that club. Again, what on earth has it got to do with anything if he has a muslim girlfriend? Nothing, unless again you are prejudiced. Also, what has it got to do with anything that his black father abandoned him? Unless you are prejudiced, saying all black fathers are like that, or that they deserve police brutality as a race because they abandon children. You are a Streetwalkin Rat With A Heart Full of Hatred.
Kapernick is very courageous. He sacrificed his career for the greater cause. Just like Muhammad Ali did and just like Tommy Smith and John Carlos did at the 1968 Olympics. He is indeed a courageous black man
@@GantzIsSloppy If he were a star when this happened, ppl wouldn't have cast such a suspicious eye on it. I think it rubbed ppl the wrong way because he was washed and wanted the spotlight back.

Awesome to read your support as a veteran who understands Colin’s action was never against the military. The flag is supposed to represent ALL Americans! 🇺🇸 Thank you for your years of service to our country!
83rdox why do you hate on a movement that stands for equality? It’s literally a protest against racism. Why is racism so controversial? Racism shouldn’t be controversial.
This is the most (and only?) informative video of Kaep that I've seen. I'm not sure why he's stayed so quiet since this 2016 interview. For example, there's the NY Times article from 2018, "The Deafening Silence of Colin Kaepernick". He had the platform (and still does), and I wish he would speak his mind and give others the chance to listen.
@Brent 21 how is that an excuse if your for the people why would you accept payment from the NFL to hush yourself . He literally can't speak out cause he got payed
@Mike Mitch just leave this moron alone man... you can't do nothing about this kind of sorry soul...if after this strong interview of twenty minutes you got the guts to say what he says... there is no hope for you... that is
History always vindicates the righteous in the end. 4 years ago, Kap sat down in PEACEFUL protest and upon hearing a former veteran voice his concern that his method was disrespectful, he later knelt instead to be “more respectful” AND STILL his critics burned his jerseys, walked out of his games and demanded his removal. All because of a PEACEFUL PROTEST. The same people who constantly badger on about their first and second amendment rights, made sure to stifle his. And now look at you, a country on the cusp of complete destruction. Chaos. Anarchy. Mayhem. Enjoy x
So from what you are saying others who don’t agree with Kaps stance don’t have a right to disagree with him in protest? Also this guy literally just compared playing in the NFL & making millions to slavery. Sorry this guy has lost touch with reality…. I agree with him on things like police brutality but other than that smh, especially when he’s getting paid millions by a company like Nike who actually uses slave labor to make they’re products.
I use to disagree with the whole thing, but I only surrounded myself with people who shared the same views. I’m glad that I looked this video up to see where he was coming from, and now my thoughts are that this message was delivered without him hurting anyone, or falsely accusing or generalizing any group of people, not that you need it, but Kaepernick, you certainly have my respect
@@squareguy6443 Right on Danny! See this is what it’s all about! America needs to realize that people can agree or disagree and still show respect for the other side! Thanx for the reply man!
I cant believe that there have been so many reporters over the last two years who say that they want to hear him speak. He said all he needed to in this video.
I remember when a lot of black broadcasters used to down Colin Kaepernick now I think they feel stupid thank you Colin Kaepernick for standing up for us
How come ? He did this shit at work , where you get paid to do your job. Protest and fighting for equality is a good thing, but if you are employed . Your boss can decide if they allow politics to be in the work place or not!
Just watched Colin in black and white and later found this interview .... at 6:57 he basically tells us his "plan" to continue his activism ..wow it's pretty amazing , a true fighter for what he believes in.. and is still doing it... for im glad 5 years later he was finally able to speak his truth, and to not just the 1,000,000 people here but to now some of the entire world.
I watch it too till this day it’s still happening I played football for my school and it have been a lot of kids dads coach for the team they put they kids in spot where the light at I played quarterback the coach son plays quarterback no matter how hard I try to fight for that spot but i never got it my senior year I played my best at quarterback I never played my senior yeah I never got the chance to show my talent or skill now I work and trying to get in to a college because of that it have ruined my life

not hearing it is no longer an option.... humans are so unaware of how we can be used when the universe is ready to produce change... when Colin says it was not planned I really do believe him because I had a moment I ended up speaking honestly about something I had not heard before and I was supposed to say something different.... evil people cannot be used in this way...they let that real hate...never the ones speaking out on hate... get in the way people will definitely be used to effect change....
How is he a real american by not standing up for our anthem? You must be missing large portions of your brain because there is no "truth" to what he said. Police brutality is extremely rare and oppression in the United States is a joke. Go over to a country with real oppression and then you can start talking. These liberals smh.
