I worked as a teenager on a farm as a hillside pickup combiner, picking up grass seed. To be able to even get on the crew, the owner would have us in a field, bending down and picking up the rocks and tossing on the back of a flatbed trailer being towed by a tractor. 15 hours a day, for one week. Out of 25, only 3 made to end of week. After seeing this, thank you ❤❤❤. So many times I wished I could drive our combined into one another. This is collateral beauty
The combine derby was started in the small town of Lind Washington over 30 years ago. I have been a participant for the last 5 years. Such a crazy thing to experience. And so much fun
@@elaineewalt8137 Looks boring imo. Idea is great and crazy, but... combine harvester is a solid piece of metal. The biggest damage was caused by wall, because of lack of precision while u-turning.
@@ValleyViewDairy oh, I understand that...my family had John Deere equipment. But what I meant... and I guess, should have said...was that I was surprised that he could continue to have ANY type of steering, in that situation.
You don’t follow the markets for these machines, plus there’s a lot of us trying to start farms that can’t get affordable equipment because of scrapping and derby claiming these machines. It’s cool to watch, but it’s also keeping a lot of us from living the dream that is American farming.
With how much farmers hate the way deer and others have gone with the electronic updates on newer machines, I'm surprised farmers aren't saving these manual machines and putting them back to work. They don't have cup holders and AC but they'd be working. Look at Big Bud for example. I guess farmers have a lot of money to spend on new toys. Don't know why yt sent me here.
the things are junk, we got a 7720 thats perfect looking exterior, the inside is spray foam and plexiglass. loss 1/2 our crop this year cause it leaks so bad.
It hurts to see but something i learned lately is : if your gonna try make money off machinery and especially in agriculture you need something that works ON THE GO. these combine probly needed a lot of work just to be able to harvest an acre. But yes its sad
