Illustrated in this video are the requirements for 1) particles to collide in order to react, 2) for collisions to have some minimum of speed in order to react, and 3) for collisions to occur at the correct orientation in order to react.

Very easy and understandable explanation of this theory, thank you. My questions are 1. If the kinetic energy is too high and the Chlorine Molecules impact each-other could it result in a fragmentation of the molecules? And would this disperse nuclear energy almost like fission? And 2 Why is it just Chlorine that can interact this way of colliding and connecting? Wouldn’t this ‘formula’ be applicable to other molecules?

Good questions. 1) yes, at very high speed, the force of the collision could result in the breaking of all bonds and possibly some plasma. To get a nuclear interaction would require speed approaching the speed of light, which would require a particle accelerator, and likely either fission or fusion could result. 2) Yes this is applicable to all reactions, I was just using Cl + NOCl as an example reaction.

can you please make a video showing me where exactly does the energy come from when a molecule like hidrocarbon breaks/burns also i have a question about iron oxides what happens for this to form does the iron loses its energy or what happens,can the process be reversed if energy is given back ? ,and most important of all how can the same atom have different numbers of eletrons on its last valency shell,i was watching a video about lewis structures and in one example f2o3 iron had 3 electrons on its last valency shell and the other one f3o4 one of the irons had only 2 electrons on its valency WTF ? how does that all work,its twisting my mind around

Many reactions are reversible and that includes the direction of energy coming in or going out. Many metals can have more than one ion charge. Iron is stable with both a 2+ and a 3+ charge. The 3+ is the more stable ion. This is due to the stability of the remaining electrons. Often there is more than one specific electron energy arrangement that will confer stability to an ion, and those are the elements that can have more than one charge. YES! The correct chemical term for this is 'wack-a-particle'. (Or 'whack a particle?') Often confused with the well-known chemist's pastime of whack-a-mole. 😁
