8:41 "no reason to actually remove the shell" may be true enough in practical sense. However, this a Colt Peacemaker we're talking about. Loading and removing the shells one by one is compulsory. 😁😁😁

For those still looking for a 7.5" model, go to Pyramydair, type 'custom' in their search, select BB or pellet Peacemaker base model, select 7.5" barrel. You can customize other options as well. I just ordered one yesterday (July 22, 2023).

This is the first time I've seen any of your videos and just loved it! I have the nickel-plated, 5-inch, BB model which I bought over 2.5 years ago but have never shot any BBs through it...wadcutter target pellets only. I must say I was very impressed by its accuracy despite being a smoothbore! I purchased it just to have fun with but when a few BIG rats decided to homestead my place I was able to put down at least five of them mostly with one shot. One did manage to get away but found it about three days later...stone dead. I see no reason to ever have to use BBs in it since it does so well with pellets. I "liked" and subscribed and am looking forward to watching your other videos! Thanks for taking the time to do all this for us folks.

Absolutely Excellent video.Intersting, Entertaining and Informative. The Ace in the Hole is a replica of one Sylvestor Stallon used in the Expendable. If it had fixed front sight and standard hammer it be exactly as colt started building back in 1874/5. The barrel lengths you mentioned were on the Inner barrel itself.. The faux cartridges also add to barrel length by approximately 1 1/2 inches. It should go by the outer barrel length with an inner barrel length of. In reality using only outer barrel length which is measured from the face of the cylinder to the muzzle you have 3 1/2 , 5 1/2 , 7 1/2 If the Ace in the Hole had fixed front sight standard rear sight with the 3 1/2 outer barrel colt called those the Sherrif model if it did not have a shell extractor colt called those the store keeper model. Colts 4 3/4 inch ( sadly Umarex refuses to make) colt called the Cattleman model Colts 5 1/2 inch Colt called the Artillery Model. Colts 7 1/2 inch Colt called the Cavalry model. So basically the Umarex Replicas in this video areas follows Umarex Legends Colt Single Action Army Ace in the Hole ( if you replace the hammer to standard it would be the Sherrifs Model) with 3 1/2 inch Outer Barrel Umarex Colt Single Action Army Artillery Model with 5 1/2 Outer Barrel Umarex Colt Single Action Army Cavalry Model with 7 1/2 Outer Barrel. Your video was Very Informative Interesting and entertaining also bout the best I have seen so far and I have watched them all in regards to any old west replicas be it airgun or airsoft pistol revolver single shot of repeating rifle sprinters green gas or co2. I have been a Collector Shooter of Original Powder Burners as well as airguns for 60 years. One thing I noticed which sometime disappoints me is how many people state it's not a true colt unless it has four clicks and state the click Are to spell out the word C O L T Absolutely Not True. There are many differant makes and models of single action revolvers with the 4 clicks at one time they were 3 click but once revolvers started using cartridges arms manufacturers added a click the first being the Safety so the hammer does not sit on a cartridge. Over time those wore down so many just lowered the hammer between cartridges then bout 1890s they started the load one skip one load four more and lowered the hammer on an empty cartridge. All the Umarex Colt SAA do have 4 clicks because of the co2 release valve they are set up to automatically rest on the first click ( safety notch) by squeezing the trigger gently pushing hammer slightly forward then release the trigger and cock the hammer you will clearly hear all four clicks. Another thing people believe is low slung holsters and gunfights. Firstly in the history of the United states and Canada there have Pnlg been about half dozen Actual Witnessed and Recorded face to face draw and fire gun fights the first of which ever witnessed and recorded being the Hickock/Tutte gunfight. Majority of gunfights were by back shooting bu ambush or would start as a bar room brawl someone would pull a gun killing another. These are historical facts that can be found in any archive of law enforcement news paper archives and more. No one in the old west wore a low slung holster. Most sidearms were carried in a waist high holster , tucked in theirs waist/belt or carried on a pocket. The low slung holster did not start showing up till 1900s The fast to face gunfights and low slung holsters were 100 percent an invention of Hollywood movies dating back to their first silent movies at the start of the 20th century. As for gun spinning and Fanning a Gun... that was only ever seen in shooting exhibitions and wild west shows Never Occurred in Everyday Old West. No one Fanned their gun first and formost it was dangerous the chamber may not be correctly lined up with the barrel as the weapon is discharged causing it to explode, it was very hard on the internals of the weapons causing premature wear even breakage , and was not accurate. Again a myth believed true due to Hollywood movies since 1900. My facts come from first I had the Privillage of knowing my grat grand father who past away at 97 in 1960. He was at one time a scout a sherrif and a U.S. Marshal. I not only heard direct from him first hand experiences but he kept daily journals of his life and experiences from age 12 working with a wagon train bound for Oregon to U.S. Marshal Oklahoma Territory to his move to Canada and retirement. I to this day have his journals and several of his weapons as well as his badge. Also my facts come come Historical Archive, News Oaper Archives, Law Enforcement and museums. The umarex peacemaker Actually has 4 stages (4 clicks) but one of the safty features Umarex incorporsted was when hammer is down it sits on first stage rather then on co2 release valve. If or press your trigger slowly move hammer forward till you feel it touch your co2 release valve hold hammer there release the trigger. Cock the hammer count the clicks 1 2 3 4 Like the Real Colt SAA powder burner...click 1 the Safety stage sets trigger gun can not fire. Click 2 the Half Cock position, this releases the cylender locking bar allowing the cylender to rotate by hand enabling load and unload. Click 3 is the cylinder locking bar resetting itself. Click 4 cylinder sound of trigger setting itself in fire possition and cylinder locking in fire possition simultaneously The Umarex Colt SAA all have the 4 stage but with the Umarex it is designed thst the hammer sits at stage 1 ( click 1) the safety stsge to protect the co2 release valve. Also Note the 4 clicks is Not to spell out C O L T if it was then explain why the 1875 Remington and other single action revolvers from 1873 forward have 4 clicks. Also Note the Original Colt SAA was carried with 6 rounds safely. As was the practice with Colt precussion cap revolvers they lowered the hammer between caps preventing accidental discharge. The hammer if the 1873 Colt SAA was lowered so fireing pin rested between cartridges preventing accidental discharge this info from Colt also from my great grand fathers diary also personal experiance with my Original Powder Burners 1849 Colt 1851 Colt 1862 Colt 1873 Colt 1858 Remington 1875 Remington and msny more in my collection.

