When I was in college that’s all there was. People who took one class in nursing is all of a sudden a doctor. They think college is a qualification and that these glorified high school classes make them an expert in something they have only spent time learning facts and have done zero research on any subjects (I mean actual research with data and sampling). These kids think that they can vote and write legislation on a topic they know nothing about. Then when gun violence continues because they’re too busy banning “barrel shrouds” they will continue to ban what they disagree with or mandate what they think is best for someone else. They’ve never had anything bad happen in their life so they assume the world is unicorns and rainbows. Not only that they don’t understand the basics of laws and jurisdiction and how our government works. The constitution is above all legislation. The biggest problem with our government is young people get a bachelors in politics so they think they know what they’re doing and they don’t understand the ramifications of legislation and the loopholes they can cause for the government.

Have taught for 21 years, as a college professor for the last 9 years. I teach history and US government. The ignorance of these children is shocking, but not surprising. I am in the top 15% of all Social Studies teachers. I am in Ohio. Here, high school students can take college courses for dual credit. I had a student a few years ago, who was writing a research paper for me, on the Civil War. She asked the SENIOR High School Social Studies teacher at her high school for help. He said he could not help her because HE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE CIVIL WAR! This is the level of ignorance our schools now turn out. We are doomed, as a society, if this goes on. Even the young teachers are stupid.

And he had do ALL of that at least TWICE in ONE MINUTE. They were called Minutemen because they answered the Call To Arms within a MINUTE of being notified and called to action. There was no pre-packaged powder charges like you see with today percussion rifles, nor did they have percussion caps back then. Back then the musket of choice was the Brown Bess...cutting edge technology at the time. The barrels weren't even RIFLED (spiral grooves in the bore) until the middle of the Civil War with the introduction of the Minie Ball ...the first conical bullet following shortly thereafter.

I live in Ohio and we have been hunting deer with shotguns loaded with slugs forever. I can tell you right now, that the one woman @ 0:38 has no idea what she is talking about when it comes to shotguns. A slug from a 12 gauge shotgun has way more power than a .223 or 5.56 round coming from an AR15, or any other type of weapon designed to fire these rounds. They are not even in the same ballpark. The .223 or 5.56x45mm rounds have an average speed of 3,148 feet per second and a average energy of 1,254 foot pounds. The average 12 gauge shotgun slug has an average speed of only 1,800 feet per second but it has an average energy of 3,100 foot pounds. As you can see, an 12 gauge shotgun shooting slugs, is way more powerful than your average small arms rifle. Before anyone tries to say she was talking about using birdshot, the military or police would not use birdshot for their weapons so why should we. They use #4 buckshot up to 00-buckshot. 00-buckshot has an average energy of 1,547 foot pounds. I can get a 12 gauge shotgun in semi-automatic also. She doesn't have a leg to stand on with her argument.

As a retired military man, I was taught that my assault rifle had the distinctive characteristics of selective fire, meaning semi auto or automatic burst. Since automatic weapons are heavily regulated, few people actually own an assault rifle.
@@scottmcdonald3207 the AR platform isn’t a weapon of war because it was never used by the military. The M16 and later the M4 and other variants are military specific. They look the same/similar and that’s it. The commenter is correct in the term that his issues rifle was select fire. Civilians only are legally allowed to own semi automatic rifle platforms (as well as bolt action of course). In very few instances can you be a civilian and own an automatic or select fire rifle platform.

Definitely trade school. Theres a shortage of skilled workers in HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electricians, mechanics, etc. When I graduated high school (c/o 90) the big push for college had started and parents were steered away from encouraging their children to go into a trade. Now those fields are making anywhere from $30-60 an hour because there is such a high demand. OR, if you do decide to go back to college, pick a course study you can do online.
I went to trade school (technical school) in my mid 20’s. Then worked in surgery, as a scrub tech and 1st assistant, for 18 years. I needed to finish high school and go to college as much as I needed to drill a hole in my forehead. Plus, I was a single parent through it all. Trade school or even a 2 year community college...That’s the way to go brother!!
Depends on what you want to do. Most colleges have YAF, YAL, or College Republican student organizations so you wouldn’t be alone. It’s not as bad in that regard and that shouldn’t really be the deciding factor. Cost should be your main concern. If you want to go back, a cheap mid to low tier state school is just as good as an Ivy League for most things.

They’ll look at a Ar-15 and claim it’s a military grade weapon which yes, while it is very similar to the m4 in terms of overall design and appearance, functions quite a bit differently. When I lived in California, the politicians decided that any rifle or shotgun that had a pistol grip was an assault weapon. So by liberal standards, I have an Assault Electric Drill and an Assault Hacksaw.

These people are clueless. An actual assault weapon can be a screwdriver, a knife, a hammer, a piece of board, a saw blade, a fork, a shoe, and does NOT have to be a firearm.
I run a mid-size company. I am present at every hire of a prospective employee. We hire ONLY from within, ex-military, trade school or skilled workers. I will NEVER hire a college graduate, not even for management. We rather hire someone who can work his or her way from the bottom up, and it’s working out fine.

I am completely pro-gun and pro AR, but the AR15 was indeed originally designed with military use in mind. Yes, it was sold as a varmint rifle and was not as dangerous in its civilian form. But there were design considerations for being a military rifle such as select fire and its caliber choice.
Technically it was the AR10 that was designed for military use and the barrel split during testing. The down-scaled AR15 was then later tested as the XM16E1 (if I remember correctly. Could be wrong.)
