Missouri native here, I just want to let you know that both Mizzou music videos put together perfectly encapsulate what it feels like to live here. Just add humidity and you’ve basically seen it all. 💀☠️💀

we all know that mom's spaghetti is sourced from a tin and _only_ made in Dhar Mann videos - yet *ANOTHER* unrealistic living standard to appease the male fantasy.
As a Dutch person, I'm always fascinated whenever I come across the concept of 'school pride' or 'school spirit'. We don't really have that here at our universities, and talented 18-year-olds will simply join their regional or national team in their sport. There's not really collegiate sports. Why would universities which are meant for academics have such elaborate sports programs? Not all talented sports players are academically gifted. Seems like a waste of resources when they could just be doing things they're good at all day long. Having said that, it looks like so much fun! I want a week of school spirit.
The UCF hype song was "fine" but I would've killed to see them use a hype song utilizing UCF's first mascot, the Citronaut, which was literally an anthropomorphic Orange that was an astronaut. Just try and tell me you wouldn't hyped af for that. You can't.
It was a widely disliked mascot that lasted like a year, so I have so much respect for even knowing about it. I went to UCF for 2 years before transferring and didn't even know about him until this comment. 😂
Same lol. I knew college loyalty was a big thing over there but seeing these videos, my jaw was just hanging open all the time. I can't decide whether I envy the community and pride of it all, or if I'm just grateful that our universities are nowhere near this intense
Yeah I'M ALSO NOT FROM THE US but i got weirded out some of the american stuff (for example these songs) Im from brazil but theres stuff in there that I dont like too (for example brazilian funk its kinda disgusting) I like listening to music made by artists outside the US and brazil (for example bjork from iceland, Zara Larsson from sweden, japanese british singer Rina sawayama, etc.)
It's so bizarre because these schools Already have fucking awesome official fight songs, and usually their marching bands have a whole repertoire of really cool original pieces.
…that’s a good point. I wonder if these cringey versions are born of football players who wanna be as cool as the band kids who can actually preform impressive musical numbers 💀 oh how the turntables
What really disturbs me about college football is that for every really bad football team there's an immaculate band that has to watch them fail again and again lol
When I was in high school some kids wrote and recorded a music video like this about how boring our hometown is. It was around the time of the stanky leg iirc and the chorus "I've got nothing to lose/Stuck in FloMo with nothing to do." Gets stuck in my head every holiday. But I know it's still up because one of my friends found it
As cringy as these are they're actually produced pretty well. Good vocals, not to shabby lyrics, and the people look like they genuinely want to be there
Incredible talent, limited insight. So true for so many groups regardless of title. No matter where you stand, there’s something to learn from all sides no matter how tedious
in the early 2010s SEC girls almost exclusively wore sundresses on game days. usually with the school logo all over it. this is what the “girls dress like it too” line meant
In southern tradwife fashion, it's for easy access so they can immediately create new all-star athlete babies after their team wins the big championship
That choir melody in the third song sounds EXACTLY the same as the intro to the 30 Seconds to Mars song Kings and Queens, but that came out in 2009 and I'd be really surprised if a bunch of frat kids were listening to Jared Leto, so it could just be a very strange and funny coincidence
I attended Mizzou during this era. "We Are Mizzou" got played at some parties and tailgates, we knew it was terrible, but loved it. And of course, as always, F KU.
As a University of Hawai'i alum I'm glad that no one has enough pride in our school's football team to do shit like this They did make an anime called Haikyuu that's loosely based on our Men's Volleyball Team though
We have an official hype song thats exclusively about beer. It has absolutely nothing to do with the team in the lyrics, it’s just about how much the student body loves beer. It’s called “beer song”
@@UEatPoo I’m a delivery driver so it’s rather easy to have a video on in the background, when I’m not enjoying a video or driving I’m lifting heavy shit lol so you win some and you lose some
@@BuckleUpOG sorry my comment was kinda too rude. Different Jobs have their ups and downs. Be grateful tho that u can watch videos (and sit down). Thats all I was tryna say.
