Hi. Can you believe an 85 Oldsmobile is over 35 and considered a classic "antique"? In 85, a 35-year old car would've been a 1950! What a difference! I miss the hood ornament and landau roofs. You most likely won't see them again. In 85, my dad would've been in his early 60's (WW II generation) and would've appealed to that generation.

The trim tag on the 1965 Cadillac decodes as 04C for the fourth week of April 1965 production, 65 for 1965 model year, 68367 for DeVille convertible, FWD for Fleetwood body plant, which would then be brought to Clark Street/Detroit, MI for final assembly, 360 is light blue leather interior trim, 20 is Hampton Blue exterior paint, 3 is for a blue convertible top, E is for Soft Ray tinted glass, Y is for six way power seat, M is for power door locks and K is for Comfort Control air conditioning system.

Caddy convertible was nice. (not my thing but nice) 54 Ford pickup nice at the right price. Miata popular with many. The Delta 88 is a good car. Owned a few with the 3.8 & 3800 engines. I had a Olds Ciera with 220,000 miles that Good on fuel.

I bought a Oldsmobile like that one time from a car lot and they said it had a rod knocking. Bought it for $300 and it was actually the torque converter bolts loose.

Great video Mr. Goodpliers. My parents bought an '85 98 new after trading in their '79 98 which I loved. I always saw those late 80s fwd 98s & 88s as dressed up Cutlass Cieras. Their last 98 was a '91 which did look just a little like the 98s of the past... just a little. No question, the 3800 series engine was in fact bullet proof and the best feature of those cars.

That caprice with the LT1 does not have an electric water pump. It is driven from the back side by the cam. Tell the difference between 65 and 66 cadillac froim a mile away. Look at the curb lights, and tail lights, totally different.

The only time in my opinion a odometer should be reset is when it's been restored and the engine is rebuilt and the car has gone back to "New" Condition it should never be reset any other time that's my opinion anyway.

Interesting point about cars from 2010-now, I would like to hear some stories about problems people have started to have. Always wondered how modern electronics-laden cars will hold up 2 decades from now.

I agree. I own a 07 Grand Marquis, and haven't owned anything newer. I'm not sure how keen I am on ignitionless start. I've heard stories where people have been locked out of their vehicles if the battery dies and what if you lose or need the key fobs replaced. Typically costly as it has to be programmed at the dealer. Thanks

I started selling cars in late 1985 at a Chevy Olds dealership and the Regency 98 Brougham was the tip-top most expensive car we sold at $24,995. When I sold three in one week, the other salespeople thought I was on to something crazy good. We all loved that 3.8 V6 on those front wheel drive cars. They could really scoot!.

I bought an 86 Riviera in 87 with a 3.8. It was a great car, we did have the regular problems. We had to replace the rack and pinion because the bushings were made of aluminum, the automatic transmission had to be rebuilt and the fiber timing belt pulleys gave out. We sold it after several years after the big three hit. It had a digital dash with the heat controls, radio, and all sorts of information in it. It was great to drive, great gas mileage.