Hello Mr. John, first of all, great video, every week I wait twenty minutes of pleasure, in the seventies in Portugal every Sunday, cowboy films were shown on TV, my favorite toys were always these pistols and rifles, now with forty-six years old, made yesterday, I am pleased to have some of these replicas in my collection, they are fantastic, a little expensive, but very well made, for me it is worth it, I am already looking forward to the next video, hugs.

One of the best reviews on the net. I was hoping someone could direct me to a site that lists all of the pallet handguns currently available. What I'm noticing is that I'll go to a store and they'll have a partial selection only. I'm sure that there's probably no store that carries them all all the time however I would like to know that if I'm looking at a BB version that there's also a pellet version of the same model.

You gave this gun such a great review I went and bought one. First let me say the good points. It looks very nice, built well and Good weight. The trigger is as good or better then most of my other Guns. Now for what I do not like, when the hammer is in the half cock position The cylinder is hard to turn and very ruff but it worked fine when shooting. Of all my air guns this is the worst for accuracy, it shoots about 2.5” high and 1.5” to the right with a terrible grouping. I moved my shooting table to 25’ with no change. I do not have a chronograph but the speed seems slow, and for some reason the pellets hit the target sideways. If I tried this gun first I would never wasted my money. The one I bought is the piece maker. This is not saying anything about you, I like your site, you do a good job, I believe I just got a bad one. ◦

Check that your barrel is actually properly seated in the frame, not allowing wiggling movement. This is a very common problem on these guns. You can shim it with a shim from a sodacan, and "hammer" it in place. There is a youtube video on that. Otherwise, the general opinion is, that accuracy is outstanding among the replica type guns.
@frankvercillo8659
@frankvercillo8659 3 года назад
@@andersgrassman6583 Thank You, I will try to find the video you mentioned. I ran a cleaning swab down the barrel, when I pulled the swab out the barrel pulled forward then springs back, it felt like it is being held in place with a spring. other then that it does not wiggle and seems tight. Is that normal?
@andersgrassman6583
@andersgrassman6583 3 года назад
@@frankvercillo8659 The design of replica CO2 revolvers is that the barrel actually consists of two separate barrels. The outer one - the visible - acts as a guide for a (much thinner) spring loaded barrel, which floats back and forth during cycling. The inner barrel ends with a big cone towards the drum, and since it is spring loaded, forces the drum to index correctly in relationship to the inner barrel. (The "drum stop" / idex stop, under the drum, situated in the frame, has almost nothing to do with how the gun works. In a "real" gun, this is instead of course a vital function.) If you pull some cleaning cloth through (the inner) barrel, it will move back and forth. Now to the common problem on these revolvers. Because the outer barrel acts as a guide for the inner moving barrel, it is very important that the outer barrel sits securely in the frame. However, on these guns, the outer barrel is only secured by a pin that runs crosswise through the frame, and is supposed to push the outer barrel into the frame. This design will in most cases, either fail already at manufacture, or like on my Colt, upon firing 200 shots. I knew this would most likely happen, so I bought it in a place with a very long warranty period. Their workshop had fixed this hundreds of times, and it came back perfectly secured. An it will most likely stay that way. Another person in a Swedish forum, had his "peacemaker" replaced 3 times. They all had "wiggly" barrels. Perhaps obviously, there is a reason why there is a youtube video on fixing this. The Crosman Remington 1875 is made by the same factory, and suffers exactly the same problem. I have sent it for repair as well. (There are two Taiwanese factories producing ALL replica CO2 guns on the market, irrespectively of brand.) My Colt SAA 7,5" rifled pellet version, has a 100% dependable spread in 10m of about 15-18mm. No "fliers". In my opinion, a suitable target should be 2,5-3 times the dependable spread. So I shoot 43mm plastic medicine bottles /cannisters. The unrifled BB versions are however being reported as having a very good precision as well. Perhaps putting up the extra money for the rifled version, really isn't worth it. Don't give up on the gun! There are only 2 other replica revolvers I know of, that matches this one in precision. As for replica pistols, they ALL shoot completely crap. You can throw gravel with the same or better precision, on the same distance with the pistols. I hope this is helpful.