@@UEatPoo not sure what you originally said & this reply is cool and self aware. imho just getting to sit sometimes definitely doesn’t mean delivery driving is easy or the lesser of two evils. I don’t sit at my job working production, but our delivery drivers deal with so much crap and lift hundreds of pounds of product every day…I don’t envy them! and a bunch work off commission so if the warehouse messes up it’s still your problem. respect to everyone working & not on unemployment rn ❤
Thanks, Gabi ... My partner just introduced me to the University of Oregon hype song from this era, and it absolutely ruined my afternoon. I will also never understand why of all the mascots in the world to chose from, the U of O chose a duck. Sometimes I forget why I moved here...
I'm a bit of a CFB nerd so I can help. They were originally called the Webfoots. This was a nickname for fishermen on the east coast who served in the revolutionary war (fishing nets getting caught in their feet, Webfoot, get it?). After the war, they settled in the Willamette valley of Oregon. Because ducks have webbed feet, the duck was unofficially deemed a mascot for Oregon. In the 1960's, the team adopted the name. Another fun fact: The University of Oregon is the only team that has a Disney character as the official mascot through a handshake deal between Walt Disney and the Athletic director.
I grew up here as a duck fan, and I cannot express to you how huge a deal “I Love My Ducks” was. It was on shirts, it was sung by full stadiums and it got so popular that OTHER SCHOOLS STARRED TO COPY IT. Truly the worst timeline
The "thing" for Seminole is definitely meant to be a tomahawk chop considering the town was named after the Seminole Indian Tribe. So there's that too.
Okay, this kinda makes me want to go to an American university, it looks so fun! Also, why are the students so… i don’t know… jacked… middle aged man like. I go to uni in London and all the boys are the pretty kind (except that one american exchange student). And the only guy that I even saw do sports was in equestrian, fencing and dance, apart from that, all of them are in the library revising.
It's also rivalries you'd find further north in the Midwest whether border or in-state (Iowa-Iowa State, Michigan-Michigan State, Ohio State-Michigan, Wisconsin-Minnesota, etc). The difference is that you'd probably get actual riots or hilarious stuff from those rivalries further north such as El Assico, where Iowans mock which team is worse.
KU and MU have a long drawn out history that goes back to the civil war. No I'm not joking. MO was a slave state KS was a free state so MO was mad the slaves kept crossing the border and KS was helping them so there were some skirmishes. Then Kansas invaded MO and burned serveral towns to the ground and killed and assaulted a bunch of women and kids. At this point you can tell no one was the good guys and no one was in the right after KS did that. And it made MO so angry they burned crops and outlaws such as Jesse James would target only KS people for decades after this. And the mascot of KU is The jayhawks and that's what the Kansas side called themselves during the civil war. So they made their state universities mascot a diss which turned MU against them. So they have always hated each other and passed that hate down to their kids who passed it to their kids and now in 2020 it isn't hate just rivalry with sports because each of the two state universities are fighting for the relatively small amount of truly talented people in the area.
Bruh I’m at Arkansas and people care more about dissing UT Austin than other schools (at least that’s what all the band kids (myself included) prioritize).
2nd most MEANINGFUL part (14:00): Gabi managed to explain all 3 major hand gesture symbols associated with college football in Florida. It's the power of colleged football (loved when you conjugated college earlier in the video). I hope you can appreciate how hilarious and heartwarming your coverage is.
You should do a review of UK football chants. “Hurray Hurrah Mizzou Mizzou” is nothing compared to the lyrical masterpieces composed by Dave, Ian, Frank and Jeff drunk in some northern pub.
So the big thing to know with the SEC and Mizzou is the fact that the SEC is known as the best football conference, so Mizzou being invited into the SEC is a really big thing for them.
no lie you're not wrong (mizzou is my alma mater and i live in como) and when i came here, i was sad that we weren't in the SEC since i grew up in kentucky! this is such a fun video! !

