He's a great player. People shouldn't be that afraid to lose, and everyone is capable of losing a set to Chunky, or even people you would consider "far worse". Maybe if they weren't the lower tier characters would get explored more. The less people that play a character, the worst it ends up at the end of the game's life. A lot of those characters could be amazing, but the skill pool is so small because so few people play them and part of it is people being afraid to lose, so don't act like it's a permanent stain upon someone's reputation for losing a set to the best DK. Maybe light is a better player, but the gap isn't that big. The small gap there is means A LOT because it's their job and every inch counts, but if this was like back in the day just hanging out with your friends, it wouldn't mean that much.

Chunky has taken sets off multiple top players. Its not really a surprise or an embarrassing moment if top players lose to him.

@@psyk1k986 that was not at all a jab to chunky or his skill level at all. I mean if anything, this is the best loss in his career because he's fighting all odds. He is making a mid tier character, at best, work in a tournament setting, and I think even light fans were cheering him on. I think it's just a meme of light losing to heavy low tiers. Like when light lost to nairo's Ganon, Nairo was a better player than light. He was 4th in the US, so it wasn't a jab who light lost to. It was mainly that it was his Ganon. Honestly if chunky played a top tier character, I'm sure his results would be top 15 easy. He's a mad man who's not afraid of anything, and created the best set in the tournament

nah ppl just overrate fox vs heavies. light has lost to bowser, ganon, kazuya. it's classic grappler v rushdown fox gets in easily but you don't want to get in against heavies you want to keep them out and fox lacks anti-approach tools.

In Ult, whenever you perform a directional airdodge, you move away from the direction you input for a very brief moment before actually moving in the direction you input. This actually matters offstage when you’re airdodging away from the blastzone, since that brief jerk backwards can actually kill you, where a double jump from most characters would not have the same result.

Heavies absolutely destroy lower level players but a monkey with the strength, range, and run speed of DK cannot actually be good without overwhelming the game That said, it would be a hella better world if DK, Incin, Bowser were top 3 instead of Steve, GnW, Sonic, or whatever it is rn

@@The_SOB_II Rivals of Aether is extremely well balanced and it has heavies making up a sizeable portion of its roster. I don't think there's an innate problem where they'll either be too good or weak, Nintendo just doesn't care that much to try and balance the game. Heavies aside it's embarrassing how much worse characters like Kirby, Zelda, Robin, Falco, Isabelle, etc. are compared to the top/high tiers.

@@100organicfreshmemes5true enough , but imo they're quite different games. Rivals is balanced around being a competitive fighter, Smash is built around being friendly for kids. I'm not of the opinion that they needed to balance it for kids, because kids are kids, but that's what they did.

@@The_SOB_II I wouldn't say they're that different, Rivals is explicitly inspired by Smash to the point there are notable similarities between characters. I agree on the balancing though, even balancing it around kids you had some people complaining about heavies like K. Rool who are just noob stompers. Lo and behold even after some nice buffs K. Rool is a low tier.

This is like +1 at best. I thought this sh*t was +2, but donkey kong advantage state is literally just as good as fox's. The only difference is the amount of time in advantage state, which ends in the stock anyway. Fox just edges out because he slightly wins neutral. But DK tilts close the gap a little

Just proof that chunky made him work for it. It's not a good matchup for DK by any means, but it's actually surprisingly hard for Fox too. DK can just make Fox explode, particularly off-stage or on the ledge. I actually suspected this could be a tough draw for Light.

@sebastiansullivan4770 on paper yes fox wins without question. But in practice you have to basically play perfect. And chunky Kong is a THREAT. His DK defies what DK is supposed to do. From paper to practice is different. Otherwise everyone would main marth and kill their opponents at 38% at ledge consistently. Top players respect chunky Kong. Also DK kills early. And fox dies early.
