Colourful Rolled Paper Beads - Recycled Paper Project DIY
Learn how to make Colourful Rolled Paper Beads using 24lb Astrobrights paper, gift bags, scissors, glue, and any round tool you have in your possession.
These beads are made up of 2 strips of paper.
Strip 1:
Length - 11”
Wide end - 3/4”
Skinny end - 1/4”
Paper - 24lb Astrobrights
Strip 2:
Length - 12”
Wide end - 1cm
Paper - a gift bag that I cut up and coloured the white side with Sharpies.
Bead roller : 1/8” - you can also use a skewer
Experiment with this project using different weights of paper and changing up the length and width of your strips.
The Etsy shop I purchased my bead rollers from is no longer active. To purchase paper bead rollers, search "paper bead roller" on Etsy and choose your favourite design.

Thank you. One of, if not the best video on paper bead making. Very clear close up view of what you're doing. No long winded wordy explanations, just short and to the point, and you gave measurements. Lovely beads.

I have a set of paper bead rollers and even the largest one doesn't produce a bead large enough that I want to make. What can I do to get a "chunky" sized bead? Thank you.

You could use multiple layers of paper. The biggest beads I make are from magazines or flyers. Try using 10 or more strips of the same size with the wide end being 1”.

@@nancyh9125 Just use whatever paper gives you the size you like and paint them after they’re rolled. I do it all the time with acrylic paints. 😊

What kind of glue is used for sealing in the end? Can I use nail polish?

Yes you can use nail polish. I use PC Petrifier to harden my beads followed by triple thick varnish. You can use any varnish that you like. I have used nail polish in the past and if you’re doing a small amount of beads it’s fine, but for larger quantities could get a little expensive.

When making the 12" beads what is the first strips end width. And is the 2nd s trip's measurements the same as the first second strips measurement.