I'm not from America but in like 2011 or so a few people from a high school I sort of went to* made a (rap?) music video for the school's actual official anthem. The music video was just them singing the lyrics in the school lol. *Basically, I was in middle school at that time and was officially a student at a middle school. However, my middle school had an agreement with a high school across the park that some of the middle school's students would have classes at the high school's building because the middle school's building was too small to accommodate all their students. Sometimes, we would be taught by the high school's teachers too. So basically I sort of went to that high school? 🤣 I've only been to my actual middle school's building a few times lol. We were also part of the high school's events, including their anniversary celebrations, where we had to do some dumbass dance 😂
damn, it's CRAZY to see what downtown austin looked like in that video, must've been around 2009ish. i barely recognized it, the skyline looks so empty. i moved to austin in 2016 and that really put it into perspective how much this city has changed in such a short timespan. also s a longhorn alum i'm relieved the song for ours was one of the better ones lol
THIS CHANNEL BLEW THE HELL UP, I found this channel when it was with only 50K subscribers, the massive growth is crazy, and in all honestly Gabi deserves each and ever subscriber.
great vid, i had to watch the one from my college and was like "i know for a fact MINE wasnt this much cringe" (university of oregon) but yeah i think when you have enough hype the for school your quality blinders go on and you're just like "ooh me likey! hey i understood that reference"
My high school used to (probably still does) these like.. Lip sync videos for our city's NHL team and this video filled me with the horror that someone could just... Stumble across the one from my year like a whole decade later. New fear unlocked.
As a southern college football is so huge. I live in Georgia and I’m my city there’s 3 huge college football teams that everyone loves. They are University of Alabama, University of Georgia, and Auburn. Most people I know has one of those shirts in their closet. I’m friends with some people from UGA and Auburn. Also, most of family never went to college let alone one of them. College football is a lifestyle. I’ve been to multiple college football parties and the food is always good.
i was upset to see both of my florida rival schools mentioned, but of course, gabi saved the best college for last. to be fair, i have never heard any of these songs before, but 'knightmare' is going to be on my mind at the next football game for sure.
I love this topic and video since it's so positive and celebrates something hilariously awesome. I love your perspective as a weirdly knowledgeable football connoisseur, child of immigrants, and musical talent.
I didn't go to Mizzou, but I lived in Mizzou's college town for a few years & worked near campus. The sudden flip of going from a rap song to a country song did not surprise me at all! Boys like that still go to that school lmao
The Seminoles "thing" is worse than you think. They're named after a local indigenous community (the Seminoles), and the gesture is supposed to be a "tomahawk chop"
@@srikothur2845 even if you find one community who doesnt mind it, you’re ignoring the rest of the indigenous country saying its not okay. pretty sure this is supposed to mimic the scalping of indigenous people. one person or group can not be the spokesperson for an entire community of people.
@@rosalie5358 jeez just chill honestly, twitter is few clicks away. There truly are some greater problems than one teams idiotic sign language and honestly I do dig you have it rough, personally as a European I feel appalled by the fact that idiots from this side of the world were deuches and bigots, but before you go of I may be white, but MY people (small northeastern country of Europe you never even heard of) never been on the stick, if anything they came after us even before they even knew America's existed.... Gawd it still gives me depression thinking that if not for church dealings of the time I could have grown up in a chill pacifist pagan country 😔😑
A polite fyi that the hand gesture for paper football is often used to represent the University of Miami. Snoop Dogg used it every now and then in music videos. Great video!
BRUH! I was just about to skip the video cuz I wasn't really interested in the subject matter of the video but I'm glad I stayed after seeing your comment. Gabi's music is fire, I love it whenever she makes songs at the end on some of her videos. Thanks Dawg! 😂
As far as I know, the arm chop thing is taken from certain Native American cultures. I forget exactly which ones or what it’s called, but I know I’ve seen that Native Americans have specifically spoken out against its use and said it is cultural appropriation
yeah exactly, it’s super racist. It’s not appropriation though, it’s more of a racist caricature. its supposed to be imitating the tomahawk, and fans of teams who use indigenous mascots use it a lot, which I guess isnt surprising because if youre a fan of a team that uses a racist caricature as a mascot, you wouldn’t have a problem doing a racist hand motion.