@@frankvercillo8659 No worries! :-D My reason for shooting airguns, is that I don't have to go to a range. Actually, I also like not having to use earplugs. ;-) I used to own a newly produced copy blackpowder Navy .36, when in the USA for a year. I shot it completely to pieces. I kept adding wedges to hold it together. Talk about wiggling barrel... ;-D I might buy a Remington .44. Already during the civil war, the closed frame on these were recognized as much more durable than the split "frame" Colt design. However, due to gun control laws in Sweden, it really needs to be an original antique. And that costs 2'500 USD in reasonable shooting condition, in Sweden. The really god condition ones run a whopping 3'500 USD! (At least I think that's a fair amount of money.) I'm very curios what you think about your regular 7,5" when it comes to precision? Perhaps it's not a noticeable relevant thing? I believe their original purpose was hitting cavelry at 75-100 yds. Instructions were to aim for the horse... (At least during the civil war.) That doesm't take much precision. So the gun you have, should most likely be way more accurate than needed for the job, I lent a 1911 Colt for a while. I was very pleasantly surprised about the accuracy! I think though, it was maybe a special competition version. So maybe with less play? (Nothing special about the sights though.) Enjoy your shooting, in whatever manner. It's fun, and a good uncomplicated distraction. I figure you might need that extra much. Take care! P.S. By the way, the shell ejecting Umarex Legends "Cowboy Rifle" - Winchester 1894 - is insane fun! I've shot +2'500 rounds in three months! :-: Though, you have to pick up the shells, so not for everyone's taste. (I put a blanket under myself outdoors.)

Which is the 5 inch...I know of the following from umarex Colt SAA Peacemaker 7 1/2 inch barrel ( colt designation Cavalry model) Colt SAA Peacemaker 5 1/2 inch Barrel ( colt designation Artillery model) Ace in the Hole 3 1/2 inch barrel ( a Colt SAA Colt designated Sheriff model Modified for use by Sylvester Stallone in the Movie Expendabes hence the name Ace in the Hole) Inner barrels are of course much smaller then the outer barrel . Barrel length on a revolver is measured from cylender face to muzzle of barrel (being airgun it would be the outer barrel. If you go by what I'd sometimes listed in specification on the job or manual it talks of inner barrel 75 percent of the time cause that is the specification the actual barrel not the faux ( outer) barrel to look like the real powder burner barrel

Hi John, as I love things of historical value, I find these air gun replicas very appealing. The cost of these would be the collectors biggest threshold to cross. The price average +/- is around $150 each. This one factor is the one thing that would cost the rating at least 1/2 🌟. Unfortunately, I usually make purchases according to practicality, so these would never make it into my cabinet. The review was very enjoyable and informative, and the accuracy of these was certainly impressive. Because of their nostalgic value, I think they are pretty kewl, but mainly for display purposes. Thanks so much for sharing and God Bless, Greg

Prices in Canada very lowest being 135 highest being 600 the average in my province is 200 but we never get the special editions we never get the blued or weather versions we never get the 7 1/2 barrel cavalry version infact we dont even get the ace in the hole in my province. Here in Canada you may find the ace in the hole in a few places on Ontario or British Columbia I Canada you will only find the 5 1/2 inch barrel in nickle either smooth bore with faux ivory grips or rifled barrel with faux black wood grips. If you want a 7 1/2 inch barrel your only option is Crosmqn 1875 Remington nickle finish. Or go the 7 inch bare river Schofeild or 6 inch ash Schofeild both offer nickle or weathered finis both offer smooth bore bb or rifled pellet or combo bb and pellet version

