One of the best things I've learned from you is colour mixing - and I love to document them just as you have here. Creating a catalogue of potential colour combinations is incredibly inspirational.
what a great lesson. color mixing is so relaxing. creating neutrals has not been on my radar. i have created a white by mixing dabs of the three primaries in. I think i'll go mix colors!
Thanks, I was trying to get neutrals today and kept thinking, I saved a post by Louise the other day that I need to watch! Really lovely. I’m using brights and need the soothing neutrals. Like you demonstrated so well.
Your demos are so straight-forward and I love that no matter what, they will all harmonize so there is no wrong color - muddy or otherwise. I was wondering what happened during the video though. You were showing how you mix all the neutrals but then quickly the video went to you marking the primaries on a sketchbook with paint and crayons and explaining contrast so I became a bit confused. Was the video supposed to do that? Thank you! On second thought, I went back to watch the video to the end and now understand why you did that. :)
Miss Louise, that was a succinct and brilliant demonstration! I have two questions: is it better to use single pigment colors for one's basic primaries? And/or will using transparent primaries (single pigment or not) make better mixed colors? Patricia over at PM Artist Studio highly recommended this video, and I see why! Deb
There is no such thing as better or worse - there is only what you love and what you prefer. Once you understand this, you will be on your way as an artist x
I'm a third of the way through doing #100colourstudies for the 100 day project and this is more than helpful to help me move forward, thank you Louise!
