Thank you! Your video has inspired me to write a list of how I want my brand to be perceived and through a series of scholastic methods like crossing off what doesn't communicate what I am about and narrowing it down to 3 things, I now have 2 color palates to consider. Appreciate the help- wish me luck!

HI! This was a wonderful video!! Looking forword to watch the others!! What would you say about soft pink, gray and turquoise? Thanks!!
@RockYourBrand
@RockYourBrand 7 лет назад
Hey Sarah, Pink and grey definitely work together. Adding in turquoise I'd maybe do sparingly as an accent colour. I'm going to presume you are thinking of soft, pastel versions of those 3 colours, that would work best. Generally, I'd imagine seeing that sort of colour palette used to promote crafts or something targetted at more of a female audience. I'm not one that believes in pink for a girl, blue for a boy but the majority at large still do.

It's so interesting to see the emotions that we associate with different colors. There are both pros and cons to every color. I wonder what kind of emotions are associated with the color pink. Just asking for a friend :)

what colors would you choose for plant food personal chef/ catering service brand? any name suggestions? thank you
@RockYourBrand
@RockYourBrand 6 лет назад
Hi Elia, It really depends on whether you want your logo to stand out from other chef/catering brands or fit in with the majority. What to do is do a Google image search using keywords and phrases that you think people would use to search for your business. Look at all of the logos and marketing that come up in the image search results and see if there is a dominant colour that people are using. It may be that there are a few common colours. If you want to fit in, then you can choose colours from the majority that are showing. If you want to stand out, you can choose a colour that isn't being used much. Be careful though, some colours probably aren't a good choice when it comes to portraying a service based around food. As for a name, well that isn't really something that you can pick out of thin air :) Like a logo, it should come from good reasoning and research. If you wanted to hire me for an hour to get help with coming up with a name you can book one of my Power Hour sessions over on my website: pixelsink.com/power-hour. Stay Creative! Col

Awesome video!!! I have a question. I havve a brand in the coding niche. Would you recommend there to go with black and purple/blue?
@RockYourBrand
@RockYourBrand 4 года назад
Hi Theno, What is the feeling/tone that you want the brand to have? Purple tends to be used for luxury/high end products and services and blue gives a sense of calmness and security. If that is the tone you would like to have, the go for it :)

I wish I would've seen this video before. I would've shown it to some ppl whom I was trying to describe how someone's favorite color can describe their personalities and also trigger certain emotions. Sometimes its hard to explain, some can't seem to wrap their head around it, that what you talk about for each color is really common. :] Now, if someone can explain to me how someone can hear colors like "orange" ?!? Lol I think words like warm and cool are enough.

What emotions would you say grey evokes? I find it goes so well with almost any colour, as long as its just the two colours. Definitely a favourite of mine.
@RockYourBrand
@RockYourBrand 7 лет назад
I agree with you. Grey can work well with a lot of colours and balance well. It can help balance a palette where maybe the other colour is quite intense, like a magenta pink, or lime green. I also find it has quite a calming effect.

grey is a neutral colour and the best part of grey is that it highlights the other colours. the best example is available in the same video above! the presenter showed each colour in circles when he spoke about them and u can notice that all the circles that carry the colours are connected to each other by a central structure which is a combination of a big circle and lines, said so that central structure is in Grey! if it had been some other colour it would have dominated in its appearance a bit more. here grey plays the second role to the other colours and it is less visible to the eye. acts as a perfect neutral or supporting colour in the above video. this is just one case where grey can be used. there can be other areas of applications for it.

Amazing video 😀 should I base my colour on the people I want to attract or who I am as a person. My business is built around women and I'm very excitable so I would love the colour Red on a white back ground. But I'm very healthy and part of my products are organic so should I go for green? And green is my favourite colour. Thanks marv
@RockYourBrand
@RockYourBrand 5 лет назад
Hey Marv, my advice would be to use colours that reflect your service and are suitable for your target audience. When it comes to choosing brand colours, we very often have to put our own personal preferences to the side and choose colours that work towards an objective.

So now that a color has both Positive and Negative aspects attached with it, how do I actually pick a color because which ever color I pick, it has a negative aspect attached to it. How do I find a balance between the positive and negative
@RockYourBrand
@RockYourBrand 6 лет назад
The way you push the positive aspect is in combination with the rest of your brand messaging. Don't think of colour in isolation. For example, I use red in my branding. That could be seen as danger or stop. But I push my brand as exciting and powerful through my choice of words and images in my branding.

Ronald Rademaker Copper seems rustic Antique Classy That's all I get from it I Guess the "negative" would be Old Outdated Dirty Machine like Don't know about the silver and gold To me that makes things look cheap And try hard But I don't know

What about metallics like Gold?
@RockYourBrand
@RockYourBrand 3 года назад
Metallics like gold and silver will often be used to give a sense of luxury and extravagance, but you can also get metallics in other colours too which can be used to give a magical or ethereal feel.

What colors should you use if your main customers are 12 years old?😅
@RockYourBrand
@RockYourBrand 5 лет назад
haha, well, my first instinct would be to say bright colours. But, as 12-year-olds are soon going to be teenagers, they may want a bit more sophistication :)
@teroblepuns
@teroblepuns 5 лет назад
Looking at how vivid Splatoon is with its flashy colours, I would say get some complementary ones: goo.gl/fPneGT You could tone it down a bit and make it less flashy and easy to read but keep the interesting colours there. (The Splatoon colours are just for reference)
@teroblepuns
@teroblepuns 5 лет назад
I can also recommend yellow - orange - red colours as they are as vivid and exciting as 12 year old, hyped children. Nintendo (red), Nickelodeon (orange), McDonald's (yellow), LEGO (red), Fanta (orange) are great examples. thelogocompany.net/blog/infographics/psychology-color-logo-design/
