Today i laid it all on the table. I chose to have faith in my rookie ability and i gave my hand the official first tattoo by me. Nerves told me that this could go either way. I gambled on myself having faith in my ability( so new it barley exist) tbh i surprised myself and realized we often cut ourselves shorter than we should. My expectations were on prepare for disappointment level. All said and done i am beyond satisfied and from here on out ill believe in myself responsibly lined with what i know as facts. Im not one to brag but just like when you're child first finds out they can ride without training wheels i now know that it is worth betting on yourself sometimes because you may just learn some things that lead to more passion for the craft and maybe a bit of eagerness to see what you do next time. Its sad that i waited until i was 43 to ballz up and do it. But from here on out i cant think of anything else i want to do with myself. Better late than never.

I started for about 3 month last year using the gun tattoo machines but I’ve just decided to start again but I’m ready to get into it properly now I’ve sat on it for a bit. I decided to invest in the rotary pens as it’s 100% quicker not having to take it all apart etc… I’ve not tried it yet but I am tonight. I’m going to try doing and mixing colours like you’ve shown today. Thankyou I’ll let you know how it went. 😊

Can’t wait to try this technique I’ve been having problems with shading an getting a smooth transition I’ve only done 5 or 6 tattoos now an the black has been the hardest to get solid an smooth with no patchy ares. An the cross hatch I’m goin to try. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that jus like sanding body work to get a smooth even panel. Lol. Thks a lot I was thinking it didn’t want to take bc skin was a bit irritated from line work an having to go over a few times but. Have to try that. Hey, Nathan! I for the life of me can't colour pack... my mentor is getting frustrated and I am also. I do too much skin damage for the amount of saturation I'm getting. I've been told figure 8 motions and go reaaallly slow. It works well for me when packing black. I just need something new to try I suppose 😅 thanks! I learned a lot through your videos
@Tattooing101
@Tattooing101 2 года назад
Color is harder than black and gray. It might be worth sticking to black and gray for a while then when you get super comfortable with it transition to color. You will be much more comfortable with the machine by then and it will be easier. Also use practice skin (reel skin) it enables you to tattoo every day and you will pick it faster. Consistency is the key to success

Thanks a lot Nathan for the video. I agree, I don't like that technique at all lol. I have tattoos that have a regular whip shading gradient into my skin tone and it looks smooth and totally normal. Why would you use a "skin" toned ink when everyone's skin tones are completely different?? Seems like a bizarre choice

Yeah it will. But it won’t look as bright when healed. The pigment in the clients skin will over power the foundation flesh. Still works but you won’t get as much contrast as you do on someone who has pale skin

Foundation flesh lighten the colour without changing vibrancy and it ages better. Yes you can use white but it will make the colour muted (this can look great for neo traditional) and it will fade faster

I have question.. You say at 12:10 you can make light fades by lightly brushing the top of the skin, doesnt that "heal away" in a healing prosess, if the ink is in epidermis -skin layer?

see now thats a good question because i was thinking the same like if its light brushing then isnt it gunna fall out i thought depth is key 🤔
@ConservativePrincess
@ConservativePrincess 8 месяцев назад
Instead of the cream for blending into the skin color.. if you're tatting someone darker skin like a dark tan or even darker skin brown would you just use a color tint to match their skin color or would that be best to use the cross hatch fade and leave it kinda like the leaves in this tat for most of the tat? I mean it looks nice either way just wonder the technique on tatting someone with darker skin that wants a smooth blended out look like that, because flesh tone I think may look dramatic and unnatural if added to darker pigmentation but wasn't sure if it'd blend out into the skin all the same using like a tan or darker color matching their skin. Or would you tattoo the matching skin color 1st especially using a light color like lavender or light pinks Sorry if its a stupid question super beginner here and fasinated by this.
