Now here we have for fans of Leonard Rosenman, the extremely rare studio take of the theme he did for the US Tv series COMBAT. First time on youtube and not widely available commercially on vinyl. ICNR.
Just watched 3 episodes yesterday, one of the best military shows IF NOT the BEST, Thank you, Great memories, and salutes to you who served our country over the years and decades!
All of my grandfathers and uncles and great uncles fought in WW2 and my Dad fought in the Korean war, so it had a special significance growing up. When I was a kid my Dad used to let me stay up and watch Combat with him, then in the 1970s it was on every Saturday morning. Definitely a classic TV. Series.
ALL of my Uncles who served in World War Two LOVED this show. It was very adult and Vic Morrow and Rick Jason were simply superb. My favorite Uncle especially liked the scenes in which Morrow handled his firearms-----he said it was realistic.
Ditto, watched it with my dad a WWII Vet. I joined and fought in Vetnam 1970. The first fire fight I got into, my first thought was "were is Chip Saunders when I need him" Talked to other Vets with the same thing....
my late father served in World War II in the army and I want to say with all due respect to all the children of War veterans be proud of your fathers who served their country in the time of War when their country needed them God Bless America and God bless are men and women in the armed forces
Yeah, this Parade march always reminds me of dad. A Seabee in the Philippines, 111th special battalion. Had nightmares for decades over Guadalcanal, and so many others. But that one was the worst.
@@陳偉斌-b3h When you can !! Get every season and bing watch them. It so much better watching it without the t.v. commercials . Tell what you think of the final season?? I think they rushed to finish in my opinion.
I grew up in the 2000s but this is still one of the main themes of my childhood. I'd be playing and listening to my dad watch reruns of the show in another room and the theme is now forever stuck inside my brain.
@@rickyking1790 I would because John Wayne was more physically endowed and Mr. Morrow was not as gifted and had to get by on his street smarts and mental tenacity.
I used to watch this and "Rat Patrol" all the time when I was a kid. Listening to this song, I could picture these "dog faces " marching to the next battle in the rain through mud, unshaven, stinking to high heaven, in their cruddy fatigues, beat down, yet putting one foot in front of the other. My old-man was a Korean war vet with the 6th armored division as an infantry man. Had three battle stars on his campaign ribbon. He once told me that's one of the ways you survive, no matter what, just keep putting one foot in front of the other, 'til you get to where the hell you belong.
And I really loved the Combat theme music. I thought it was a musical expression of gallantry tinged with just a touch of sadness. I have never forgotten that tune, and it still floats up to the top of my consciousness every now and then...
Era el punto obligado de reunión de todas las tardes de domingo, de mi familia y de algun vecino que no tuviera televisor. Su música me lleva automaticamente a aquellos años de mi infancia.
Very coincidental that we're viewing this within hours of each other... wasn't aware that Rick Jason committed suicide... I preferred Combat over The Gallant Men. I believe they both were on the same week.
Lyrics: VERSE Proudly we bear the name of the Infantry, Knowing we share the fame of the Army Infantry, Where-ever liberty's battle must be won, The Infantry has gone and so it shall go on. Where there's a job to be done is where we'll be, For we are the fighting men of the Infantry. CHORUS Follow me, left, right, Follow me, left, right, We'll go marching to hell and back if it has to be. Follow me, left, right, Follow me, left, right, We're the ever ready men of the Infantry.
This was my favorite TV show when I was a kid and I’ve always loved this music. Thank you for posting it. It’s great to hear the part that was used for the end credits without an announcer gabbing over it.
August 11. 2020----Was checking out a 1/72 scale F8F Bearcat that some guy in Japan had built with this soundtrack as part of his build. As soon as I heard it, I recognized it having watched the series as a kid. Thanks for the music.
I always thought this parade march would be awesome during military graduation! You know, where they march in formation and all? My dad would tell us war stories from his days as a Seabee in the Philippines, depending on what the episode was about, nd what the tuff on-screen really felt like.
While this theme song for Combat! is easy to find I have been looking for the song they would play occasionally during each episode. I believe it's called "The March" or just "March". I think this would be interesting to hear in it's entirety also. Thanks for posting this bondbookebond.
Fue una serie de mi infancia que nunca me lo perdía por este medio los veo y fácilmente regreso aquella época cuando de niño pensaba en ser militar jaja aquellos tiempo.
Whenever I hear and see soldiers in fatigues speaking French, I immediately think about "Combat" as I grew up watching it and liked it so much, I joined the military in 1977 when I was 18. I had to ... the draft was abolished in 1973! "Ten-Hut!"
Never missed it when I was a kid. I just checked in to see if I remembered the theme song correctly. Yep, I did, but as a kid I never heard how out of tune the band sounded. Perhaps they were going for the authentic sound of a military base band.
