Today I'm going to show you how to make these gorgeous pink geode bath bombs!!! Stay tuned until the end bc I am going to show you the secret to making your salts reflect light just like real crystals!!!!
SALTS: Color salt (Epsom salt) using a few drops of liquid colorant at a time. Rub the salt between hands to make sure the salt is even coated & colored. Then add sparkling or metallic mica.
RECIPE: 2 cups baking soda, 1 cup citric acid, 1/2 cup corn starch, 15 milliliters fragrance oil, 10 milliliters polysorbate 80, 5 milliliters cocamidopropyl betaine (or a different surfactant). Sieve dry ingredients together. In a small cup, whisk wet ingredients together. Add wet to dry very slowly while whisking (the slower the better)! Then rub mix between hands to ensure ingredients are thoroughly & evenly incorporated. ** Squeeze mixture; it should stay together to form a solid clump! OPTIONAL: Divide batch & add color to each. MOLDING: Fill mold, pack it, & place more loose mix on top. Repeat for other half. ** If you’re making a multi colored bomb, assemble the colors just like a nesting doll. Smoosh 2 sides firmly together until both molds touch all the way around. Tap both sides with spoon to release bomb. Dry for 24 hours. PAINTING RIM: Add alcohol & mica to a small cup & swirl it around to mix. Use small brush to paint the very edge/rim of geode. GLUE: melt equal parts of coconut oil & soap base. The "glue" dries really fast so put a little bit at a time then cover the area with salt, pushing the salt in the glue each time. Do this until the entire surface is covered. SECRET TO SPARKLE: All of these glitters together mimic light passing thru crystals or diamonds, reflecting a rainbow light color pattern. These didn’t come out how I expected them to, but they came out nice. The peach color was my favorite but I think it was bc of the additional gold mica playing off the blossom mica that just made it extra sparkly.