+Fad Fudge nice factual argument there my friend. Did you know that over a hundred unarmed black men are killed at the hands of police? but this isn't an issue? did you know that blacks serve longer and harsher sentences than whites for committing the same crimes? that's the issues were addressing. no one is blaming all white people. no one is blaming all cops. if you truly loved your country you would fix the issues it has and he did the right thing bringing awareness to the issue. and like every civil rights movement. change WILL happen. goodbye and have a nice day.
AJ lamar Police brutality is still extremely rare regardless. And by protesting and causing violence and not standing up for the national anthem is not the solution. Many blacks in the hood think that if they "stand up for themselves" by rejecting a police order is a good thing, ITS NOT. Thats why this extremely rare issue happens. Btw the people of the BLM movement do express hatred toward whites and cops, not all of them but there are some who do so.. Have a nice day
Im so mad that he was hated for doing this 4 years ago. He was way ahead of everyone fighting oppression in this country by PEACEFULLY protesting and now America is GTA in real life.
"Ali was at the time the Greatest. But when he spoke out, he went to jail, man. Like even his greatness couldn't insulate him from those rules that they'd set up. " "At the end of the day, when I decided I was going to start speaking up, and not giving a fuck about the backlash or if it effects me... my whole mindset well, it's not about me."
@DC you're commenting on yt. This man had a 4.0 GPA, full ride baseball scholarship, full ride football scholarship. 7 year vet and went to the super bowl. Then CHOSE to play a game higher than money. Lord help you with your vision.
EVERYTHING HE SAID ITS TRUE!!!!! Now they talking about it, it’s ashame George, Breonna, Aubrey, etc etc etc etc been killed behind everything he said😭😭😭😭😭
Lynn Lobliner: He explained his reason for doing it but he should have chosen another way to do it. Disrespecting the anthem and flag publicly in this manner is insulting to a lot of people because they see it as an abuse of free speech and expression. Many of those people insulted are football fans. Liberal often say that "hate speech" is not free speech and they expect all to live up to that standard. If it disagrees with their thinking, it is hate speech. Lovers of the anthem and flag see kneeling for the anthem and flag as disrespectful and hateful and they are offended. "Unfortunately a year later" this is what the NFL, managers, coaches, the players and you still don't get. They can protest their grievances off the field in another manner without giving the figurative finger to the anthem, flag and people who venerate those things. In other words, plain and simply, "RESPECT THE ANTHEM AND FLAG" and we will have more respect for them. "Hate" is not free speech as the liberals remind us when they are offended.
Because there is no reason, ever notice same old sorry tired reasons, blacks have same opportunities as whites, cry me a river, thankfully the public as a whole DOES NOT SUPPORT IT
but actions speak louder than words. colin should have kept his protests off the field. I understand his cause. the cops are a problem in this country. I don't agree with him protesting during the anthem and on company time. everyone has the right to protest but you have to deal with the consequenses of your protests.
@Van Damme but the field is not his platform. He is not the nfl owner, the team owner, the stadium owner or anything. He was an employee of the 49ers. The 49ers can tell him how to conduct himself when he is on company time and he was. He has the freedom to protest but he nfl also has the right to fire him
@Van Damme but he would still be in the nfl somewhere. Now he is begging for a spot on a team. No team will pick him up now. You cant sue your employer and get your job back
@Van Damme then he needs to accept the fact that he will no longer be on the nfl. He is putting it out there that he is in shape and ready to play. No one will sign him
Kap was right all along. People are just starting to watch this interview. This interview was 4 years ago ! What Kap is saying is What Malcom X was saying and Martin Luther King was saying. He is the New Age Malcom X & Martin Luther King .
@@CurtisDensmore1 I can see why what I said sounds like I am comparing Kap with X and MLK, but I am not. MLK definitely had something to say. However I think Kap in this interview had something to say as well.
I've never stood for the anthem and I'm white. I'm not standing for a song about war and theft. Y'all have more in common with that Kim Jung Korean dude than anyone else
Kaepernick wasn’t just talking about African American people about police brutality, he said that people of color are targeted by cops more, which I believe is true, and if it’s not racism, then it’s fear, but he did say people who are oppressed and people who are affected by police brutality. He’s doing this for you too.
It’s not that. I’m Hispanic and UNFORTUNATELY the majority of time we live in neighborhoods that are gang infested. Their is unfortunately a “profile” in these neighborhoods. They are either black, Hispanic. I don’t think cops wake up and hope “God thank you for today I’m going shake a Mexican or black down”
The most violent cities are predominately black. When 8% of the population commits 60% of the violent crime and homicides there is a certain race and age group doing this and to each other for decades.