I have over a dozen of these Peacemakers including a 7 1/2 nickel engraved . Accurate and fast handling . I have practiced fast drawing them and can get a shot on target from the holster in under 1/3,second. Would do that with a live firearm. The pellet versions are some of the most accurate pellet revolvers U have shot, and the most fun. I have a few complaints. One no 4 3/4 barrel versions Two lack of more grip options. Last I have the first series blued Gi sand like them but they are gone. I wish they would bring out a Peacemaker with the correct barrel length, the current one they make has a barrel which is just over half an inch too long which makes it unbalanced an unsuitable for fast draw. I have a Uberti blank firer which is just the right length and it is perfect, but it doesnt fire anything. The grips are also too smooth and it gets slippery with sweat. The size of the grip is bigger than the real one though which is good for my big hands.

I'd prefer the pellet version ( like these are ) instead of BB 'fuel'. A tad on the pricey side here in Canada ( of course they are ) but I'm looking at the Peacemaker with a blued finish and 5 inch barrel length..... Maybe I'll order one, depends on the final price of course with shipping taxes and all...I'll find o-ut next week.

Have you already did the Crosman Vigilante 357???? the Colt's Look nice but i'm thinking over 200/250 Pellets they'll be Broken in and will exceed 400 plus Fps. and if their Rifiled I would not use BB's .
@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 4 года назад
Rifled barrels don't work well with BB's regardless. I am not so worried about damaging the rifling but the accuracy is not good. I think it puts an abnormal spin on the BB and results in poor accuracy. I will do the Vigilante one of these days.👍

You did not mention shot count on a CO2 capsule - that's another bonus, since it is very high. At least 100! Interesting to se the difference in accuracy in between models. Wonder if it is about length of sightline, or actual barrel length? Also, I wonder what kind of accuracy the originals, produced in the 19th century had? Assuming you bought decent ammo... ;-D I've heard they varied a lot. I have always liked the look of the original army model 7,5" barrel the most, so that's the one I've bought. But that's not for gunslinging! All in all, this is an outstanding gun, giving me a lot of joy. Especially on a warm summers eve, with som cold beer on the side. In my case, it's on the beach during sunset, so life just doesn't get that much better!:-D By the way, I have the Crosman Remington 1875 as well, but the trigger pull is WAY to hard, and the bore is smooth, so not at all as good a gun. You will shoot much worse with it. The price difference doesn't make up for it. Thank's for another good video!

Great comparison review... I'm impressed by the accuracy of the 7.5" but unfortunately they seem to be a bit on the rare side ( the regular Colt, not the NRA model) and I haven't been able to locate one, even on E/bay. Anyone know if they've been discontinued? I don't want to settle for the 5" if the 7.5" is going to be restocked

Thanks for the information. I would be interested in seeing a follow up video after you've had these guns for a while. I bought the 5" barrel, nickel plated version. It was great while it worked. After a couple of months of use the C02 didn't quite seal and would leak. In my experience Umarex's customer service has been non existent. I couldn't find a phone number, just an email address. I emailed them weeks ago and didn't get a response. At this time, my gun is non-operable.

The plinking test was absolutely cool as hell. I'd love to see you do some cowboy action stuff. That gun switching was smooth. I always thought those fake shells were kind of tacky but it's neat you showed how to load the pellets just like a single action Colt. Cocking the hammer was a satisfying sound each time. Me personally, though, I just wouldn't pay the cost. They're worth it, but I'd rather buy an admittedly less cool .22 airgun.

I wouldn't recommend it. You don't want to bring a toy to a gun fight. It may cost you your life. Pulling a firearm (toy or not) will immediately put you in a deadly force situation. If your gun doesn't have the power to kill then its safer not pulling it out. Perhaps try a shooting taser or OC spray.

I like how they are made from the original patent plans given a copywrite on Sept 18, 1871. And just added the safety. Wish the real ones had that feature? I have two of the Nickle ones with 5.5" barrel .177 pellet shooters. Then the John Wayne The Shootist collector pistol from PA with 4 3/4" barrel, weathered black finish and numbered 333 of 600 produced. Again, .177 pellet and came in a maple display case with JW's signature engraved on the lid. I like the realistic heft of them. Odd that the pistols are built to the size of the .45lc version, but use cartridges more like a .357 size? Why not make the cylinder & cartridges in .45lc to contain .25cal pellets and rifled barrel liner? Anyway, the holsters available for the .45lc peacemaker with 4.5-5.5 inch barrel fit these Umarex/Colts real well. I got the reproduction 19th century holsters from historicemporium.com . And the matching color concealed carry belt with changeable buckle from midwayusa.com .
