Sorry, I’ve got to say this... MaCenna, for the sake of your loyal subscribers and fangirls, please chime in here. I’ve seen countless comments by women saying they can’t afford the candle but they will ‘save up for it’, take on extra work, defer bills, use a payment plan, to get this candle. For the love of God. Ladies, it’s a candle. It’s great that you love MaCenna and love her brand but you should not be stretching your normal budget to buy this or any candle. This is actually serious. I’m not trolling. The candle looks nice, MaCenna is great. But the product is being marketed at a base luxury tier. If you comfortably have money to spend on luxury candles then please do consider giving this new brand a try. If you don’t normally buy candles from brands like Jo Malone or Diptyque then Auden Lueur is not for you (and there’s no shame in that). Nobody should be incurring even the slightest amount of financial strain or hardship over a candle.

I have been thinking the exact same thing since the beginning of this series. I absolutely love Macenna and her channel, but this item is completely out of my budget (with shipping it's $109 CAD). I appreciate Macenna showing us the journey, and the value to the piece can't be understated after seeing the entire process and how much love she put into it, but if people can't afford it that's *completely okay*. This is a luxury product, you can show your support to Macenna and her channel in a number of other ways. It's a little disappointing to me, as someone who's followed her since before she bought the cottage and respected her greatly for the fact that she was salvaging and givingus a ton of low cost DIY tips, as someone who just purchased my first home on a low budget with a fixed income. This collection and the collab with Aurate have been way, way above the average follower's budget. I hope soon we can get back to the DIY and low budget content!

@@a.andrewss I think her content reflects her life - as it should. If it didn't, she wouldn't be authentic. The simple DIYs were perfect for where she (and most of her followers) were in life - 20s and in an apartment. But she's grown into her 30s and home ownership and so the projects and decorating reflect that. Most of what she shows on her channel is still pretty inexpensive but looks expensive enough to fit into her home. And her projects are easily broken down into more manageable chunks - both timewise and financially. For instance, her kitchen do-over. The lion's share was painting. You can do that in stages in your home to spread the expense and the time investment - ceilings, trim, walls, cabinets. Then the hardware. Then a trip to a discount fabric shop that carries remnants to find fabric for curtains. Or use tea towels, etc as she considered. I helped a friend who change her kitchen to a Mexican vibe with lots of color. I bought Turkish towels on Amazon in the colors she wanted and cut them to make cute cafe curtains from them, leaving the fringed edges at the bottoms. They were very affordable, easy to wash and turned out so cute! Lots of ways to make budget curtains! Then a trip to the thrift shops for a few decor items. Each step can be done a week or two or three apart if that's what you need to do. Same thing with ANY makeover MaCenna does. Just break it down and take it in stages, starting with paint if you're changing that. It will instantly freshen your room until you can move to the next step. As for her showing the pricier items she buys or is gifted from companies? Study them to see what you like about them and what makes them look like quality pieces. Shapes, colors, textures, sizes... Then go online and search for items with that same feel - Overstock can have quality for good prices. Go to stores with price points you can afford and look for similar items. Even there, MaCenna still checks out Target and definitely the discount home decor stores like Home Goods, At Home, Homesense. You could also try overall discounters like TJ Maxx and Marshall's for great decor at lower prices (selection may be more limited, but you may find exactly what you want). Or, in the case of pillows and soft goods, buy fabric remnants at the discount fabric shop and make your own pillows. They may sell pillow forms there or you can find them inexpensively elsewhere. You may need to drive to your nearest town or city of some size to find a fabric shop like that. It's worth the trip, especially if you can combine other shopping to make the day worthwhile. I guess my point is that MaCenna's channel and the projects she does match with where she is in her life. And she keeps them realistic and cost-effective. It would be absurd for her to continue with the same, simple DIYs from the past. She could do that, but she wouldn't put them into her current house and then she'd be called out for that. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'll take the current MaCenna and find ways to make it work for me.

This country is on the brink of a recession. Heating our homes, providing food on the table, medical costs, clothing our babies...that is where the stress truly is. This was an entertaining series, but I miss the cottage and all the trips looking for vintage finds. Please go back to what made you a star on RU-vid in the first place.

