Combat Mission Gone Wrong! Watch to See the Incredible A-4E Rescue over Vietnam in 1966

In February 1966, A-4 Skyhawk was one of the most important (although not the most glamorous) assets of US Navy in the Vietnam War. It was the workhorse that carried out numerous strikes and faced stronger and stronger opposition all the time. USS Ticonderoga was an Essex class 'small deck' carrier operating on Yankee Station. Her Skyhawks were launched against a coastal gun battery that had attacked an American destroyer. Bad weather and strong AAA allowed for only one destroyed gun but the flight of Skyhawks lead by Lt Cdr Render Crayton continued south in search of targets of opportunity. They found some railway cars in a siding and attacked them. The site however was well protected by camouflaged AAA.

Great Video. I can see the work you put in. I did a video of the shootdown of Iran Air 655 and I had to play the mission like 7 times to get even close to the correct footage, and I still had to edit. So I can have some idea how long it takes to do one of these and make it look even halfway acceptable. And you do a very good job. If you ever need a second human pilot for any of these let me know. On a side note, someone asked about Israeli aircraft from the war of attrition. You're right that there aren't many assets available, however there is a very good IAF skin for the Mirage 2000 which is passable as a Mirage III. Sadly the F-4 Phantom in DCS is terrible looking, or I'd be having more fun with that as an AI jet. Anyway, hats off to the work you put it on this.
@showtime112
@showtime112 2 года назад
Thanks for the comment. I'll try to check out your video later. As for the repetition, I sometimes do over 20 takes to get anything close to the desired outcome. I'm actually considering doing videos with other humans for the more complicated stuff so we might try something one day. Regarding the Mirage 2000 with Israeli skin, I used that initially but then the VSN Mirage III mod appeared. Neither has the right cockpit anyway. Plus, Mirage 2000 module has a very serious flaw if you are a video creator. Replay track never, ever works on that module. F-4 is a very old model in DCS but I'm kinda hoping that ED will announce it as the next module in the end of the year video. Warbirds and helos are fine but I really love jets.

One author said that he never went into even a small town after the Viet Nam war, that didn't have at least one dead soldier. They told us that 55,000 died. Ridiculous. It was way higher. And they died for nothing, because a general from WWII decided to fight it like it was western Europe. Tanks in a jungle? Are you serious? The only people who did damage beyond their own casualties were the Special Forces guys who fought the enemy on their own terms. Big battallions don't work in a jungle. Neither do tanks.

What do you mean by 'timing it'? As for Russians in Syria, I made two videos on that. Generally, I would do more but it's hard to find details about their operations. As for the War of Attrition, there aren't many assets used by Israelis in that period. Essentially, it's just the Skyhawk.