@@jordanweaver5967 Gotcha, makes sense. Yeah, I’m not familiar with football like at all, I just knew there was some controversy around it. I watched Men in Tights a lot as a kid, and there’s that scene where they make fun of the chop, so I only found out it was a sports thing when friends at school told me that it came from sports and not from that movie lol
i'm a ucf student and let me tell you, while i have absolutely zero interest in football, the montage of football moments they showed at freshman orientation almost changed me. we were also all forced to learn the chants and choreographed movements for football games, all hundreds of us in that venue, though that may be normal for all colleges. i don't know. but that music video really does not surprise me lol
"this song makes me wanna drink a beer and ride a bull" lmaooooooooooo me when i find one country song i can tolerate. also as someone who lives near University of Florida, they are so wildly angry with fsu, its a whole street party. that whole part had me dead because ive literally witness this kind of stuff lmao
my college town had someone did a remake of black and yellow by wiz kalifa and changed it to blue and yellow around this same time. our schools colors are actually blue and gold- the university was a lil annoyed

@@alliexcx5576 If you have bad eye sight, you cannot become an astronaut. No ifs ands or buts. If you’re not AT LEAST 6’4, you’re gonna struggle and probably not make it in the current NFL I could go on, but my point is, that is objectively not true. Sorry.
@@Werewolf.with.Internet.Access people can get laser eye surgery, and idk where you got the impression you need to be 6’4 for nfl because footballers come in all shapes and sizes

@@ghrasta. not everyone can get laser eye surgery, for one, it doesn't fix every eye problem, but also, literally not everyone can be anything they want. Disability, money, lack of social connections, or bad luck can keep people out of a ton of things or just limit them overall, obviously this doesn't mean we shouldn't teach children they should go for their dreams and pursue their talents, but backup plans are important.
9:55 this low key sounds like kings and queens from 30 seconds to mars and the song was still popular during the 2012 too. looks like someone has been a 30stm fan and took inspiration from that song. i also loved gabi's comment that sounds like a worship song, it is a hype up song to raise someone's spirit
The texan longhorn song is actually played through the speakers at the football games. Also, my brother dressed up as Applewhite for Halloween one year and got so much candy
I think I just simply could not ever love school period let alone enough to embarrass myself like this. Like baby you're paying this school thousands of dollars you don't need to do this.
At some point you should check out one of Clemson's hype songs from this time called "Death Valley" by Chop Dezol. The first verse starts "I'm an animal with stripes like a tiger," which becomes less comprehensible the more you think about it.
I am from Texas and just as baffled over the UT vs A&M feud. My family was never that into any sports so the first time someone asked me if I was a Longhorn or an Aggie I had no idea what that meant
I go to Virginia Tech and part of our official fight song is “determined now to win or die” so I’m not even surprised SEC is that hardcore lmao. I AM surprised that you didn’t cover a fan song for LSU, though
16:01 just so everyone knows, do not use the bed of your pickup as a makeshift pool it’s horrifically bad for it. Water weighs 8 lbs per gallon and all that water and the weight of the people in it can seriously damage your truck.
At this point, I legit chill with you for hours everyday. Never thought of commenting, dont know why! But yeah, here I am, a big hello 👋🏻 I like your tattoos and garlic pod earrings xD
Absolutely loved you singing Django's Longhorn Banger. You could have given the Seminole song a little bit more cred. I bet you could write a better song about the Tomahawk Chop or whatever you decide to call it.
The pushing up glasses that aren’t there reminded me of then I cut my emo hair and still shook my head to brush it to the side. Even tho it wasn’t there.
I was a student at Mizzou when that song came out. Thanks for unlocking a memory that I thought I had permanently blocked out. I remember one time someone tried playing the song at a party and it lasted maybe ten seconds before multiple jumped into change it.
Also, people used Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa as a hype song for Mizzou, which always seemed odd as the song is specifically about the Pittsburgh Steelers and our colors were Black and Gold not yellow
