The war in Ukraine is a key to understanding certain aspects of Russian history. Czarist, Soviet, and current Russian textbooks constantly praise the bravery, courage, and fearlessness of Russian soldiers. It is now becoming increasingly clear what the source of this "courage" is. Its source is the worthlessness, emptiness, and insignificance of their existence, which deprives their lives of any value both from the point of view of humanity and from their own point of view. Therefore, they do not value their own lives, much less the lives of others. It's as if you engage in hand-to-hand combat with a man who knows in advance that he wants to die. So who would be braver in the ring? Naturally, a potential self-killer whose life is not worth a penny. Therefore, the bravery of Russian soldiers, from the time of Suvorov to the time of Surovikin, is something to be ashamed of, rather than praised and extolled. This is from a shitty life, not from outstanding personal qualities. But I want to make a reservation: life in Russia is much better now than it was in the USSR or Czarist Russia, which is why there are so many cowardly Russian soldiers today.
