Your camera is so insanely hi-def it looks almost slow motion when the bullet slug itself hits the target. You can tell when it's going to hit and when it's going to miss just like a baseball coming in. Amazing.

That is one of the loudest pistols around...in Vietnam "Tunnel Rats" used it to raid the enemy tunnels, they carried that pistol a flashlight and a combat knife only. There was also another soldier with him with a radio for maping of the tunnels. The blast and the muzzle flash in the dark tunnels made alot of them go crazy in a few missions.

As a former Marine, I can tell you that many of us prefer the 1911 over the Glock or any other platform really. The move to Glock is probably a price thing, as a few hundred dollars per pistol is far cheaper than any 1911. Great video and thank you for your kind words towards our beloved Corps.

A 1911 is essential to any firearms collection. I have a Remington R1 which functions flawlessly and shoots straight. It’s a testament to John Browning’s genius to have created a handgun that even Remington couldn’t screw up. And, I’d like to add a special “thank you” for not playing guitar!

rambokicksass77 NSW was the only USSOCOM subord that issued the CT as the Mk.24 Mod 0, some winded up being carried on Neptune Spear. If anything MARSOC should’ve kept the M45A1 because muh pride and heritage, keeping some semblance with divisional Reconnaissance and FR companies from which they descended from, and at the very least having more parts commonality so they’d only be shipping off a crate of M45s to Colt or whatever armorer for repairs and hopefully wouldn’t give admin or supply more headaches.
@DavidLLambertmobile

I posted the same thing. The late Tim Greer, US Army O-4 ret, SF wrote the tier one units in early OEF, SW Asia ops would carry either 1911s or the Glock 21 .45acp pistols. As the GWOT progressed the smaller Glock 19 9mm became more popular.

The Colt .45 was developed for Recon not the Raiders or MARSOC. We still carry the M9 but we will be carrying the SIG soon. The Colt never had enough capacity and some of the trigger group isn't designed for salt water contact. All that said my buddy did carry it on a MEU in 2014 and I own one with the USMC slide.

Stopping power?? Hell if a persons eyes are good, they can see it coming and just step out of the way...On a serious note, I wish 45acp was a faster round....45 would be a devastating round if they stepped it up to a manufacturing standard of 1000 + fps. There may be no more 230 ball anymore to make room for powder, but it would be worth it...my opinion of course...Die hards wont agree, but thats ok..

Corrections: 1. The only Marines issued M1911A1 .45ACP Pistols are Force Reconnaissance Company & MARSOC Marines. 2. The MEU(SOC) M1911’s, and now Colt M45A1’s, are not rack-grade Pistols. In fact, they begin as Standard 1911’s, and then undergo Customization/Hand-Fitting by Elite Marine Armorers at the Marine Corps Precision Weapons Shop (PWS), at MCB Quantico, Va. From there, they are then issued to Force Recon & MARSOC Marines in The Fleet Marine Force.

One place where the 1911 still has relevance is in many firearms competitions (though not in its original form). One term that gets thrown around is a 2011 pistol which refers to a 1911 with the design altered to accept a double stack magazine and most often optimized for 9mm, a number of manufacturers make such guns now. Such pistols are made in price ranges from $1000 on the very bottom end to over $5000. Competition shooters like it because the steel frame of a heavy pistol tends to reduce muzzle rise allowing for faster next shots in competitions emphasizing speed, while the single action trigger is often modified for the shortest and lightest trigger pull possible which helps with speed but also contributes to accuracy, especially at range. No striker fired gun (like a Glock) or DA/SA gun (like a CZ75 or Beretta M9) can match a good 1911 trigger, now matter how extensively modified. Most 2011s also incorporate modern, in demand features like modern sights or the ability to mount an optic or a flared magazine well.

Enjoyable, John - the acorn doesn't fall far from the oak; not that I'm suggesting that you're nuts . . .(;-) The Series 80, I notice, has the standard solid bushing common to 1911s. Since the barrel rattles around in that bushing in order to have enough play so that the slide can go back and the barrel tilt down to unlock, most target models have tight clearances to make the barrel to slide/sight relationship repeatable. The downside is that tight clearances can cause FTF and other problems. I have a Series 70, and always thought that the great innovation was the spring-loaded split bushing, along with the swell in the barrel at the muzzle. That provided the give necessary for the action to work reliably, while grabbing the barrel solidly when the slide returned to battery. I don't understand why they aren't all made that way, with a sturdy bushing; it can't be hard to make them durable. My series 70 is one of the most accurate pistols I own, which is unusual for a 1911 - a gun that was made for wartime dirt and needed loose parts to work reliably. I do like that pic rail on the frame for a laser. I ended up buying a set of Recover CC3H grips to achieve the same - nice hand purchase, rebated trigger guard, and pic rail, on which I have a small laser that my off hand index finger can flick on in a second. They are fun to shoot, I'll grant that.

Well, I've heard someone say they don't like how a 1911 feels in the hand: my wife. And several other women I've had try one. It's something about really small hands. And yes, personally, I LOVE 1911s. Never have owned a Glock and don't care to (although the G43 isn't half bad)
@khmaiaznboi89
@khmaiaznboi89 6 лет назад
I have small hands my only issue shooting a 1911 is the mag release and the slide stop. I can pick up any 1911 and shoot better than most double stack pistols. Grip width messes more with my trigger pull than grip length.

Please note: the US Marine Corps, MARSOC cut the .45acp M45 sidearm last year. They picked the Glock 19 9mmNATO. The smaller G19 was in use for PSD, concealed ops. It worked so well the Navy & US Marine generals decided to drop the Colt M45 series. To my knowledge, no current US armed forces or tier one unit issues the single action 1911a1 format .45acp.

The game should be a game of Horse. Quarter flip, via gunshot starts the match. Whatever one shoots the other has to follow until the original shooter misses. Just like playing the basketball game game, but with 45acp handguns.

Unfortunately, republicans have been passing more gun control then the democrats have and the NRA has been supporting them! The democrats want to repeal the constitution as a whole and the republicans are starting to get there themselves. Vote for the constitution!

The Colt M45A1 was the best pistol Marines used as a sidearm, but early productions of the gun had problems. The X crossed on the USMC means that those guns were decommissioned. The Cerakota wears too quickly when it was used in Iraq or Afghanistan. The one you’re using is the Ionbond.
