But that’s another reason people thought Deion was there for the long haul. Because it seems like he cared about getting Jackson and HBCU schools more money to improve their infrastructure. Deion put himself out there. And that’s why people was feeling the way they was. If Deion just came there and been a coach. No would be saying anything about him leaving. But that’s not the case. He made it seem like he was on a mission from god. Not just to coach, but to help change the landscape of HBCU football.
@Gary Martin Live 2.0 As a D1 athlete, these HBCU don't have money because their are too many people with their hand in the cookie Jar. Yes this is a problem at all Universities, but HBCU can't afford that. Although myself qnd all of my brothers were recruited by power 5 schools we each took a visit to 1 HBCU like our mother ask. The facilities at HBCU's are garbage. When my brothers and I took our official visits it was like going to hell. First off weight rooms were rusty and raggedy, locker rooms were old worn and had MOLD EVERYWHERE. Fields and arenas were old and worn down haven't had renovation in decades, literally smelled raw sewedge(UAPB, JSU, and Grambling), but they claimed at UAPB it was because of the paper mill down the road. It was trash. Then we go to Texas, UCLA, Oregon, Alabama, Auburn, Texas Tech, University of Arkansas and its like going to heaven. Black people need to invest in what they believe in and stop talking about it and be about it

JSU practice field literally had raw sewedge coming up and when it rained they had to practice at a local high school, Prime got cooperation from large corporations to buy a new turf field, improved dirty, nasty, moldy, failing facilities, and got new jerseys with last names on the back. Also improved weight room. These HBCU weight/training rooms look worse than most high schools. The fact you would even try to belittle what he has done by saying it was for a tax break is exactly why black people are in the predicament we are in now... Deion can create probably at 20Million economic impact per year so paying him 5 million is no problem. By my math he is basically paying his own salary. He made 20 million for City of Jackson, JSU and Mississippi, but they wouldn't pay him. Really!!!!!!

Deion caused thousands of youth to consider HBCU S for not only sports but academics. HBCU Graduates 4 times per students enrolled percentage wise than predominantly white colleges. Based on the increased attendance, TV exposure the value of the attention on HBCUs he caused collectively is well over 1 billion $ impact alone if you count direct and indirectly effected income channels this year alone. Residually to the HBCUS, increase tuition intake and contribution to the black economy from the graduates would have add billions of dollars more. Deion leaving is liken to Thurgood Marshall leaving the NAACP, were he was effective in winning several landmark decision to him joining the US supreme court, were his votes and opinions were out numbered and nullified. If Deion had stayed he would have built a team to complete in the national championship BCS were Black folks could have won, if he won. If he wins at Colorado, Deion wins.. who cares. America would have changed in 10 years. Deion could have became governor of Mississippi, been first or second to Baraka in most significant contributors to changing our national brand as a people. Living outside the usa, I would stream Jackson states game and watch there news feeds daily, though a Morehouse alum. It was a Black thang, not a Deion thing. Bro. No he can’t leave anytime he want. If he leave after the first year he would owe Colorado 15 mill, second year 10 mill, third year 8 mill, and 5 mill the 4th year. So he basically locked in until his contract up.

Maybe some people on here don't understand how a contract works,he signed and they don't have to pay him unless it was a year to year deal with incentives if not they don't have to pay him until the end of his contract it's almost the same type of contract as a construction loan on a home,if you get the money and put it in an escrow account and the builder an I sign a contract for him to have my house completed in 4 months then it's my choice to pay him once every month unless it's in the contract so we don't know what kind of contract Prime sign but what I do know is he signed one securing that coaching job so no one else could get it because he signed for no money so he is working on credit until he paid and that on him,I hope he's smart enough to get something up front if it's only 25 or 35%
We (JSU Alumni) are definitely upset with the way things were handled but again no one is upset about him elevating himself cause you’ll be a fool to not take “$5M” . You just can’t come and make a promise on national TV and say God brought you here to change things (long term) but you had a short term plan that negated what you promised .
