This is why I stick with you, Louise. You tell us to do us, not you or anyone else. I've done some of the other free courses by artists that you've recommended, but I just haven't felt the connection. There's just something about the way you teach your courses - I love being in Your Art Tribe!

Best quote every Louise: Finding your own way requires using materials for no other reason than to lean. My personal last hurdle. Sitting here laughing at myself. Yes, a childhood issue, “If you use the paint up, there isn’t any more.” It was a true statement then. It’s not true anymore. Thank you to you and your entire team! A creative force of nature.

And yet, I bet if you were taught Home Economics as a kid as I was, and your scones didn’t work out, you were encouraged to try again. No one ever told me that art was something I could develop over time. I really felt I was expected to pick up a pen/ brush and show some skill from the get go. And I didn’t, so I was told I couldn’t do it. And it wasn’t true.

Thank you Louise, so much for helping to organise all those thoughts that I have whizzing around in my head. How do I start, Can I really do abstract art - is it me? Who is me? How do I paint like me? I fell I have now "landed" somewhere. I'm now on your waiting list for your September class (fingers crossed!). But in the meantime you have helped with your idea of picking an achievable aim for 1 month. And just work on that. You're a real star, and super generous with your knowledge, ideas and thoughts. Thank you so much. Susie

I am so happy to find you Louise. I live in New Zealand. I will be looking into joining one of your online courses. I do view making Art as a way to release my creative drive and also relieve stress/depression. You definitely teach in a style that resonates with me. Thank you so much for making these videos, they help me to overcome Imposter Syndrome and the negative inner voice (i can't draw,definitely not in a realist way anyway), but i know Art is not just about making photo realistic portraits❤

Since joining Find Your Joy, 2021, I've been on a whirlwind tour of myself and what makes me spark up. I've been having so much fun. Now as a member of the Art Tribe, I can pick and choose classes and challenges and hear from all the generous people who give of themselves. And we all encourage each other. Thanks, Louise and your terrific staff.

Thank you so much for this video! I am 76 and so looking forward to finding my way in art. My mom and aunt were wonderful artists...I never tried beyond stick people...always believed I didn't have a gift other than music and writing. My daughter and Grands are all artistic and creative. My turn now. 💖

I listen to music before I paint abstracts. The Doors, John Coltrane. It makes me think deeper. It's hard to explain.

I love the Doors! I have also listened listened to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin before painting. A bit late with my reply I know but...better late than never

Thought I’d have lunch and listen/watch this video .. lunch had to wait as I was so engrossed with what you were saying. You make such a lot of sense. I’m not a painter but what you talk about is so applicable to any form of creativity. Thanks Louise, now back to lunch,

You touched very important topic. Many artist provide courses with very basic information.They do not like to share their art secrets,and usually says "just find your own style"... This is very disappointing because from your tutor you expect tutorials... Especially when you pay for it. On some channels is lots of different words(casual chatting about everything other than art)with years of this same activity (example,collage ). Thank you so much for great tips!!! 🙏🙏🙏😊👏

You always make so much sense. Thank you. I like the idea of setting a goal, setting an intention I've come to the conclusion that I need something to keep my butterfly brain focused. This intentional learning is the way forward for me. X

I really learned a lot from your free course and you tube. I made one mistake on trying one class that ended up being a follow as they do and I hated it. My very first art lesson was copy of masters and I learned only mechanics. Now, with you and cvp, I am back on track. Now 8 am digesting for awhile. I recommend you as a teacher.

Loving your videos. When you explained how an art course messed with your mind (my words) and left you at a loss as to how to proceed, I thought I'm not alone! The smallest things can trip me up. I took a class about keeping a sketchbook that said not to sketch first but go straight to ink, another teacher sketches first and then inks. And the sketchbooks weren't sketchbooks at all, but finished works of art in a sketchbook format. I just wanted to learn to sketch/draw. I am years away from finished work of art. Needless to say, I have a bunch of pristine sketchbooks. I have no idea what kind of art I want to make. I don't even know what medium I want to work in. I just sign up for the next shiny course. Some I sign up for because I think " I could do that" and others because I wish I could do that. The classes, at least the ones I finish, have taught me how to use different materials and techniques, so not a waste, ,but I am very disappointed when my finished piece looks like the teachers. Intellectually, I think that eventually I will sit down with my pencil and paints and everything I have learned from all of the classes will come together into something uniquely my own. Am I going about it all wrong?
@ThisPaintingLife
@ThisPaintingLife Год назад
Hi Ronna, I think we all go through the next shiny course/thing syndrome but I would urge you to do is sit down and play. Play and see what you love! And from there you can learn techniques to grow upon what actually speaks to you. Because in the end, art should always be unapologetically you. ♥

If people have not mined themselves why paint. Orson Welles said that he could teach the technique of filmmaking in a few hours no more. The problem is what to do with it.

I personally paint for myself. I know that answer may vary depending on the person but I have no want to paint for others. For me, it gives me freedom to be creative.
