*First & Foremost, you must use Safety Glass, like used in the windshield in your vehicle! Next you use CLEAR EPOXY CASTING RESIN between each layer instead of Liquid Nails!* You must set heavy weight on top of glass to press all the layers together tightly for clear glass. *Polyester Resin will also work but will be about 2/3s as strong*

I was going to suggest just clear epoxy plus lexan, with no glass. I wonder if that would be too soft, or if you could still see through it after it's been shot.

additionally, put it in a pressure pot while it's curing. that way any bubbles that do form, are very tiny.

Just curious but it seems like most commercially available products have a more silicone like layer bonded between panes. Epoxy may harden too much and take away from the fragment catching abilities of a more ductile like substance such as silicone?

@@DemolitionRanch Lexan is polycarbonate, Plexiglass is acrylic. Polycarbonate is WAY tougher than acrylic, and it is what they use in bullet and shatterproof applications.

May I recommend adding a couple of spaced layers? The spaced layers are essentially pockets of air and work similarly to how spaced armor does on tanks. It allows the projectile to tumble and lose momentum before hitting another layer of armor.

don't forget the urethane, the vacuum bagging, the autoclave, and the knowledge of how long to "cook" it, and at what temperature. BR glass is difficult to do properly.

@@Wombatantify I made BR products for a dozen years. It's difficult to do, and expensive. UL level 3 glass (stops a .38 or 9mm) is around 50 bucks per square foot. Prices rise with the level of protection required.

Use two part epoxy resin for the glue. You can cut slots in a board to hold the panes of lexxan and glass in a frame, and pour the resin in from the top.

Just a suggestion, You could use tempered glass instead of the regular glass, it might work better. The tempered glass stays after cracking and is comparatively harder. Otherwise, nice try making the bulletproof glass.