I simply can’t afford these candles anymore….There was a time when I could but even then, my common sense would not allow me pay that much for a candle. I am most certainly not going to go into debt or save money to purchase one. I absolutely adore McCenna and wish her the best in her pursuits. I’d prefer if she kept it real. Perhaps people who can afford that candle would be more inclined to hire an interior designer rather than on the internet seeking decorating ideas 🫶🤔🥰

Buying scented items online for me is really challenging, I always need to test them first in store. I'd love to try a votive sampler set so I could purchase a full size of a scent I know I'd love. Maybe an idea for the next launch?

I’m in the same boat. I have allergies to so many scents and need to try them out before making an expensive purchase. Hoping there will be made a way that we can experience the scents in a smaller, less expensive way. I wish MaCenna the absolutely best success. I’ve never seen any creator work as hard as she does and any success is well deserved.

That's an awesome idea. I don't want to pay fifty dollars for a candle and not like the scent. Maybe do some wax melts as well so we can try before purchasing a high dollar candle.

I appreciate all the time and thought that has gone into producing this beautiful quality candle right down to the packaging. It's been interesting to see the entire process. I wish Macenna all the success with this endeavor. One candle with shipping and tax is about 65.00 to my door. Not in my budget on a fixed income. We live different life styles. Though I won't be enjoying one of these beauties I hope they are a sellout. So nice to see a dream come true!

A quick thought, you could sell lids that fit separately for those who want to re-use the jars that way. Like the Oui yogurt, you can get lids to fit and reuse 😊

For someone that puts so much love, time and effort into something that they are creating, cost is going to play a big part because of everything that it takes to make it. She hand designed a lot of what is going into this to make these candles. She is making sure that these are high quality and not some cheap candles in some plain glass jars and even wanting to make sure they are as full as they can be so you are getting more of the candle. I hear so many people say well I can get that cheaper somewhere else. You get what you pay for. If you don’t want to pay that much for a candle, that is clearly your choice but don’t try to come down on someone for making something from their heart that may be more than what YOU want to pay. Supplies are not cheap and neither is someone’s time and effort to make nice things for others. I say congratulations to MaCenna. I hope this is everything that you have envisioned it to be. Now I’m gonna go check out some of those candles 😁

If you've watched the entire experience you can understand the expense of it all, the hours & detail. I just think many of us are disappointed that we can't share the experience & own one. We're not taking anything away from her we are just disappointed we can't afford one.

Congratulations on your launch. They are beautiful. Just a thought going forward. As reading the comments and me included, it has shown to be a little pricey for most of your demographic. For everything you put into it, and the high end the product is , it is a great idea to make the vessel reusable. That being said , Maybe in the future you could make stand along candles 🕯️ that are more affordable for some and can act as a reusable candle in the vessel already purchased. I live in a very small house, I have to limit things I being into my home . I would love the vessel, but would love to continue to use it as the candle , meaning once I burn through the original candle, and it’s wonder fragrance, I would love to be able to buy a refill with out having to buy the whole vessel again. This would help some keep the candle going , and others to feel included in being able to afford your wonderful fragrances . It wouldn’t cheapen your product in any way . Just make it more versatile, and not exclude so many of your loyal followers. Just food for thought . Many blessing ❤

I'm gonna buy all 3 this weekend to support if they're still available. Here's one suggestion: The price point is fair for the quality. BUT, perhaps offer the quality scents in a simple basic glass jar, and budget packaging minus moms art to cut the cost down a bit for those who want to support but can't swing the initial price point. And perhaps make it a limited time offer. I think the signature jar and packaging should be reserved for full price point. Kinda of like bath and body works. They have their $26 candle, then that same candle in smaller versions with simplier glass sold at $15. That way you hit TWO price points to market to the greatest number of people. Someone may not spend $50 for a candle but perhaps are more willing to spend $20 minus the signature glass vessel and special box with Moms art. JUST a suggestion. I see from the comments that many want to support but cant swing the price. Maybe what I suggested can be a second launch some time down the road. For Christmas I gifting myself all 3❤ Congrats Makenna

That may not be possible for the shape of the current vassel (or it would have to be pillar candles that would be loose inside, maybe), but I'd love for her to develop a new vessel that can do that, it's a wonderful idea !

