Glad you mention about mixing pollen. Very informative video. I never know what pollen to use. I’ve also had a flower where the stigma was closed. I opened it but the hole wasn’t there it was tight. What would you do? The flower didn’t take and aborted. But I also may have used the wrong pollen. Thanks
Very nice collection of dragon fruit! I have that keyboard vaccuum and wow is it a gamechanger! I've checked all your videos and can't find any information on the black tubing / hose that you have attached to the tomato cage. Is it a garden hose or irrigation tubing? I've been using the tomato cage, reinforced with the steel pipes, and PVC pipe. I attached the 4 pvc pipe sections with rubberized wire, that I get at Home Depot. Unfortunately, my dragon fruit plants got too large (and unbalanced) and all ended up falling over! My solution has been to start all over and try cutting the branches on the 3rd ring, NOT the top ring! This appears to be a great solution, as my demo has not tipped over! My son came over and noticed the solution has really worked out! From now on, all my future plantings will be cut above the 3rd ring of the tomato cage.
Thank you for the close up views when pollinating. I see you dabbed pollen into the center hole. Then you dusted the little tentacles, is that correct? I also learned from this video how to collect pollen which needs to be dry before storing. How long can pollen be stored in freezer?
Yes but make sure your pollen isn’t wet or else it can be bad. Collecting pollen and storing them saves space and it’s more prefer method than just throwing the entire flower in the fridge.
So you can leave pollen in the refrigerator up to 30 days? Without freezing? I'm currently growing sugar dragon so I can have a general pollinator. Thanks, for all the information! I'm going to save this video.
Thank you for the video, it was great; never seen those dragon fruits with red flowers. I'm curious, where are you located? am in South Florida and I imagine it will be the same process no matter what region you are in, right?
I just had my first fruit and it was amazing. What I didn't know was some are self sterile which is all I have flowering in my backyard at the moment. Shame. Is there anything I can do or are the odds against me?
Hi, first time to watch your video. Your content is very educational. It’s my first time to have flowers on my dragon fruit. Unfortunately, i didn’t get any pollen from other members when I asked so that I can cross pollinate my Bruni so all of them aborted. Can you please spare me if you have extra pollens so I can pollinate my upcoming flowers. I can PM you my address if it’s ok. Please let me know how much you’re charging including mailing so I can send you my check. Thank you!
Do you know Pink diamond? I have plenty and so far they are the best growers and producers but they seem to have no pollen. Is this your understanding.
Are you sterilizing that vacuum in between collections? Good information shared for those who want just fruit, be sure to have Vietnam White, Sugar Dragon or American Beauty as they are universal pollinators and you can use their pollen on many types of DF to make fruit.
I love your vidio, very complete education pollination. Would you like to sell the pink dragon pruit plant to me please.I don't mine with the cutting one. I love the colour of the flowers 💕💕 I have the white, purple and yellow dragon fruit plant but I haven't have the pink one yet.
It’s part of growing dragon fruit. When cold+rain= cooper rusted which eventually lead to smushy yellow. Sometimes there’s black spots that occurs internal of the flesh. To save time, just cut it off.
