Time Warner more or less owns all the cartoons you saw, so Adult Swim can get away with the IP use and nobody really cares if they do. People often forget they own so many IP rights and it gets really funny if you think about all the other things they own like Looney Tunes and Harry Potter. Time Warner is a beast in their own right, people think Disney has a lot, but this is a mighty big collection of IP's as well.
@@JesterBrosCartoonTheater The one house being from SpongeBob is the only weird one, the rest is Time Warner stuff so they can easily pull from a large range of shows. As a full series we can easily pull from a ton of shows all within the IP rights they own and that also means other Adult Swim projects as well.
@@cartergamegeek You forget that there is another Nickelodeon related IP in the trailer as well. Rocko's Modern Life is a classic Nicktoons show and the Bus ride that Pibby and the Sidekick character were sleeping in showed that specific IP in all it's recognizable glory.
@@anthonydeadman I noticed that later once it was pointed out by a few people. Most of the Nick stuff is based on the time the creator did some writing for Nick so they tossed in some Nick love. If this gets made into a full series they might remove any Nick callouts unless it is really fast. They don't have the IP rights for those shows, so outside of a fast parody gag we can't easily see them get used.
I'm guessing it's age restricted because even though it's not that bad it still has kids cartoon characters going through some gruesome stuff. They don't want to hear complaints from all the bad parents who use RU-vid as a babysitter. Also the creator has said that this becoming a show depends on the video getting enough good feedback. So make sure you like it and leave a comment demanding more.
This is pretty much a proof of concept thing, there's a lot of evidence that the creator of the short WANTS this to be a show, and this short is essentially testing to see how people respond it, and given how many views its gotten an how many people WANT it to be a show...it's likely we may get it, especially since apparently a title for the show (Learning With Pibby Apocalypse, I beleive it is) has been trademarked, reportedly.
The creators wanted to give the lesser seen characters time in the spotlight. That's why you have characters like Finn and Jake or the Mystery Inc Gang corrupted. So the side characters in the show can team up with Pibby to fight back. From the little bits and pieces from the creators, we know that this "corruption" spreads like a virus but the host can fight back and eventually break free.
From what I heard in another analysis video of the trailer, anything owned by Warner Brothers is entirely possible for the show to crossover with. The hard part will be the Nickelodeon stuff which is owned by another company (Viacom I think), and the issues that might have. But if they can pull it off I would love to see it. I want to see more media where characters can come together across boarders between companies. We haven't had anything ambitious like that since Who Framed Roger Rabbit. (Wreck-It Ralph tried but while the first was a good movie it didn't really deliver on that offer more than cameos and references.)
cartoon network (which is where Adult Swim is like spun off from) has a history of having its cartoons crossover with each other, and hanna barbera cartoons such as scooby doo and the flintstones are also owned by cartoon network, so yeah the spongebob thing may jsut be an easter egg but the other stuff is VERY possible.
