This cartoon used to frighten me when I was a kid. My mom always told me that I'd cry hysterically whenever I saw it. Years later, I still get a little teary, seeing it again, especially when the robins are preparing to bury the baby. :(
Same! I had this exact VHS as a kid. I was just talking to someone about this exact cartoon, and have been trying to find it myself. Just stumbled on this! It's such a sad cartoon, but I love it.
It's totally amazing to me that such a simple media has the power to demonstrate good and evil, joy and pain in such stark and unmistakable terms. Fantastic work really and so basic to the core of what we believe is right or wrong. Thanks for sharing this piece of art. I've never seen it before, but I won't soon forget it. :)
GAH! I've been watching old cartoons all stinkin day long, looking for THIS one. Dont get me wrong, it was great looking at all the rest but I FOUND IT FINALLY!!

I remember this cartoon, watching it on our b&w TV over 45 years ago. I get tears forming every time the boy cries in thankfulness to God for bringing the bird back to life. But Betty Boop and Pudgy in "Little Nobody" gets my vote as the greatest and most heProxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0 t-warming cartoon
I'm so glad I found this it makes me think of all the old cartoons and the VHS I had with this cartoon and the one when the mice were about to eat the cat I felt soo bad for the little bird and the cat

I remember that one. Poor Opey was so mortified! But he redeemed himself by taking in the baby birds and raising them until they are old enough to fly and live on their own.
I am looking for a cartoon with a little girl who had a gun and accidentally shot a bird. I had it on VHS and my granddaughter loved it. She now has a daughter and I would like for her to see it. Have looked but unable to find it online.