@@yunglife1244 What by taking a poxy little knee? Oh yeah what a huge sacrifice that was. Meanwhile Pat Tillman gave up his career in the NFL and the millions he made to serve his country and he died for it. Colin didn’t have the balls to do that and yet he's praised as a hero? That doesn't fly whatsoever.
Colin Kaepernick took the right stance 4yrs ago. Today, in 2020, the USA should honor him for his stance. Colin showed bravery in realizing what his stance would cost him. He was prepared for it. Some people like money. Colin Kaepernick loved principal. He set a great example for us all.
There is no question he was meant to go through all this. God has been guiding him! Wish he plays again with a team that really sees his talent as a player. Had to listen to his words after all what's happened. Who is watching this in June 2020?
I feel bad for the successful black men in entertainment and sports, the political world telling them they should shut up and be great-full for what they been “allowed to have” speaking out will only make things complicated, one day these brothers would come together and teach black people how to live on less thereby being more.

It is sad to see how nerrow minded people are and how you still only thing about yourself. We live in 2018 people.. WAKE UP! WOW... a big hand for the land of the free and liberty.
*LOVE* Colin Kaepernick - have ever since I first saw the transcript of this interview - back in 2016! (pretty sure I never saw the actual footage until now?!)
By kneeling he showed your father disrespect an I know for sure your father would say that. You stand for the flag to show this country respect an for the people that has fallen in times of War. to fight for the right to be stupid like Colin Kaepernick.
I remember when this first happened quite sometime ago and I was much younger and surrounded by people who villianized him and only focused on him disrespecting America. I didn’t think my perspective on him would change but it did. I didn’t even know what he was kneeling for and now I do. Everything he said in this video was complete facts and very well thought out responses.
The statement about police having less training requirements than cosmetologists in California is sadly true. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/30/kaepernick-was-right-about-police-vs-cosmetology-training/ Just lost a friend who was attempting suicide and the cops were called to stop him and they shot him within less than a minute of arriving to the scene. The wife had called to get him help. Police came, started yelling at him, pointing their guns at him (he had no gun, but had a knife...cutting himself). He started walking towards them. They shot him 5 times. It all happened in less than one minute from the arrival of the officers. By the way, he was white. This issue is worse for people of color, but this is a UNIVERSAL issue we need to address. How can a cop make $243,000, be armed, and have only 6 months training?
I think he does otherwise how will his point gain exposure? Why do it in other words? Should he do it and remain silent about why? People don't understand and need to for anything to change.
i used to think it was disrespect but here he is explaining himself and i agree that police and brutality need reform and accountability for everyones sake. so i dont see him as disrespectful anymore, i see him standing up for everyone, not just his people.
I’m watching this now .. for the 1st time 3 years later .and I’m so blown away about how correct he was .. Sir I owe you a Apology . You open many eyes . To me personal you belong in a history book next to Rosa and MLK .
He should be given a lot more respect then he’s gotten for using his platform to bring awareness to social injustices that have affected the lives of black people everyday. He should be regarded as a hero for all the sacrifices he's made to make people more conscious to whats been happening in our society for centuries .Colin Kaepernick is a hero in my book as far as i'm concerned.
Agree completely. I also agree the police obviously target blacks far more than whites. But they kill white folks unjustly too and it gets no coverage because we are white... I think we all need to come together. These paid vacations after killing people need to 🛑.
@clyde8her you are lacking a level of comprehension. Go help the veterans who are now holding signs near freeway exits... The flag they served isn't helping them. Smh
I've asked a lot of people this question they don't have an answer or they say bad things about me exactly what has he accomplish in two years remember we had a two-term black president exactly what changed in that time
I am sorry but I might have watched another video, but in this particular video I did not see him articulate anything. I am still lost on what his argument is and what he wants to change.
I got kicked out school for good for this very reason 7yrs ago. 😔 if you don't stand for what you believe, you will fall for anything! He had my support way before now! 👏
I'm sure it was worth it, school isn't that important, right. it's the half black in him that is just starving for attention, screaming look at me. That's why he planned to do this on a televised game. He could have planned a rally in his neighborhood like the BLM people, oh wait, I'm sure he lives in a gated community full of rich white people. Black lives really do matter, so maybe it would be a great idea to make the best effort to improve their quality of life. Cops are using deadly force in situations that they deem dangerous, it's their JOB. To criminals, crime is their job, and whenever the situation rises, they call it police brutality. Criminals need to be responsible for their actions. In St.Louis, that big fat kid tried to wrestle the officers gun off of him, and had I been given the same situation, I would've done the same thing. That doesn't make it brutality, it makes it stupidity of the criminal.
