Was watching this sat outside the Pantheon in Rome via the restaurant TVs. Sooooo many Colombians were sat around and me and my girlfriend seemed to be the only English people. Even the Italian waiters were supporting Colombia. It was a funny atmosphere. When we won we celebrated with Ice Cream and a nice walk to the Trevi Fountain.

I do love watching penalty shoot-outs ! So many over the decades, so many "top" players have missed, sometimes their team still wins...sometimes not. Some penalties go in that if the keeper had gone the other way / stood their ground they may well have saved . I know all penalties that go in count equally...but the very best are those where the keeper goes the right way but still cannot stop them due to speed/placement .....

Ese partido parecía que Colombia sería arrasado por Inglaterra pero no, se dejaron la piel y estuvieron cerca de lograrlo. En aquel tiempo estaba saliendo con una colombiana y recuerdo que le dije que Colombia no pasaría de fase de grupos; el día del 3-0 a Polonia me mandó mensaje para recordarme de la victoria y lo bien que jugó su selección y, cuando los eliminaron, la llamé para que escuche como el comentarista decía: "Ha caído Colombia eliminada en penales" jajajan qué bonitos recuerdos, cuando me despedía de la juventud para asumir las responsabilidades de la vida adulta.

Partido muy sufrido donde ambos equipos dejaron mucho que desear con su fútbol. Inglaterra solo pudo marcar de penal y Colombia solo pudo marcar porque Yerry Mina fue nuestro ángel de la guarda ese mundial. Ambos equipos jugaron muy rastreros y un juego muy físico donde se incomodaron hasta el hastío. La tanda de penaltis fue un justo castigo donde el fútbol se decantó por Inglaterra. Los 3 leones rompieron su racha de perder en penaltis y Colombia cerró un proceso histórico sin perder el partido jugándole a un equipo europeo de a igual.
