@@excelerater I purchased a new 1911 Saturday and I had my mind made up to get the original Colt until I actually handled one. I ended up buying the Ruger sr1911. I have 2 rock island 1911's and a llama variant but the Ruger seems to fit and feel better than the others.
That depends... some folks like to look upon reliability more than a antiquated design, especially if they are going to bet their life and the lives of their family. If that's the case than a Glock 21 might look better to a sleepy eyed man who hears a window break at 3:00 a.m., than grandads old warhorse 1911. As one grand gentleman You Tube reviewer is fond of saying, "The beauty is in the function".
Man that is one gorgeous pistol, no collection is complete without a 1911. I'm not a fan of single stack pistols usually, but I have to make an exception for 1911's. They are truly an American Icon, and that particular one is simply stunning!! Another awesome review brother, I needed this today~cheers!
I will probably never be able to afford this gun, but thank God I bought my Colt 1911 Government when I did, because one month later, Colt pulled out of Kommiefornia. I live in TX now so all is good!😎
Thank you Sir, awesome video Sootch! Finally, it's not yet another striker fired, plastic 9mm! The 1911 has been around for 108 years, with no drastic changes to the design, conceptualized, perfected by the messia of handgun design, the inimmitable John Moses Browning, who by the way, also in my humble opinion, also created the ultimate 9mm, the 1935 Browning Hi Power!!! McMillan grey frame? No, unfortunately, no relation to me.🙁
Very nice gun. I carry a Rock Island Armory 1911A1 in 10mm single stack and also the 9mm/22TCM double stack 1911A2. 1911 is a great shooter and is safe to carry as long as you train consistently with it to get used to cocked and locked. I will eventually get a Colt when I get a better situation. Oh, I have a Remington R1 45ACP on layaway. Did I say I like the 1911?
you know I just got my 1911 45 out the other day and cleaned it. I have had it for a very long time. And it has not never let me down. I don't care if it weighs over 2 lb I like the weight. Marines weren't the only ones using the gun either. Love the review
Sarah shooting a 1911 45 cal. Awesome !!!!!!!! I like those G10 grips on that Colt 1911 Sootch00. I also love the checkering on the front strap too. Thanks for showing this awesome Colt Sir an long live the republic my friend.
As a SOCOM armorer I still see a 1911 now and then here in Afghanistan even in 2019. Set the majority of the home back in 2017 to Crane. Last time I carried one was in 2014 in Afghanistan before moving to Kuwait/Iraq in 2015/2016. Serviced MARSOCs M45s in Erbil during that time till they switched to the Glock 19. I love a good 1911!
Looks like they are shipping these with 8 round Checkmate mags vs. the 7 round Wilson Combat mags now. Thats fine, those Checkmate mags are as good as anything on the market.
You do such a fine job in your videos and I am somewhat surprised that this handgun is not offered with elevated sites and extended barrel for suppressed systems
Colts are the finest. I carry an XSP in 9 but that full size 1911 is of high quality and I can’t say enough on how these shoot. With a surefire 600lm it weighs a bit but it’ll hold up as a main sidearm. Perfectly paired with the Colt AR 416 for battle. Top shelf are Colts
The older production ones did not have front serrations on grip but now they do since they introduced the combat unit and are using that modified frame, there are still allot of older m45a1 colts on GB with no front serrations
Beautiful 1911. Love the gray frame. Very similar to the gray frame Springfield TRP that I would buy in a heartbeat if it wasn't for their past shenanigans.
For some reason my 1911s with a bushing and match barrels shoot as good s anything including a full length guide rod custom rail guns. Oh btw, towards the end of the war the marines used custom kimber for entry
I like the fde one. Beautiful gun with a great history. I came close to buying a sig 1911.. I'm a little upset with myself cause these are the same price... winning
This is very similar to my Colt Combat Unit and it is a phenomenal pistol. I have shot some nice gold cup colts and Kimbers and it is a super soft shooting pistol with that dual recoil spring.
John Moses Browning would have chopped of the hands of those who put a firing pin block into his masterpiece. Series 70 is how it was designed and that's how it should remain.
Somehow Sootch knows my next purchase will be a 1911 lol thanks again Sootch. I am looking at the Rock Island tac series but now I may want a colt too. When in doubt just get both.
Can’t believe they didn’t index the grip screws so the slots were parallel to the grips and pattern. Little touches make the difference.....and I still want one!
Own a fully customized 1911, Caspian slide to frame. The renowned gunsmith Teddy Jacobson ( Actions by T) spent 90 hours to hand fit & mate all the parts. It is a master piece
Is he still doing work?? That dude is awesome I would love to see some pics. I know some year's ago his health was giving him some issues and he wasn't taking as much work. I still have a model 60 I wanted to send to him but wasn't sure if he's still doing trigger and jewel work. This guy is the real deal I had the pleasure of speaking with him over the phone as he is definitely old school....but in today's throw away society I greatly appreciate that
Dang it! Just told myself l need to stop buying any more guns for awhile since l just bought a Beretta M9A3 after watching Sootch's video last month. So much for that idea after watching this video now....lol.
Will you one day do a review of the Ruger American Pistol? I own both the full size and compact models in 9mm, and love them, but I would be interested in your thoughts on the design.
Is this available without a pic rail? Maybe it is just me, but I love that traditional 1911 look without the rail. I have a Sig 1911 without the rail and I love it. I know some folks say that the external extractor in the Sig is not authentic, and maybe they are right but it doesn't alter the traditional look as much as that rail. Cheers!
Great video, one thing though, the issued m45a1’s just has US also. No US property markings. I own multiple decommissioned ones. The only difference between yours and a real marine issued one is the color and where it says M45a1 on the slide it would say USMC. And have a different code on the right side. Other than that it’s exactly the same and comes off the same assembly line.
My first choice for carry gun is my government springfield, yes it's heavier than the ploymer counterparts but they just don't have the feel of a 1911.
