The abortion bans are exclusively religious; there may be a secondary argument based on the idea that the youth has no sense of discipline and banning access to abortion on demand helps that by not allowing them to murder children at an early age. However, while I agree it shouldn't be normalized, I personally would be okay with just limiting access to it except in emergency cases. The main thing pro-life people wanted to stop was people using abortion as birth control and late trimester abortions.
