Four very talented musicians giving it their all ! A very under-rated band, and it's a great shame they went unnoticed at a time when punk dominated the scene. The two albums Wardance and Electric Savage sound fantastic even now. Love it!
Great technique aside, I always loved Gary Moore for his soulfulness, you can really see that he puts his heart into every note. I still have the original 3 vinyl LPs from this group and as soon as they were available I got them on CD and they are still on my mp3 player... Two other great bands of the same era I'd recommend, if you're not familiar with them already, are Camel from England and Focus from Holland (Although slightly more prog-rock than jazz-rock... Great stuff either way).
@@micowikstrom7182 above and beyond Phil and more like Carl Palmer & Bill Bruford (Europe side) Tony Williams & Billy Cobham (North American side). Phil Collins watered down his skills as he progressed, concentrating on 'hits' just like Eric Clapton did! PEACE!!!
Don Airey and Gary Moore are masters of the music and great source of inspiration for many musicians.
This is brilliant. I can remember the advert in NME for a "brilliant keyboard player" to join Colosseum II. They certainly got one! Coupled with the fantastic Gary Moore and John Mole and John Hisemann this was some lineup. I saw them at Loughborough Town Hall of all places. Great music pity it only lasted 3 albums.
Thanks for this great post !!!!!!!! Awesome cut from 'Electris Savage'. Love Airey's solo ! GM too !!! Look for the 2 of them together in Gary's band (any "Still Got the Blues" vids, for instance). Thanks again ! Peace:-)
@riffolaman Totally in agreement. It was the scary shred-meister of the seventies and early 80s that I loved, because he always totally owned the *tune* underneath while he freaked out. He never really had the sensibilities of a true blues player, but was up there with the true, true greats of rock. I will miss him.
@riffolaman - I agree. I was blown away by his work with Colosseum ll as it was far more sophisticated than most stuff out at the time. To me. this was his best work.
this great bands of passed times throws the modern lully guitar mess like foo figthers etc in every corner that you can find.. a pity that you never hear this kind of music now this time
@@charlottevictoria.hubbard7472 On the three last DP albums including the very new one , he and Morse does a lot of great tunes, he did some great thing together with Blackmore too in Rainbow
I liked Thin Lizzy well enough but was never very charitable about Moore's calling himself a blues guitarist in his solo career; but oh, my freakin' word, this stuff is the shizznit. I just learned about this band this very day. Moore gave guys like Jeff Beck and Al DiMeola a run for their money in this band.
OMFG.. where did you get this , this is gold dust!!!!! Do you have the rest of the performance????..One other question.... Is this off of the , or copy of, the master VT.. coz I know that if you had this off the TV it would have ended at the fade to black?
haha, He kinda looks like it yes but he is actually 30 years old on this video (he was born in 1948). He still got the face of a teenager today only with grey hair. Great keyboard player, one of the best. Kinda underrated too.
I get annoyed with him being referred to as a blues player. His fault though. Really, he reinvented himself as such in about 1990 and it was his most successful period. I still prefer his insane overplaying. God, that tone and feel made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Loved his voice too.
