It was honestly the most stressful thing I've done, and due to my indecisive nature I decided to apply under an early decision plan. I know it's not the best for everyone, but it ended up working nicely for me. I will be attending Vanderbilt this fall and I couldn't be happier!! Thanks for all your helpful college videos (:

She's exactly right about UVA being nearly impossible for OOS students. I'm from CA and exceeded (by a lot) all UVA's average stats and was deferred early and ultimately waitlisted. It was one of the first regular decisions I'd received, so I was super worried that getting waitlisted for UVA, a school I thought I was pretty level with academically, was indicative of my reach school decisions that would come later that week. Fortunately, that assumption was so wrong - I got into UC Berkeley, Emory, GW, Northwestern, and more. The ONLY schools I was waitlisted at were UVA and UNC Chapel Hill, both of which just hate OOS students. Moral of the story - if you're waitlisted, DON'T GIVE UP HOPE

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to be in-state for UVA. It's one of my top schools right now. I like that everything seems to have worked out great for you at USC. That's the best advice I've gotten:that no matter what, it all works out.

This series is amazing! I love all of your videos, but your school related ones are my favoritee. I was wondering if you could please consider making a video on how you studied in high school! I know you mentioned in your how to get straight a's video that you sit down and get everything done, along with doing ALOT of practice, but I'm more interested in your method of studyings so flashcards or rereading notes or whatever. You have displayed amazing academic sucess and studying advice from you would be gold. Would really appreciate it if you did it. Excited for more videos in the future!

omg I got waitlisted at UVA too! And it was my top choice as well but now I'm over it lol. I think it worked out for the best though because now I'm going to Villanova with a ton of money and I'm so excited. Great video btw I wish I found this video before my college application process

I have watched this series every step of the college process way! These are the most useful videos about the college process by far! This series was uploaded right before my senior year started so I watched all five videos at once in the beginning, and re-watched them as I got to each stage. Now I'm so excited to be choosing a college! Your advice is raw and true and completely applicable! They are so unique but so helpful! I am actually torn in a three way tie between USC, UVA, and William and Mary. I am literally a swinging pendulum (for three pivot places? idk). Anyway, I'll stop babbling now. But your college videos are amazing Katherine!

I wish there were more youtubers who go to college on an athletic scholarship! This video is helpful but I need advice on college recruiting, when to commit, how to know what college you want to go to, etc. Great video though!

Notre dame is my absolute dream school. My father attended and hearing someone get into ND gives me chills. That's such an amazing accomplishment-- good for you. Even though you did not attend, you should still feel like a badass for that!! I'm in the process of applying to USC and ND right now. Go Irish & fight on!!

I can’t believe how insightful this is now that I am watching it as a senior. I have been facing the same conflict you described with my top two schools Vanderbilt and WashU and I realized the exact thing you said! I kept defending Vanderbilt for its slightly better reputation but my heart was with WashU and its business program. I kept going back and forth but I am so happy to say I will be attending WashU in the fall!!!

You are really helpful in my whole college seeking process and helping me in high school with informing me about things that I should be doing as a senior in high school. I appreciate the work you put into these to give such helpful advice :) I have a question for you - is there any way you'd be willing to look at my transcript, extracurriculars, and standardized test scores and tell me how good of a shot you think I have of getting into USC while being from Virginia? I miss CA so much and USC is in my top 3 and I thought you might be able to give me some more advice seeing as you work in the admissions office and I can't afford to go there for a tour or anything. Watching your videos has really prepared me for the moment or rejection or acceptance. I was Rejected from USC (;-;) but accepted to some of my others. I wish I had found your videos before my senior year of high school. Last year during my junior year I was so lost and now I'm stressed out about my scores and applications.

I was just deferred from uva and I"m hoping to get accepted regular decision. It's my top choice too but it really is impossible to get out of state! I just found your channel today, and subscribed after a couple of videos and started binge watching your videos. They are amazing. I cried when I didn't get accepted to my number one school. But they said that I have a chance of getting in if I retake my ACT. I'm like praying that I do really well on my next ACT. I will cry if I don't get in. My parents seem to want me to go to the community college for a bit before leaving, but I really am set on this college. The college is Bowling Green State University. Also, I've toured 10 colleges because I'm in the top 20 of my 10th and 11th grade. I'm a senior now though. And BGSU, I've toured twice because my top 2 was BGSU and Cleveland State University.

This is probably one of favorite college advice videos ever. I'm a senior and I've been accepted to all but one school I applied to but I've only visited a few so I'm scared of going to a school I like but haven't visited. Two schools I thought I liked but they are small and I've gotten scholarships to both but I don't want to just go because of scholarships. Any advice for me please. I'm so nervous and anxious.

One thing I love about being a high school student in Washington, D.C. And living there is that every state school in the country we get in-state tuition which is amazing cause I want to go to West Virginia university and in state tuition is 20,000 a year compared to like 34,000 a year for out- of state tuition

Yeah, picking a school is definitely the worst part of the process. I was kind of down to one just because I only applied to two and one was super expensive and I didn't get their big scholarship that I interviewed for, but I just got a call from them that I get full tuition for National Merit and now I have two schools with good scholarships and it actually makes it harder to choose.

Hey I was wondering if you could tell me how the application process works to American universities? I'm from the UK and we don't apply to schools separately, we do a personal statement saying why you want to do that course and it goes to a company called UCAS who send it out to the unis and everything is basically done through them, plus we can only apply to five universities. So yeah, could you tell me how that works (If it's not too much trouble!!) Great video, by the way, very helpful :) Like I said, in the UK we can only apply to five schools so I don't have as many to choose from as you (Congrats on getting into so many school by the way!) but it's still tricky to pick the school I want to go to!

I'm leaning towards media and film major and I'm currently a junior...i feel like it's extremely had to even pick a list of university to apply to next year simply because there's TOO MANY great schools ;-; (plus I'm considering Canada, US, AND European schools) i feel so lost lol

I'm a senior in high school I've started working on the application and I have a college list but I'm not 100% about all the schools on my list. Like I still want to add more schools to my list, is that bad at this point ? I haven't been able to visit that many schools yet but I set up some visits for this month to solidify the colleges already on my list. The essay scares me, I made the mistake of comparing myself to other students which made me feel insecure, and the amount of effort I have to put into this process in the next few months is daunting but I know I have to put my all into it. I feel like I'm behind. So this month I'm going to do a lot of the grunt work (more researching and essays) to catch up so that Nov and Dec will be a little better. I'm scared for my essays and also about the fact that I might not find the perfect school for myself. I just wanted to vent somewhere. Honestly this part of the process is the worst. I'm waiting to hear back from USC and UCLA, my two top choices and the wait is killing me. And along with that I have to chose from like 9 other schools I got into if those 2 don't work out. Ugh it's all so stressful!

I only applied for two universities and got accepted to both and it was very hard on which to go to I finally had to choose the one that I am in know which is Southern Nazarene University

How much does USC cost from out of state after average scholarships and financial aid and whatnot? I'm trying to weigh that out and decide between USC and the UC's.

How do you tell a college you will be attending their college? How do you tell a college you will not be attending their college? Like what is the proper way to notify for both situations? Some say write a letter, others day you can email your admissions counselor with your decision, and I don't know whats the proper way.

I don't know if I want to go to Ohio state (in state) or move all the way to California for USC

Just wondering...how much was it to apply to all those colleges like holy must have cost a fortune. In Canada it's about $50 per program and I applied to two programs out of the province and it was like $110 per program. So I sadly only applied to like 4 schools but eh less options so not as hard as choosing between 10 schools :)
