Seeing Colin McRae in his Subaru Impreza STi, I said to my mates "one day I'm going to have one of those cars"... years later I managed to afford a 2005 WRX. Thank you Colin! RIP.
Colin inspired me to actually start driving. I remember when I was a kid around 6-7 years old and I played Colin McRae 2005 on the family computer. I also remember that I always wanted to watch Group B and McRae DVD's as a kid. Now I'm 15, my parents gave me a cheap little car to learn to drive in, for the 5 months that I've been driving, I changed my point of view of everything. I thought asphalt (track, hill climbs) were my thing, until I drove once on tarmac and gravel once. My ultimate dream is to become a rally driver, even a not very successful one, when I grow older. Everytime I see a meaneye Impreza I think of you. Thank you, Colin, you made my summer and opened a door for me, that I never thought would be opened. Next year I can legally compete in actual races and I cannot wait. Rest in Piece, Legend! 💔
How are you doing? Are you racing? I just saw this documentary and was going to write “good luck” to you racing and saw it’s 2 yrs old😂. Did you get to start racing?
11:56 -- The first SCOTTISH World Rally Champion was Crowned --- Colin never took kindly to people calling him 'British' --- on one foreign rally his co-driver remarked on the fans waving Union Jacks at him as he hurtled by, Colin quietly said : " I'm not British, I'm Scottish"
@@JG-ge3ui When Scots or Welsh win big in sports, they are called 'British' by the UK media, when they loose its 'Scottish' or 'Welsh' and vice versa when an Englishman wins something big. Its a fact... Why so salty?
So insane that he survived 200kph whistling between trees for hours and hours of his life, racing motorcycles etc just to get taken in a helicopter. Terrible. That said what a legend he is, he put Subaru on the map for Rally and inspired many. RIP Colin!
Will never forget 1995 GB rally , got pictures of Carlos and Collin and Richard burns all in the cars coming into service and they were all so in the zone still...Great rally times and Collin you were Amazing a proper legend 👌
Watching this and when David Richards says everyone in the UK was rooting & celebrating the results of the 1995 WRC he wasn't kidding. Remember chipping back down to Chester Racecourse for the celebrations at the finish and Prodrive kinda fucked up at their stand and sold us proper staff only 555 jackets. Every services we stopped at on the way home we had people shaking our hands and congratulating us on our success. Guess they were probably a little disappointed when they saw me get into my shitty little company Escort and drive off. Still it's nice to see i'm the slightly blurred face @ 11.56 2nd left from bottom right in this vid. RIP Colin, Johnny, Ben & Greame all gone far to early.
In all rally fans, including me... the number one best rally driver will always be Colin McRae... regardless of how many Championship he had won or anything, but his flamboyant, determination, sideways and never give up easily-style is what makes him a legend....he really deserves a biopic movie...
Born to go flat out. That's why i idolize this Man. I remember when he participated to the Dakar rally. Unfortunately he retired by crashing the car, but man, the speeds he was putting where surreal. Special driver!!!!
RIP Colin, I remember when he and his Dad, Jim, were racing at the same time, I must have been about 6 years old but remember it being on the TV - it was what made me so captivated by Rally. GBNF big man.
We already had a lot of biopics of great talents, Ray Charles, Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles, Niki Lauda and James Hunt...Colin McRae should be documented in Biopic...
Not afraid to say this documentary had me emotional. It's when you look at the meaning of life and the impact you had in the world after you leave it.... Colin made his mark. He can be proud of that. His family can be proud of that. Thankyou for the good memories Colin...
What a guy what a loss even sadder is family in the helicopter, tragic to a life of love, winning and putting UK on the map of rallying again ..RIP all my respect.and I will never forget Chester best day of my life...🇬🇧👍🏼
***** Not a problem. It's been on my computer for years and was surprised not to see it on here already. It's a great documentary and a great tribute to the legend that is, Colin McRae
This mans passion won peoples hearts all over the world and even motivated so people two take this sport further and further god bless McRae and his family ✌✌✌
First heard of him through the PlayStation game & then got addicted to rallying. I've still got some old VHS tapes, because I was so young & it used to be on late (about 3am if I remember right) we used to record it & watch the next day. Good memories of a great man R.I.P
Barney Wobba What a great choice of car that was! Do you still have the car or have any pictures of it? They are quite a sought after model as you can imagine :-D
based on your profile pic were you even old enough to drive back then? let alone drive an impreza tuned by Prodrive. I'm 28 now and would have been about 5 at the time. hmm
Now we have ken plop thinking hes at colins level mayb in fame copying everything colin did 1st. Except winning true rally events. But colin even with his dad earned his own way up. Ken block just has a rich dad who gave him his shoe deal allowing him to drive 1000 takes whatever it takes to look good. Colin just was.
I get your point but Ken block has done some amazing bits of driving. I mean have you ever watched gymkhana. I’ve never seen Collin pull off some of the things he’s done. In my opinion there both really good drivers. Fair enough if you think Ken block is all daddy’s money but in the end winning is winning by an inch or a mile
@@Rhys423 Ken Block practises those gymkhana stunts repeatedly. Colin Mcrae drives incredibly on his first go. Ken Block is decent, but he's nowhere near the level of any wrc driver.
Theres not many men who make us all proud to be british even fewer in modern time but Colin Mcrea is one man who brings all brits proud of the union one nation. Real Scottish, English, Welsh and Irish mens driving idol.
Exactly lol the English want to claim him because he was great but he was Scottish not English or Irish or Welsh. Funny how they talk shit on each other until someone does something great then it's ( he's British).
Absolutely the best motor sport in the world well come two the WRC epic 🙏🙏🙏 and Malcolm Wilson I loved the Michael pilot escort cosworth it's still my most favourite WRC car and I still have this one from my profile picture the best day ever so glad I was born in the 80s and bein able two see this 👍👍👍
so so sad i still struggle with the fact he is no longer with us him and ayrton senna are the only car drivers that seem to effect me this way perhaps because i followed both their careers and knew of them well before they drove as a paid professionals :-(
@@rotax636nut5 cannot really compare them because at the end of the day they were in different sports and senna started as a pro paid driver approx 12-15yr before Colin
When u see a subaru u should think of colin. The blue of subaru and the Scotland flag. The sleek nice looks. And the noise is the accent of Colin and scotland. Rip legend.
Does any one know when did he say: "IF IN DOUBT, FLAT OUT".....?? I really want to see a video of Colin saying that... Can any one help me out with this?
Un gran piloto humilde que dejó una gran huella en el mundo del rally , me hubiese gustado verlo en sus grandes hazañas que conmovieron a todo el mundo.
Is it ironic now or poetic justice that as Carlos Sainz and and Colin rallied to beat each other, Carlos Sainz’s son Carlos Jr. now races in F1 for the classic British team McLaren
Very true....I simply downloaded it years ago to my pc....be nice in 4K but hey...it's better than nothing. Before I uploaded this there was nothing so as the saying goes..better than nowt! Enjoy
