Another wonderful video Col, and thanks for sharing. Would you please let me know which color scheme would work the best for a logo design? In advance, Thanks Sir.
Hey Mayur, You know, I don't actually have many books on colour theory. My knowledge comes from various courses and articles. The two books that I have are: Color Psychology and Color Therapy by Faber Birren and Color Works by Eddie Opara and John Cantwell. Hope that helps.
Spent most of the day watching many of your videos. Trying to build my first website and brand by myself as a beginner and want to get it right. You know what your'e talking about and should make a course on branding, graphics, logo, design. Teach the fundamentals and also all the technical parts of it too (which software to use and exactly how to use them). I would be happy to pay money if the course could make me from a beginner to an expert in these areas. The YT videos are very helpful but does not teach the technical parts, and not in an orderly manner.
Hi Yafeh, There are already a lot of paid courses like that out there. I could do something like that but it would take a lot of time and energy for me to do that. I don't have a large team of staff and so I need to focus on work for my clients and I produce RU-vid videos when I get the time. It may be something I do in the future, but right now, it isn't something that I could commit to. Thank you for your comments on the channel and I'm glad that you are finding the videos that I do have, useful.
Hi, how does the triadic colour scheme compare to the complementary colour scheme and the analogous colour scheme regarding contrast? Thanks. Paola from Italy
I think if you are a small, new business then it may very well be hard to get client's who would be willing to spend that sort of budget with you. Generally, businesses with budgets like that are more likely to spend it with a larger established agency as they feel that their money is in safer hands. I'm not saying that is the case though, because I know of solo designers who do an awesome job and I also know large agencies that are terrible. It really comes down to you showing your expertise and attracting those types of clients to you. This is obviously going to involve them liking your artistic style and designs, but sometimes more importantly they will want to see you express your knowledge in other ways. That can be through blogging, podcasting or videos. Since I started blogging and doing my videos, I have noticed that more of the clients who contact me actually value design as an investment in their business, whereas before, it was more of a cost. It is that shift in thinking where you will attract clients who are willing to spend more money because they see it as being beneficial to their business in the longer term. I hope that helps.
Pixels Ink ok thanks for your answer. The reason why I asked you this question is because I was taking a look at your website and I saw your Logo and Brand Design Packages and I was wondering if it's easy for you to find those kind of clients.
In short, no, it isn't easy, but you can put things in place that mean those clients that do contact you are more likely to buy from you and use your services. I don't actively go searching for clients, they mostly contact me. I don't use any form of advertising other than the blogs and videos I produce, and those are there to educate rather than sell my services. What I can say is that by having pricing on my website it does stop me getting a lot of time taken up by clients who don't have that sort of budget. The majority of clients who do contact me have seen that pricing and at that point it is more about whether I am the right fit for them.