+Eli Chandler if you not going to ask me why I don't stand for the national anthem, don't bother to say shit. For one my dad have went to war, I stand for theses ppl but I do not stand for the cause behind it. What are they protecting us from? Last time I check American citzens are at a war with each other. And it shows with your comment.
+Surfer Bri The way Colin doing it is to get the ones who ignores the things that is a problem. If ppl want to keep acting as if they don't see what's going on you have to put it dead in their face. I do agree with you on criminals using police brutally when they get caught doing some wrong. It makes it bad for ppl who actually do get brutalize by police
Andrea, I disagree with your reasoning. The facts to do not support what you are saying. You need to take a look at his social history. I think you might find a little change of attitude. Do you really think this lone star is doing it to help repressed communities? Think about this, The man makes over 11 million a year. He is bi-racial. His meaning behind the purpose of the flag is twisted. He fails history class 101. There is no war on segregation. This is a mindset coming from repressed areas. The norm of society doesn't believe everything the news tells the social masses. Walk into your local police office. I think you will find it will be filled with a diverse group of individuals. When you go to war, your one color. They call it green. Crime in the poverty-ridden communities are drug and gang related. Are you telling the majority you support criminals? This is what I am getting. Take the time and find out about some of these individuals lives you're downing. Not just the victims and the victim's families. Also, the courts and the police. Take the time to get to know your community. Not all communities fight. This is abnormal. The criminal behavior comes when people talk and fail to get involved in volunteering. Look at your local street. Who cleans up the trash and sweeps the street outside your home? It should be you and your neighbors and that is called pride. What this individual is supporting is his brand image, not communities. Otherwise, his 11 million would be donated to the very communities he is trying to support. I don't see this happening.
Kap was exactly right! He will go down as a legend, a hero because he was so fkkn brave. To put that amount of money on the line tells you a lot. I was with him before but now with what is going on now ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾!!!!

I now understand that this was not about disrespecting the flag, this was a peaceful protest to injustices to which I was ignorant. I now have a lot of respect for this man which I didn't have before. I encourage everyone to have an open heart to learn and empathize
It is disrespecting the flag which stands for the entire country, not just part of it. I’m not against equality, just disrespecting the country. This is like hating one room in a house and burning the whole house instead of dealing with the one room.
@@troyt6532 You don't need an analogy when you have real life to reflect on. He asked a veteran what he suggest he does in order to not disrespect the flag. How much more could he do? Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it disrespectful.
I respect the fact ppl are commenting that now they understand but the premise wasn’t that hard to understand i respect but I’m still dissapointed it’s sad it took people protesting violently to bring the awareness of the issue
When Fox News shows the vilified side of the story it’s hard for them. Trust me I watch fox. They never put this video on their program. I don’t think they put it on their program until he actually knelt and they had Jon Bauer on their program
2:02 For the ones saying Kaepernick is disrespecting the soldiers he is clearly saying he is not trying to disrespect our soldiers, in fact he clearly says that our soldiers are fighting for us to have liberty freedom and justice for EVERYONE and when you have blacks facing systematic oppression in the US, our soldiers are dying in vein.
@Bill Bill So you tell us to protest peacefully and when Kap does it you have a problem with it? We riot because of the same issue and you say "why can't you protest peacefully." Sounds like racism to me. You people would've hated MLK too
***** Why isn't he protesting about the 2300 people who were shot by blacks in Chicago this year? Are their lives less valuable? Or what about the fact that twice as many white people are shot by cops every year? Is it only an issue when black people are shot?
the rascal of life Exactly, 90% of the people who idolize Castro wouldn't even be able to answer basic questions about the man's life or what he actually stood for. That along with many other things was evidence that he's just jumping onto a bandwagon without objectively looking at the facts.
Of course theres twice as many white people being killed by the police because most of the U.S. population is white. Kaepernick has the right to sit down during the national anthem anyways. He is exercising his freedom of speech.
Yup, he's exercising his right to free speech by making a fool of himself. There are better uses of it... like criticizing this fool for his foolishness.

I’m a Trump supporter and I support standing for the anthem. At the same time, I give credit to this young man for bringing awareness. He is correct. Police brutality needs to stop against all races.
Came here right after I learned of the murder of George Floyd what a tragedy that a mans life was needs because some police officers are not qualified to protect and serve.
