Iv got one of these models and they are fantastic. All it’s needed in over ten years is generator cleaning and a pressure pump seal/washer. My model was made in June 1985

Yeah I had one do that as well Dominic. When I took it apart to have a look everything seemed fine, but then I noticed that the end had a ding / very small flat spot, a sign of someone tapping the check valve on something hard {rock in the field} to see if they can get the ball to move, yes they did, but in doing so deformed the end. You just gotta love these small stoves.

OK, a few thing to talk about here. Don't get mad and read to the end please: 1. A slightly leaky check valve is not a big deal. It's there to keep the pressure in the tank and prevent it from escaping between pumps. Sure, I replace them too, but I also save them, because they still "work". If it leaks really bad, or the air stem doesn't seal when you tighten the pump knob, different story. I'm sure someone will chime in like a maniac with some "danger" warning. BS. If it didn't have the air stem shutoff, yes, that's a problem. The check ball is a metal ball on brass seat seal. A microscopic piece of sand or grit or even minor pitting is enough to make them leak. All the carb cleaner and vinegar baths in the world won't fix some of them. But those will fix a LOT of them. This one wasn't very bad. 2. When you did the pump test after you lit it, you didn't cover the vent hole and you pulled the pump back for some odd reason. That so-called "test" did nothing without the vent hole covered. But again, it was good enough to pump it up, so it's good enough. 3. Follow the light instructions to the TEE. Some dude on RU-vid with little to no experience with these isn't going to find a "better way" than those instructions that are PRINTED ON THE STOVE. The valve decal says LIGHT/HIGH for a reason. The instructions don't say, "Do whatever you feel is necessary to get this lit and ignore the following words written my the engineers who designed, redesigned, tested and came up with these instructions. What did THEY know anyway? Egotistical jerks flaunting their college degrees in engineering. Pffff! Have someone hold your beer and wing it!" Nowhere in any documentation does it say, "Feel free to deviate from these instructions at any time. You know better than we do when to adjust that fuel valve. And those pesky seat belts, what a joke, am I right?" If I recall correctly, it says words to the effect: Open the pump knob one full turn Pump approx 25 full strokes Close pump knob Hold lighted match to burner Open valve lever to LIGHT/HIGH When burner lights, open pump knob and add 30 full strokes 1 per second Close pump knob Adjust adjust flame with the valve lever. You probably think I'm being a jerk here. Nope. But I wanted you to think I am. It's folks who don't read labels and burned their tents, home, and killed themselves, their families and friends and so it is THEY who are the jerks. Coleman and their lawyers finally came to the conclusion that the average American just isn't smart enough, or doesn't have enough common sense to operate a liquid fueled stove safely anymore. Who could blame them? They put a paper manual in every box AND EVEN PRINTED IT ON THE STOVE! And MAYBE 1 out of 20 Coleman stove videos screw it up. Don't believe me? They used to make dozens of liquid fuel stoves and lanterns. Now? 1 maybe 2. And that's too bad. I just want folks to enjoy these things safely and educate them as best I can on how these simple nearly perfectly engineered appliances work I am not THE GUY to go to. But I'm here if anyone has questions. Feel free to bitch, whine, and moan if you feel it necessary. I'm a big boy with a thick skin. I just happen to know a lot about these things. I've own, fixed, restored, sold and used hundreds of them. Have a safe week!

Thanks brother, I appreciate it! And I don’t think you’re a jerk! I hear or should I say read everything you wrote! It’s solid advice! Great little stove. The check valve probably has a tiny piece of dirt or something in it. Probably if you shoot a little carb cleaner through it,it might flush it out. Oops guess you tried that lol. Any little piece of crud can make it fail. Those stoves do simmer very well. My MSR whisper light won’t do that,but it’ll run on gasoline or kerosene. Hope you’re having a great week brother and stay safe down there. 👍👍

Thanks for the info! I just found my dad's old "Sigg Tourist P1" camping set, and it had this exact stove inside it (without the Coleman writing) and I was wondering how to use it. It appears to be brand new, and I have no idea how to use these things, so your video really helped. I'm gonna try adding some fuel today (kerosene I guess?) and see how it goes.
@Dominic.Minischetti
@Dominic.Minischetti Месяц назад
You’re welcome! If it’s like mine it uses white gas commonly know as camping fuel. Ethanol free unleaded gas could be used in a pinch!
@AchaJeeVlogs
@AchaJeeVlogs Месяц назад
@@Dominic.Minischetti I'm gonna make a video soon of unboxing and trying it out the first time (hopefully I don't blow myself up in the process). I'm not sure where to get white gas though (I'm in Pakistan). I guess I should try Googling around or ask chatGPT.
@Dominic.Minischetti
@Dominic.Minischetti Месяц назад
@@AchaJeeVlogs very cool! I subbed so I can see it! White is sold under the brands of Coleman and Crown. Like I said, you can use ethanol free unleaded also, but it’s a dirtier fuel.
@AchaJeeVlogs
@AchaJeeVlogs Месяц назад
@@Dominic.Minischetti Thanks man. I'll make the video this weekend and it should be up within a few days (after a part 2 breakfast video I'm currently editing). Coleman fuel may be expensive here since it's gonna be imported, so I'll ask my local gas station if their unleaded is ethanol free. Otherwise I'll bite the bullet and get this coleman fuel.
@Dominic.Minischetti
@Dominic.Minischetti Месяц назад
@@AchaJeeVlogs Don’t worry too much about ethanol free. Just use what you find locally. If it has ethanol, so be it! You will be fine. You would have to burn up gallons and gallons before you would need to do a deep cleaning of the generator! Have fun and be safe! Do me a favor, when you post the video, drop me a comment back here so I don’t miss it!

My dad was just on the phone with me because my pump isn’t turning haha he mentioned a leather piece of the pump that needs to be lubricated …. I havnt had a chance to check it out yet but is the ring around that thing leather? Maybe you just need to oil it up 🤷🏼‍♀️
@Dominic.Minischetti
@Dominic.Minischetti 3 месяца назад
Some are leather, some are neoprene. Both need oil. If either is cracked they would need to be replaced. There is a little hole that says oil. Put a few drops in that hole. I use a light machine oil. Aka sewing machine oil and it works fine! Let me know how you make out and thanks for watching my friend, I appreciate it!
