I've noticed that the hobbies of Gunpla and Miniature painting have a lot of overlap, and I'd like to use this video to share some of my thoughts, as well as the creative crossover projects from some other creators! I wholly agree with your sentiment. Branching out is a surefire way to enhance creativity. I've started out on Gunpla, and now I already have a Frame Arms Girl kit I plan to kitbash, and will also get a 30 Minutes Missions kit in the future. Kitbashing a new mech from trash is also in the works for me; I'm currently accumulating parts for this.

Yes for nail art cross over. But you have to choose something like the efreet and the throwing blades are snazzed up. Also rhinestones and oyster shell flakes

There is another Gundam table top game that's inspired by table top mech games called Build Fight System. There's a subreddit for it but most of the activity is on the Discord. It mimics the system in the Gundam Build series where the better you build/customize and paint the better it will perform.

I'd love to see a video on how minis and gunpla have a crossover with nail art- i only recently started looking into using nail art stencils and waterslides on my model kits and it feels like it's opened a whole new world of customization to me.

I want a crossover with nail art. Also want a led mini dwarf cleric to slide in there at some point. (NO! I STILL HAVEN'T FINISHED PAINTING IT LIAM! To be fair. I has only been about three years).

you just got to jump into the deep end and and slap some paint on there, accepting the fact that your first mini won't be great ha ha; they're cheaper than gunpla, so it's easy to accumulate many to practice on...

I've picked up a couple of kits; the guntank early type and the terrifying Kotobukiya 1/35 Gunhed that I only heard about recently while looking for cool sci fi tank models and then found on eBay with zero bids and an hour left so got in for an absolute steal. Not sure what to use them for yet.

Woohoo! I was not expecting that shout-out, thank you! I think both hobbies can benefit from dabbling in each others' realms AND it opens us up to a fresh new hobby to keep our work tables fun and exciting. I definitely need to get my brushes back out for some inner frame work, and I already have a kit in mind to for some hand painted details. I just got my first gundam model kit recently and I come from the land of gaming minis (warmachine, 40k, anything allowing little plastic pronouns), so I am very excited to dive into something that is like my hobby but different. I got the God Gundam cuz that is my shiz and I loved your video painting the same dude, not that I'm gonna do the same thing but maybe, who knows, it is just the HG version. Anyway, I'm just excited to find another facet of this model hobby and find channels that are awesome like this one made by wholesome people (from what I can tell, everyone has dark secrets). You, MMM, have become one of my favorite content creators for this hobby alongside Miniac (who I love) and even if this sounds weird, I wanted to say I love what you do, how you do it and can't wait to see how things go in the future. I love Warhammer... But I was originally building gunpla kits. Warhammer was merely my gateway drug to tabletop wargaming, though that is why I still stick with it lol.

I like having both to work on, mini painting and gunpla is fun, with plenty of skills crossing over. Only problem is the backlogs that build up for each of them....

@@MMMayhem lol, I suppose so, since I'm the one who calls it a "Shelf of Inspiration and Infinite Possibilities" !! I think it's more the storing aspect of things. I have a decent stack of gunpla, scale model kits, as well as miniature wargaming stuff - I still haven't figured out where I'm temporarily stashing my Conquest stuff, for example!!! (two core boxes, four regiment boxes, and a W'adrhun Warband box. Oh yeah, and the Spires First Blood starter set too, although that's already built)

Wow, I really love the mini paint style on the gunpla. You had me with the Gouf and this is the cherry on top. I don't airbrush much and can get my hands on acrylics/ paint brushes. Any good tutorials or beginner brush/ paint sets to look into?

I never paint the bases on my mini's. It looks weird when you use a model in a winter environment and the models base is painted in desert environment.

clear acrylic bases are cool, used them on my blood bowl minis