You have to be really careful with reusing glass with candles. It wouldn’t be safe for her to sell refills for a glass container. But you could else use do it yourself with left over wax from other candles. Just be vigilant on watching that candle because that glass may break due to the heat stress.

One of the things holding me back from buying the candle is that I have to imagine the scents. While MaCenna is painting the scent so beautifully and you can truly imagine what they’re smell like but you really don’t know until you smell it yourself. If I were able to smell a sample drop of wax on a piece of paper, perhaps I could be convinced to buy the candle at the price it is but I’m so worried I’d spend $52 and not absolutely LOVE it. I want to know exactly what I’m getting if I’m spending that much but I can’t justify it without being certain. Best of luck MaCenna. I hope in future launches, we find ways to make it more accessible for the masses price wise even if that means tea lights, etc. The sky is the limit for you!!

So excited for you! Im in Canada and as much as I'd love to support you, I just can't justify $75 for a candle, especially at this time of year. The detail and quality is undeniable and holds a lot of worth for sure, I know. I just dont think the average person can afford that. But to the right clientele, it should work out ;). In saying that, I hope they do well for you and I wish you the best.

I calculated shipping and it was $35 for a major city in Ontario. Hope the venture goes well and her investors are happy, but this totally exceeds what I am comfortable spending on a candle.

Yes!! Me too. Sometimes an area calls for a miniature or small piece of art and trying to locate good quality frames is impossible. I have had to resort to Amazon for a 5x7 frame for a small piece of watercolor art I wanted to hang near a hall table. The one I found is pretty, at around $25, but truthfully I would have preferred either a true vintage frame or one of the caliber of the quality of a vintage one. I know with Macenna's eye for detail she can create a design for vintage inspired frames of high quality. I think a small framed print set next to one of her amazing candles would be spectacular!! @@sandralee6848

MaCenna… the floral photo shoot you have for Elorie isn’t showing a violet, but is an Impatient plant/ flower, which doesn’t typically have a scent. You probably won’t see your violets or pansies till spring. Also the floral painting you had in your bathroom wasn’t Hydrangeas, but Peonies. I’m sorry to sound like a stickler, but the correct names are relevant I think.

The price is a little high for me when you add in $12 shipping and $.98 damage protection. as beautiful as the packaging is, I wonder if simpler packaging could make it more affordable? Hi MaCenna, I’m so happy for your new business adventure. I wish you a lot of success. I see many comments from people who cannot afford your candles, an idea would be that you include smaller sizes, even a version without the vessel, I understand that your candles are handmade and the quality of them cannot be compared, from the essence, the wax, the glass vessel, the wick, that is priceless and all of excellent quality. Take into account adding other sizes.

It's so unlike me to spend this much on candles, but I ordered the bundle. The vessels are so beautiful (each one in a different way), so according to my math the total price includes 6 items; 3 candles and 3 vessels. And I get to support a small business, which I am pretty sure makes me a hero.

Same. I'm usually a cheapie candle girl but seeing the work and precision and love she and her mom put into these. I want one for a decor piece to light at special times. I had to have the green vessel it's so gorgeous. And she is the first youtuber/influencer who I've bought something from that is genuine quality. So excited. This was my xmas present to myself! When mama needs a moment imma light this candle and take a bath. ❤❤ we deserve it+

I totally get how much time and effort is put into making these beautiful candles but I think a lot of us out here couldn't and wouldn't pay that much h for a candle. They are beautiful and I love your mom's art work. Not knocking you down for anything you have done. I can see how much you have put into them. Just a bit to expensive.

It's insanely high for the average viewer imo, but she wanted something luxurious rather than affordable I think is what she said from the start so there is nothing to be surprised about. I enjoy watching it and I don't care about availability because I enjoy her extravagance. It is out of my price range though.

