Use a highlighter brush it’s a popular makeup brush. They’re very cheap at any Walgreens or Walmart The bristles are perfect for spreading out the pollen in the flowers
I suggest to wear mask whenever you are collecting dragon fruit pollen. It may cause allergy one day. Too much pollen sucks by human is good for health?
Hey, super good the tutorial, I ask, can one mix all the pollen from the different varieties and then pollinate the flowers? With all that pollen mixed in?
Absolutely fascinating!!! You are the human equivalent of a bee 🐝🐝🐝 Much more involved than it looks, growing this magnificent fruit. I love you're videos, you present and speak very well, easy to understand. And your enthusiasm for what you do is infectious 😁😁😁👍👍👍
Thank you Bryan! I always love your positive and kind comments. You make my day with your brightness! Thanks for watching my videos and supporting my channel. I very much appreciate you and your kindness!
I just missed the 1st follower... and I have 6 more on the way... so can we collect pollen and put it in fridge or freezer for next season? I moved to Atlanta from Northern California and I’m supper happy that’s my dragon fruits are blossoming after 1.5 years from some branches I brought from California.
I was wondering if it was possible to use the pollen from the first flower on the same plant to pollinate a slightly later blooming one and any other later ones?
Hi Gravity, yes you can keep using this pollen to pollinate the same plant with later blooming flowers. You just have to make sure to dry it over night and store it in a container that is air tight in your fridge. It will work up to 30 days.
I tried collecting in the morning a few times with dismal results. The Pollen releases much better shortly after the flower opens. How are you freezing it? My frozen pollen did not work.
Why do you store the pollens ?? Is it mandatory? Coz i have this plant at home and its been like 5years it only blooms and dies off . Then quite recently came across a video that I need to pluck off the dried flower. Why do we do that ? 😰
To pollinate the dragon fruit flower just in case the bees didn't pollinate it, and to pollinate other type of dragon fruit flowers that can't be pollinated by it's own pollen.
Hey can I ask a question my dragon fruit also blooms but never fruits I pollinated it there's been bees there's been malts I'm not sure why there's no fruit
He's collecting the pollen to pollinate other dragon fruit flower that can't be pollinate by it's own pollen, or to pollinate just in case bees or other insect didn't pollinate.
Hi Richard I need your help I bought my first dragon fruit plant to local nursery but I think it’s red dragon fruit that needs to cross pollenate. it bloom 1 bud and it’s going to flower soon I wonder if you have a little pollen to keep my 1 bud alive very first I live in Burbank California I’m wondering if I could buy some of your pollen?
You mentioned to keep it for next years. do you freeze it or just refrigerate it? If frozen would it not destroy the genetic makeup? Hope, to hear from you. Thanks.
Hi Elizabeth Cerdenio & Doc the Raelin, feel free to send me an email so that way I can send you the full details of how to properly store it. It seems some people in here think that I don’t know so I don’t answer. The truth is I just get so many comments I’d sometimes miss the question. But more than happy to help you both out Elizabeth and Raelian! Graftingdragonfruit@gmail.com
So if I have only 1 flower, does that mean I won’t get any fruit since there’s no cross pollination? Does DF self pollinate ? Last year I have 1 flower and was so excited but it never fruit for me. Been growing DF for 3 yrs now and haven’t had any fruit yet. This year I’ve seen 1 bud so far. Any advice ?
It depends on what kind of dragon fruit you have. Try to pollinate with it's own pollen, if it doesn't pollinate then you will need to cross pollinate.
Beautiful flowers! Are those the male flowers that come out first? I savedmpollen from our cucumber for later we got a lot of plants...Do you sell the seeds, those look amazing, thanks for the video on the stand you built we can use that thank you
Hello I use an online translator, my dragon fruit plant gave flowers 3 times and in the first 2 it was successful, but in the third it was not successful, there was none left around 10 flowers, you had these experiences and knew why they didn't argue, tabasco, mex, greetings
Hello, do you have pollinate your dragon fruit. Sometimes the flowers need help with putting pollen into the pistol of the dragon fruit. This will increase their chances to become fruit. If you did hand pollinate and it still falls off you may need to cross pollinate with a different variety of dragon fruit.
Hi Richard, I’m a newbee to growing dragon fruit and i’m learning a lot of tips from your blog. Do you sell or share cuttings? Please Pm. Thank you. I think we live close by. Your Tita Merle from Fullerton.
Sim, eu congelaria meu pólen e o usaria para futuras flores que se abrirão para polinizar. No meu canal, há um vídeo sobre como armazenar o pólen que você pode assistir.
Hi Bruno, I bought this head lamp on amazon. It runs on AAA battery. It last up to 48hrs of continuous use. The visibility is great you can see it from my video.
@@GraftingDragonFruit okay 🙂, have a good day, i love your videos, i show to my dad and translate to him in Portuguese, we have a dragon fruit farm in brazil.
Grafting Dragon Fruit 2 months ago I’ve successfully stored pollen for over 8 months with it still having success. He said he put pollen in a glass jar and store it in freezer
@Kenneth Wilson you can collect the pollen like Richard making sure that you also pollinate the flower. Put the extra pollen in a sealed container and put it in the refrigerator. I saw a people do testing and it seems like hand pollinated fruit tends to be bigger.
You have the wonderful and beautiful dragonfruits I had ever seen...well maintained, healthy and beautiful dragon fruits...I would love to be like you on caring this beautiful fruit.
Mas como armazenar o pólen? Na geladeira? Congelador? Em saco plástico? Sem humidade? E quando devo usar esse pólen após ele ter sido retirado da flôr? Att.
@@GraftingDragonFruit how to know if a flower is already self pollinated or not ? and also when you're collecting the pollen then are you also pollinating that same flower ?

Wow! thank you I learned more from you Sir, awesome to know, I am more inspired and wish to know more because the stem of your plants are big. what should I do the stem of my dragon plants are skinny yet with roots hanging that I got to cut them only because they are size like one or two fingers , lucky I got a buds to fruit still small but I did now have chicken manure as you said hopes grows greener and big.Your Dragon looks very good my family remarks. We envy .......God bless you and your family.
Thank you Dieter Schulz! You can help branches grow bigger by exposing it to more sun light. When they have more direct sun they have energy to grow bigger and thicker. Chicken manure will help with the fruits size and taste. They will be sweeter. For branches they require good fertilizer and plenty of sun. 5-6 hours a day is how much sun my Dragon fruit plants get. :)
How long you can keep it in the fridge?? When you’re hand polonaises, you use it right away from the freezer or you have to “ wake them up “...?? Thanks.
Hi Hien, you can keep it in the fridge up to 30 days. If you want to store it in your freezer, you can watch this video to answer all your questions. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MQtZL74SLgc.html
