I closed my eyes while I was listening to this song and I could envision the old TV show “Rawhide” or any of the old Western trails type movies where they were riding the range, taking care of the cows as they move them from one grazing area to the other or moving them to market. The cowboys were always dirt poor until they got paid at the end of the trail and then they’d go hogwild in a town, lol, find a girl and dream about her as they moved on to the next job. I mean the song just paints an entire movie type picture; each verse telling the story of the cowboy’s life. And the artist’s voice is just amazing! So perfect for this song; mournful, rugged...so full of soul and meaning. Great song, great artist, great reaction.

You're not far off. Cowpoke is a cover song from Rex Allen. It debuted in 1951.

Colter is awesome. Great for the young and new comers. I listen to him daily. But, I grew up on Chris ledoux. Check out his song "this cowboys hat"

Thanks to your reaction video I am loving Colter now. Yet another artist I had no idea about. This guy has a Johnny Cash voice in a young compact model. From Saskatchewan province in Canada he is super talented. Great story telling, guitar pickin and what a voice. It's amazing...I am leveled.....

In the last year I've seen Colter Wall and Tyler Childers....great talents, great shows. I've ran across another young talent, 22 year old Marcus King....he plays a fantastic blues/Jazz mix..he recorded his first album at 16 years old.

Barns Courtney's "99" is great. You might try Shawn James's "Curse of the Fold" too. I don't know if you know of Lynyrd Skynyrd, but any of their songs are great.