I'm so sad that I can't afford these candles. I was fawning over these progress videos from the start and have been a fan of MaCenna for years. The price does feel out of touch to market to her community of DIYers and thrifters. I DIY because I can't afford contractors and thrift because I can't afford new! There's no world in which I could justify over $50 for a candle. Money is tight and with the holidays coming up...

I’m not going to give macenna a hard time about the price. Most of us don’t know what goes into making a business and have no idea how much time energy and money went into this. They look beautiful and I’m sure they smell amazing, however like most, I still cannot afford $75 CAD plus shipping on a candle. I barely can afford groceries. And even if I could afford to spend that much I’m not sure I could ever justify it to myself. But like I said, macenna is so hard working and so passionate about what she does, I hope all the success in the world for her! Whether she sells candles for 75$ or 500$, I’m so proud of you and happy your dreams are coming true 🌈😊

I think sometimes people forget the work that goes into making the best of something. These candles have quality ingredients, a reusable vessel, custom artwork by your mom in sustainable packaging. Well worth the price tag in my opinion and way better than a crappy $30 Yankee candle. When I have the extra $$ to spend I will be sure to get the Ellori one. 🥰

Have been to site, got candles in cart. But wanted to watch video before committing. $52 + shipping is $$$ especially for a candle to burn once. May consider refills & a lid would also be fantastic! I’d like to either use the vessel for another refillable candle scent or for some kind of trinket. A lid would complete the look. 😁

As a single mom, this is just not a justifiable purchase for me especially at the holidays. I would love a pack of tea lights or something smaller and maybe some pretty tea light vessels sold separately for those who need an affordable option. I think that would help your audience feel like there’s more inclusivity for the different backgrounds and situations that people are coming from.

I think ppl aren’t understanding it’s a luxury candle she said that in the beginning of the video. You can tell that her products will be up there. Just like her collaborations. It’s a harsh reality but her products won’t be for everyone. Personally I also couldn’t justify 100+ for two candles. But when watching and seeing what effort and products went I tot he candles I understand. She also had to pay for the candle makers. The business that helped her make the entire product. The business that made the boxes. The business that made the fragrances of the candles and poured the candles. The photographer. And who knows who else so 50 something per candle isn’t bad. Then it’s the type of candle wax and materials being used throughout.

I love your reply not harsh as many explained. The reality is these candles were probably expensive to make also her profit margin couldn't be high shipping alone must have been because of the weight $15 and that varies if you're further away, the box perhaps $5 The quality of the products perhaps $15 The vessel maybe another 10 Plus she pays taxes on her profit and who knows what else. I hope she makes at least $10. I'll save up and get one one day❤ Honestly I hope she makes them smaller and lighter❤

XO McKenna does not have a mean bone in her body and truly I cannot even entertain her feeling or treating anyone in that manner. I also live very frugally and on a fixed income, so probably cannot afford this beautiful product either. BUT!!! It has been designed for long term use of a beautiful vessel for so many more decorative or practical uses. So for THAT! I am going to round up my piggy bank and get just 1 , to have as a keepsake. Will do without that treat of a to go special coffee for a few months. Brilliant photography and grateful for her taking all of us who watch and appreciate her talents and passion.

But i do have to say that although I'm almost always content with my simple, frugal life, this is seriously making me sad for myself and all of us who will never be able to afford something like this when there are groceries to be bought and bills to be paid. I hope all that can afford these candles enjoy them immensely and realise the privilege that they have. My friends and I in the lower 95 will enjoy watching this story though!

As a small business owner myself (handmade jewellery, not candles) I really appreciate you showing the many processes, hours, and passion that goes into creating something that is high quality and high value. People are so used to cheap mass produced items that they don't fully appreciate the countless hours creating something we are truly proud of, every micro decision that goes into it - and the years!! So I actually think the price point is spot on for something so handcrafted and high quality as your candles. You are not only supporting yourself, but also a number of small businesses as well with the production. Once you ship to the UK I will definitely be purchasing one to support your endeavours!
